Thank you Paul so much for taking time to do these, very much appreciated! So many details in a small aircraft. Beautiful work, and that engine is stunning!
COOL🤗👍👍👍 LOVE the shop and what you folks do,.. Thank You Paul and Thank You Kermit.
Great to see the update - thanks Paul. :)
Thanks for another great video.
Thanks for the updates.
Great people working on it. Wonderful work.
Thanks.
Retired Air Force veteran.
Just went back to rewatch the part about the engine. You must have lost you mind when you opened that box. What a gorgeous engine.
You guys have all the fun!
Fascinating, as always. TFP
Thank You Sir for the content in your love for air craft. I am able to injoy a joy I have always wanted to injoy but unable to. God Bless and thank you
This was just wonderful, start to finish! I was going into Paul Withdrawal! So needed the fix! All for fun! Thank you!
Looking good Kermit.....awesome
I hope that one day I will be able to see this fly. Keep up the good work.
Hi Paul I always look forward to the ME 108 project. Wow it's so kool and you sir are doing a great job. God bless you
Paul is a very special person and a gift to FoF imho.
Thanks again for another wonderful episode Paul.
Can we also get to see the work you are doing on the PBY? As it is my favourite aircraft! And the C47/DC3 is a close second
Thank you for the update.
Keep up the great work! Thanks Paul for the update. Love the 108!
How wonderful is this ! Enjoying every episode of this restoration! Well done, I can't wait to see the finished article !
Big!
I cannot comprehend the amount of patience and dedication required to accomplish the restorations you are able to do. You are a most talented person. I am most appreciative of Kermit for financing these projects but he could not have any success without talented people like you. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂
not to mention the MONEY!
Perfection is possible when money is no object. We do back to service restorations where I work and the owners are upset about buying new seatbelts..it's difficult
I know what you mean , they want it all without paying Lol
Great .Bird - LQQKing fwd to more vids ( ...and its maiden flight !)
Hallelujah
I absolutely love the BF108 updates. This restoration project is amazing.
I have one question: what do you do with all the parts that cannot go back on the airplane because they’re broken or cracked or something but are originals?
Keep them
When the original engine has been overhauled to this high standard, it would be great if it could be reunited with the airframe, for the sake of originality.
James Garner flew Donald Pleasnce away from the stalag in The Great Escape in a Bf 108
Omg. Never thought of that. Will check that out a little closer.
Sorry to disappoint: they did not. They used another German plane however, s 2-seat Bücker Bü 181. It is a smaller, low hp trainer. 105 hp Hirth engine. BTW Kermit has one of those as well.
Where did this bf108 come from?
how do you copt dimpled holes on to a new sheet?
Just a distraction, check out the video 'The sunken plane, the bomb and the evil frogwoman!' I believe it to be a French-registered Bf-108. No crying allowed on UA-cam.
This must be the most detailed and faithful restoration of any 108 ever. It's glorious to see.
Will the new bulkhead be made out of magnesium or aluminum? Also what’s the plan for the PBY?
Some of the best content on youtube....when you can get it lol
i know this onlt anold plane but its taken so long to do im afraid ill not see the end
When Paul smiles about new parts that have been made you know you’ve made a restorers day.
I just love this project - thank you for the update
Love this project and the great updates. thanks
Finally, i've been looking forward to another an update - many thanks. Very nice engine.
Who doesn't have a couple of spare crated Argus engines? LOL! Love this series (and the Jenny) more than I can say. Thanks, Kermit and Paul!
Yeah, I have a bunch of those in the chicken coop!
Nice going. Thank you.
Hey Mr Weeks. I hope you’re doing well. You’re awesome
A continuing reward to learn from you and yours!
Thanks Kermit & Company.
This will be such a beautiful plane thanks to your great work!
I'm always happy top see updates on the BF-108!
Wow Paul. Thanks for the update. It's going to be an amazing flying restoration. Beautiful looking engine too.
You guys have the BEST job in the whole G*d D**n World, do you realize that?
Omg that DB605. Bf109 project???? 😍
Thanks for the update it’s always great to hear how the projects are coming along. I like the engine Paul found for the Bf-108 it looks amazing. It would be great also to a see an update on your Bf-109 so cool that you have one being rebuilt.
Thanks Paul. This makes my 1973 Ford Maverick restoration much less frustrating.
thanks for the up date Paul.
Nice work Paul!!
Good progress!
any chance we could see progress on the BF109 project too?? thanks
I ♥️ the BF-108 restoration project.
Thanks for the updates.
amazing watch, thank you so much for sparing your time.
What was the goal of the catalina project? Just to get it disassembled and into storage, or something bigger?
Such an awesome plane! Can't wait to see it all completed and watch it fly!!
What is the plan with the PBY?
It cracks me up how he slinks out of frame at the end of almost every video or even each segment he does as if to fool us into thinking he's heading to where he said he was going for the next segment, when we know he's either going to do another take or going to shut off the camera.
UA-cam recommended a few BF-108 flight videos for me during the last week or so. Apparently the algorithm KNEW your update was imminent! 😆 Thank you for keeping us in the loop !
Still my favorite restoration to watch!
Great job Paul very informative, can't wait for more Mechanic's Corner. Steve.
Fantastic effort great work Paul, even though it's slow going the end product will be worth it.
If you think removing those bulkheads was hard, wait until you try to reinstall them.
