In the UWF/Mid South, Terry Taylor was above Jake and deservedly so. He was a good worker in the ring as heel or baby. Promos were slowly getting better. Jake is playing the recovered junky role to the hilt. But at least he acknowledges that he is still a dirtbag who enjoys looking down on others. I just watched an interview with Heenan and he didn’t care for Taylor’s work. I think he said Terry lied to him when Heenan was on commentary for WCW and Taylor was office.
Taylor never was anything. He was a sub-par worker who lacked mic skill and charisma. Basically a dollar store version of Curt Hennig. And a massive racist.
I think Dusty Rhodes is one of the very few wrestler who could have got being the "Red Rooster" over. He would have had half of the audience doing the chicken dance along side himself. He got polka dots over.
Problem is terry didnt really do anything different as the rooster he didnt act like a overly cocky heel or anything that stood out. He acted bland in the ring and promos and on many occasions looked lost. I think he could of got it over if he acted like an over the top ric flair abd stayed heel
I think it was a poor mans ric flair gimmick cuz everyone knows ric flair was the cock of the walk had the strut and the girls thats how you make that gimmick work as for who taylor pissed off i think he said it was dusty rhodes on the plane one night he was making fun of his voice and the rest is history i guess

I saw Terry in WWE before he got the Rooster gimmick, he was kind of like Flair in his ring robe and style. That Rooster thing was awful
