Whenever there's a skit in a video essay there's like a 50/50 chance it's definitely a sponsorship.
Speaking of capitalism, did I ever tell you how much I love shaving my ba
You heard it guys, this was said by an actual cookie
Huggbees moment
well until youre past the sponsorship of course
And there's always the "if all sponsorships were like this I wouldn't skip them" comment
I put the 2x part in 0.5x speed, take that, Man.
foiled yet again
I put the 2x part in 2x. What now, HUH?
Cookie bad, cookie good, cookie good, cookie bad
Carry that, man.
@@ManCarryingThingWho is the person in the pfp? Definately doesn't look like the guy in the video.
Capitalism is like eating a cookie.
Communism is like a box of chocolates, my momma always said
@@Foundations01 and there aren’t any?
Money-flavored cookies are my favorite kind.
I keep seeing you in the comments on stuff lately. Your MGS5 S-rank videos are still helpful
socialism when no cookie
the skit in this video ruined my immersion
B but you don't get it
Is meta so is more serious and so you pay attention to why this is stupid in essay videos that talk about why the color brown is racist to pepper pig in season 45 episode 12 in my 4 hour essay
you know what ruins life's immersion? late stage capitalism
@@kingkazawhat in the actual aneurysm
Your immersion ruined the skit for me!

Born to be the Nostalgia Critic, forced to become Every Frame a Painting.
Born to review Mad Max, forced to review The Wall
You know, people always mock the Nostalgia Critic for being cringy (which it definitely is, mind you) but I'd honestly much rather take it over the pretentious BreadTube garbage we have way too much of now. At least it's sincere and tries to be fun rather than constantly virtue-signaling while putting up the facade of being morally righteous when in reality it's just a spiteful, petty attack against the people the video creator disagrees with. Ended up going on a bit of a tangent, but I guess I just had a lot to say. Hope I don't bother anybody with this comment XD.
What happened to Every Frame of Painting? Did they run out of Frame to Paint?
@@TheEldritchHyena idk, nostalgia critic can be pretty mean-spirited and pretentious too.
@@TheEldritchHyenaJust stop watching it and focus on only the seemingly sincere and down to earth ones. Ignore the rest. If you feel like you outgrew someone it's okay, just not for you anymore.
I always have to watch Man Carrying Thing videos on 2x speed. He spends way too much time talking instead of the Carrying Thing. Capitalism
Ntg, you had us in the first half.
I though it was a critique of this youtube channel.
Little did i know it was an essay all along
The true video essay was all the capitalism we made along the way.
has anyone ever even seen him carry a thing
I absolutely LOVE it when I'm trying to watch a video essay and the creator, that I've never seen before, has a tangent full of inside jokes that don't relate to the subject at all.
When they reference a previous video but doesn't give the context so only people who watched that previous video get what they mean. And it's not part of a joke but an actual argument.
Sir. I'm not pausing this video to watch another one just to get the context. Give the context. And then maybe I'll watch your other video when I'm done.
@@Hadeshywell ok but on the other hand those skits and references are inside jokes that the community will get and appreciate.
As a content creator you have to ask yourself. Am I pandering to a wide audience who may be new or to my subscribers who likely have been subbed for a time and will appreciate this.
I think both are fine. Neither is bad. If you enjoy the content outside of the skits and references then it may push a new viewer to go through their backlog. Then they will get those references and appreciate them.
@@AnimatedTerror it's fine to have references and inside jokes, but those should be quick and not the focus.
That's when I click off and save myself 2 hours
@@AnimatedTerror jokes and references are fine.
But using references *in your argument* and without giving the context is just preventing a portion of your viewers to understand a part of your video
It would have been funny if there was a 4 hour video essay during this skit
"How capitalism forced man to be the carryer of thing"
Just you wait, I'm sure he'll drop the "How Al Pacino is CONNECTED to Elmo from Sesame Street" video anytime now.
Dread it, run from it, The Nostalgia Critic's Legacy arrives all the same
Embrace the Nostalgia Critic like a real man, coward.
to be fair, NC videos are reviews, not essays,
you know what, batman pulling out a bat credit card IS funny
@@Ana_Nga bat credit card? They had the BALLS to give Batman a BAT CREDIT CARD!?!
He was the first of his kind and did a lot of cool stuff and I liked him a lot as a high schooler, but having 30% of a video being skits and lore was INSANE.

"I grew up with the Big Bang. I loved it as a kid. I even bought the limited edition Big Bang merchandise, because that's how much of a fan I was. But then the Big Bang cooled down and protons and neutrons began to form and that's like when you take a bite out of a chocolate chip cookie and suddenly discover it was oatmeal raisin all along. And that's why capitalism..."

