I think Terry must have been one of those guys who constantly rubbed people the wrong way in general.
Yeah saw some shoot interviews of him and he comes across as a prick. I mean I rub people wrong too due too being an introvert, who who would rather be by himself but Terry has some unjustified arrogance too him
You don't know the man there were far worse people who prospered in wrestling @@alexandru5369
I heard JR or maybe it was Bruce Pritchard say that others in the back saw him as a know-it-all type, so pretty consistent with what Missy is saying.
His “Duthy” Rhodes impression really pissed off the WCW booker. Both Dr. Tom Pritchard and Jim Cornette said that Terry Taylor biggest problem was that he couldn’t shut his mouth, sometimes goofing on management, other times just politicking and agitating backstage.
I remember a Terry Taylor-Lex Luger match from almost forty years ago where Lex went over, but it was so obvious that Terry was carrying the match, reading the crowd, etc. He was a good face and a good heel.
Similar to Brian Pillman; his wrestling style and offense was very babyface, but personality wise, a natural heel.
Pillman could be either, but he was a real bad ass. TT was a good worker in the ring, but scared nobody.
@LooseCan88 I'd say the opposite with Pillman, when he was a babyface in WCW he wrestled an aggressive style, same with Sting
@@drexlspivey5828 I dont mean style, I mean in terms of their persona more so
He had bad knees and his mobility really started to slow down right when he was getting attention from national companies. Terry Taylor in Memphis was a hummingbird in the ring compared to Taylor in the WWF or his later stint in WCW.
That and he wasn't a tremendous promo. If he had been a great promo that could have covered the difficulties he was starting to show in the ring. But prime Terry Taylor was a legit main event star.
He was good in mid south back in the 80’s
He wasn't good in mid south, he was great. When the flying forearm hit, you knew it was over
Bobby Heenan stated in an interview that he thought the Red Rooster character was extremely dumb and would never work and Taylor was never going to make it past mid-card with it. He was right. Wonder if it was Vince punishing Taylor by giving him this gimmick, much like Dustry Rhodes in the polka dots with Sapphire as his "manager".
Definitely one of the most ridiculous characters in wrestling history. Right up alongside Doink, the bushwhackers, giant Gonzalez etc
Why wasn't Terry Taylor a bigger star? Two words: Red Rooster.
Surprised she didn't mention this.
Vince ruined him. Terry was hot in mid south. When the flying forearm hit....you knew it was over
@@ScottSmith-xy3jk Yep. If Taylor had been with them ten years earlier, he would've been in the upper midcard with Strongbow, Monsoon and Garea. He was a white meat babyface type in WWF at a time when it wasn't cool to be one.
No. People like to chirp about the Rooster gimmick…but it had no effect on his overall career. He was an ordinary middle-of-the-card guy before and after that WWF Rooster run.
@@cheesecakemousetrap BS. He was being groomed to be NWA champ before going to the WWF.
Terry Taylor kinda like the Ted McGinley of the territories. When he showed up, there was probably only a season or 2 left.
Terry Taylor's signature move is the "pregnancy scare"
Help me?
Tell us more!
You forgot Tony Atlas too!!!
Terry was a stooge
"I thought I had the shortest, but Buff Bagwell beat me."
Lou Albano was fired, officially or unofficially, many times by the WWWF/WWF/WWE.
York Foundation
He lacked presence
Not even Terri Runnels can help Terry's career.
British Bulldog was let go 4 times 🇬🇧
You know how many times I was at an event and caught Terry yelling out his room number to the rats? Lots. Terry cheated on his wife like restaurant owners cheated on their taxes. As much as possible.
Taylor could be his own worst enemy.
you kill us by not releasing the entire interview at once but i get why you dont it
Missy talking about her period...
Red Rooster was absolutely the worst gimmick ever in
the history of wrestling…! Yet , I’ve started to wonder , what if he really embraced it and put his own spin on it ?
Maybe if he had shaved his head into a Mohawk , dyed it Bright red , got a red leather MC jacket , acted super fired up and crazy all the time ? More of a punk/psychobilly rebel than a cartoon character….?
That would have been absolutely brilliant!
He wasn’t big but you guys are talking about him😂😂😂
He should have been
Terry Taylor wasn't a bigger star because he never stayed in one territory for too long, similar to Tom zink
Remember folks: in the mid 80s, she was an absolute fox.
Oh we remember. Do you remember when Missy hurt her thumb thumb and couldn't wrestle that mean ole Dark journey?
not relevant but true
Trump/Tulsi '24
Terry Taylor wasn't a "bigger star" because his wrestling was plain in the ring. Boring even.
Ah he was a decent wrestler, especially in the mid South. The problem is that he was a bland character overall. His promos were poor.
He was pretty good in Mid South....I think he would have been a bigger star if the territory era had continued
Disagree. His matches were great. He was a natural.
Terry had the charisma of a piece of cardboard. Thts why he wasn’t a big star. Good looking guy. Who was a decent worker 👋.
Why he didn't get over two words
Red rooster🐓
No, the Rooster gimmick had no effect. His career would never fly beyond midcard even if he had the Undertaker gimmick.
Just upload the interview already james ffs .
Didn’t he have an injury in his prime. UWF days???? Car accident or leg injury or something I thought.
He had 2 car accidents. One in '84. Another in '87.