At this pace Bf-108 might fly at XXII century. Let's see the schedule: July, 2023 finding the correct screw for speedometer, November, 2023 using CNC machine, because original screw cannot be found. March, 2024 - "we had to remake the screw because it didn't fit". August 2030 - we hired new workers. June, 2031 - "we broke some parts of the wing, and had to order new ones". January, 2100 - we almost done, we had to clone some workers and installed an antigravity device - couldn't find original part, we don't even know if there was original antigravity device, but it had to have it, because of new regulations... June, 2101, - we are right on schedule...
Paul and Kermit, thank you so much for these awesome restoration updates. PLEASE give an update on the Bf-109. Showcasing the DB-605 engine was an incredible teaser. I would also love to hear about your Sikorsky S-38. Thanks again guys!
Some facts about the Argus As 10 engines: During the war production was done by the Walter engine company at Prague / Czechoslovakia, additionally to the Argus plant in Berlin. Walter‘s production continued postwar (for the Czechoslovakian version of the Storch, the Mraz Cap). Interestingly there was a postwar production in France by the Salmson engine company up into the early 1950‘s for their version of the Storch, the Morane-Saulnier MS-500 series, and the Nord built 108’s (Nord 1000). They used the dismantled machinery of Argus‘ Berlin plant. Production ended when Salmson went bancrupt in 1953 due to heavy losses In their car branch.
Argus engines were substituted by Morane-Saulnier with a 300 hp Jacobs, by Nord with a 270 hp Renault.
The Argus is a proven and reliable engine when operated according to the operating manual. Problems occur when not pre-oiled sufficiently. First built in 1928, about 28000 + produced.
Trivia: head of design department for aeronautical engines at Argus during development of the As 10 was Paul Daimler, the oldest son of Gottlieb Daimler.
I'm curious to know what happened to the Curtis Falcon Kermit bought from Bill Barbers widow many (30?) years ago. Do you still have it, if so, what's happening to that?
Hurray! I have enjoyed these bf108 restoration videos and will continue to watch your progress. But, the PBY restoration has begun, apparently. My all time favorite airplane. Is Kermit thinking about a restoration blog on the PBY?
These are the episodes I look forward to.
C'mon Paul, I've watched every episode. I ain't gettin' younger 😅 (unlike your Boss)
Hi, Paul, Thanks for another update on the Bf-108. I could just hear the exitement in your voice as you described the crated "new" restoration of the Argus Engine. I know it will be very happy in it's new home. I can just imagine the excitement that must be building up as the day draws nearer to the final completion of this restoration. God Bless and stay safe.
This is why I’ve been waiting for!!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you for this great update. It‘s always s pleasure to watch the work on the Bf-108. This restoration process is one of the best documented restorations so far. BTW any chance on an Mechanic‘s Corner update on the Bf-109?
Nice to see the 108 coming along. There are a couple of those (wikipedia says 4) flying in Germany and I saw some of them at the Hahnweide Vintage Aircraft Meeting in 2019. This one will probably be the best and shiniest of the lot, but it's still good to see those others flying.
Marty, You're not thinking 4th dimensionally!!!
First - Wow! Fantastic engine to go back into the airplane. That looks absolutely amazing. Secondly - Paul is the pefect man for this job. He really knows his stuff. I like that he pays attention to the details in his work! Im anxious to see the end result. I'm sure it will be well worth all of the effort.
That's awesome. I've said this before but I could watch Paul talk about his work all day. (And a few days I actually have!)
Fantastic work! But drilling out that bulkhead on your back must have been like Michelangelo working on the Sistine chapel ceiling
A short but great episode. But as a Catalina fan, it's nice to see it got also some love!
It may look strange that you don't have any CNC, but required skills aside, I don't think that such airplanes have a lot of machined parts outside the motor. The Vega, being in wood, has surely more of theses to fit parts together.
Thanks a lot for this nice update, I really enjoy your restoration diary !! Greetings from Germany !
Superlative - make my life better - THANK YOU !
Phenomenal work Mr Paul your vids are terrific. Bonus engine!
This is the airplane I'm most excited about... (!)
Awesome I love this series
Always look forwards to seeing you work on this project. 👍🏻
I sure hope I get to see this airplane fly before i die?. BTW I just turned 60.
I gasped when I saw the engine reveal, that is absolutely beautiful
Thank you for the update, very interesting details.
That is going to be a magnificent aircraft when you finish. Been following all the videos
Are PBY videos forthcoming?
Thanks Paul, always interesting! 👍😃
Great video!
Took a while, but I've had my 108 fix! Great to see that things are moving forward & I can't wait to hear that engine fired up!
What a great project and a wonderful work
Amazing how much effort goes into these beautifully restored aircraft. Thank you Paul for the great videos. Cheers from Finland!
It is a great pleasure to watch a real professional in action! Thank you, Paul.👍
Let me get this right you found a engine that's right for the plane in your cluster of parts in the attic 😆 that you forgot about good grief gurdie
Thanks Paul what a legend! Awesome video
True collectors, they don’t even know what all they have!
Thanks Paul for the Messerschmitt Bf-108 - Restoration Update.......
Shoe🇺🇸
When your boss is gonna be flying something, you're doing a complete restoration... that's when you know the man truly trusts you, lol.
Thanks for the new video Paul. Been looking forward to seeing the ongoing restoration.
Excellent update, many thanks.