The 2x speed is so accurate lol
I had the vid at 2x speed during that too, that's how terrible the skit was!!!
yes it is because its a feature 🤯🤯🤯
UA-cam making some good new features
Oops I left my thumb on the screen now I gotta go back
I just click a bunch to skip it
Gotta love when an evil version of the UA-camr shows up and they get into a bad green screen fight!
*gream scream
the game overthinker experience
“x but evil” is the most tired trope in media history and yet it’s going nowhere 😂
@@gratefulcranegames He at least had the decency to actually go outside for that part. That is where I got fed up and stopped watching though
Caddicarus moment
Him pushing the 2x button and then me doing the same in solidarity.
The reaction to the skit appearing was spot on. You’re getting into the video and then suddenly you get derailed by a drama class style attempt at humour.
I didn’t know you could hold your finger down to make video faster. Thank you man
Lol I just learned that with this too
It's a relatively new feature but I use it ALL the time xD
I've heard about it before but forgot about it. I'll probably forget about it again
I saw the 2x pop up on top sometimes but was confused because i watch on 1.4x speed. Now i know why
I also just learned that through this video. Educating us all on UA-cam features, the absolute legend!
A Nord VPN advertisement skirt halfway through a thorough critic of capitalism is my favorite
ah yes
socialism is when no money
capitalism is when sponsorship
you spelled critique wrong hahahahaha !!! minor spelling mistake!!! take that!! bet u feel real sorry now!!!
"You hate the system but you participate in it? Yes I'm very smart"
it really does make you think, huh...
@@kajamatousek247 well yeah, kinda
somehow these two minutes during videos like this feel like hours of the most long, drawn out thing of your life, and then they get into their sponsor for the video
he never skits, the absolute video essay
"Capitalism"
Truer words have never been spoken before
It's a certified hood classic.
Well did the cookie taste good?
I like how this goes straight to the skit, without the point.
"But in order to understand this issue, we have to start from the beginning" *tape rolling*
"Part 1: The Domestication of the House Cat"
This video taught me you can put your thumb on the screen for 2x speed instead of going into the settings🙏, will be using this later, thanks
I didn't know that until you mentioned it! Thanks.
on laptop it works if you hold the space bar (I accidentally discovered that a few months ago)
I didn’t believe you until I tried it myself. 🎉
My only favorite skit in video essay was "Sell it who? AQUAMAN?!"
The skits are okay, I dont even mind the audible shadow legend tank game sponsorship,
it's the 2 minute of "by the way I noticed 99% of you aren't subscribed yet so go ahead and do that now" that makes my blood boil.
No matter how funny they think they're being when they talk about their stats, it's never funny. It's just annoying.
A lot of the time it’s their managers who put them under pressure to say that. Just some behind the scenes context, because it’s annoying as hell but usually the emotional guilt trip part comes from outside influences.
@@dakat5131there are only two jokes I like with stats, "according to youtube, approximately 0% of you aren't subscribed"(depends on the line delivery, see Charlie Slimecicle)
And "according to youtube, only one of you aren't subscribed" (see Orr Pinely)
I HAD NO IDEA I COULD HOLD MY THUMB DOWN TO FAST FORWARD.
THANKS FOR CHANGING MY LIFE.
"To put it simply, and get to the point" *3 more hours of video runtime*
Patrick H willems been pretty silent after this sketch dropped
He's so cringe

Hey yo that’s kind of weird bro why do you like big men caring stuff

Less is more is definitely a saying that should be applied to comedy writing classes
You just taught me that way of playing videos on 2x speed
This is why I love the sponsor block add on. You can skip ads, self promos, and even skip filler content
You just taught me how to easily fast-forward UA-cam videos like an old VHS cassette. I thank you SO much for imparting this knowledge.
“Cookie bad.
Cookie good.
Cookie good.
Cookie bad.”
What an amazing skit! We need more people like this in our society that offer insightful cookie metaphors to the world.
Held my finger down watching this
They’re good in funny commentary videos about a weird thing that happened. Like the way Danny, Drew, and Kurt do them
the feature of holding your screen to double the speed of a vid you're watching is honestly one of the best features youtube has added in a while which isnt a very high bar to cross but still
I'm deeply impressed by the fact that when the hand moved, it acted upon the phone video like it was the camera and moved in sync. Nice effect and neatly done.
Such a skit. Never essays? I got nothin...
Holding for double speed is the best thing UA-cam added in a long time
Thank you! I wish it was easier to share some of these longer video essays with people outside the community but I know they will shut down if they see “skits” at the beginning even if the message of the whole thing is amazingly done. 💙
This is how I feel when sharing a video essay with my family or friends, it sucks ):
i love hes still commiting to the green screen phone bit
I want to thank Man for teaching me about the "hold touch to 2x speed" shortcut, you never miss!
I literally never knew i could hold down on the right to speed up the video
Incredible video essay skills!
The Man knew the exact arm motions his viewers would make while watching the video, and corrected for it in editing! Genius!
Please leave high concept video essays to the professionals - us.
Cookie bad, cookie good. Amazing writing
I just LOVE it when video-essayists are afraid their serious video-essay about a serious topic would be perceived as too serious so they decide to throw in a sketch or two which might be just cringey enough to ruin the whole thing.
We appreciate how well you articulate your insights. You'll always have our support.
video essayists can turn a perfectly good video that i might be able to show my parents into a video that my parents would definitely not take seriously with this one easy trick
Thank you Drew Gooden, your mid-essay skits are awesome as usual!
I wanna know who Patrick Willems is making videos for. It's half video essay about Adam West's Batman and half sketch about an evil coconut and multiple universes. And what's more is the coconut sketch is part of a serialized storyline? Then he says the ending of the coconut story is only on Nebula? It's so confusing.
The 2x speed made me laugh out loud
Another amazing skit from Man Carrying Thing! Can't wait to see where he outs it in his next video essay.
This video taught me how to fast forward. Now I don’t have to sit through those overly-long Man Carrying Thing videos for as long.
every Patrick Willems videos is like this
That sigh is a good example of how we all feel when this happens
the part about acting chops is so fucking true
No view in 8 seconds, you fell of brother
No views, and yet, 71 likes.
[long unnecessary skit about falling off]
"THAT REMINDS ME OF A TIME"...
24 view in 6 minutes, you fell of brother
A shame indeed 😥
he’s yet to miss
I just learned you can hold on the right side of the screen to fast forward. Thank you man who carries thing. very cool!
The best Man Carrying Thing punchline is "Capitalis-"
Love how the video adjusts to the movement :P
I, for one, definitely appreciate it when a video essay for grown adults uses a puppet show to illustrate a serious point.
Thank you Man for teaching me I can press down on the right side of the screen to speed up a video
You just made me realize we can x2 the speed of videos by holding the finger on it and i don't know how i spent that much time on youtube without noticing it was a thing
I love skits that have video essays in them
Patrick Willems
Thanks for making good short videos
Perfectly cut punchline
learned a new yt feature from this one
This video more than anything, taught me that holding down the right side of a video speeds it up
Thanks to this video, I learned you can press and hold a video in YT to speed it up x2
I actually did not know holding the screen fast forwards. Wow man Carrying lessons over here.
When's the MCT top board games review go up?
I only use YT on my desktop browser and I noticed they added that a while back, and it's rather annoying as it's easy to accidentally trigger if you're not used to it being a feature.
@@seigeengine Sometimes I try to click to pause and it speeds up for a moment instead of just pausing.
At least the skit was actually related to what the video is about, it's surprisingly common for them not to be.
HE NEVER MISSES!
that sigh says a lot of things
[Patrick H Willems sobbing in distance]
So sad that no one ever takes the cookies that man has been carrying.
Man I hate it when I'm watching a skit and then suddenly there is a video essay in it!
Actually so accurate, it feels like it takes the video forever to start
I’m looking at you, Patrick (H) Willems
Every time I watch a Patrick h willems video
This video is how i discover that you can hold the screen for 2x speed. Thanks, Man Carrying Thing
this video taught me that I could fast forward youtube videos so now I can nourish my brain 4 times as fast
Patrick Willems! Taking five years to get his well reasoned point across while interrupting with unfunny ‘skits.’
the video ending with "capitalism" of all things is the cherry on top
I love to make skits in my commentary videos, and yes it’s because I can show off my acting chops. I gotta get use of my degree somehow!
You just described the whole Channel Awesome's existence in 40 sec
Patrick H. Willems.
This is why I watch anything by Patrick (H) Willems starting from the halfway point. Jeremy Jahns and Chris are all I need for quick movie reviews.
This video taught me that the UA-cam app has a fast forward feature, I always just double tapped to skip 10 seconds at a time
The little phone people not moving when the phoned moved was cool
Feliz navidad
You too
Classic man carrying a phone
I honestly do get annoyed by skits in the middle of essays/reviews. I think it’s partly because the people in them usually don’t have a whole lot of acting experience so the dialogue/performances don’t come across as “natural.”
I'm so glad there's a browser extension for that
