It was my love of logic that led me to Christ; I opened up to faith when I realized the statistical chance of biblical prophesies being right without being given by an all-knowing God was virtually non-existant! I barely had time to think the thought before I had a feeling that I cannot describe as anything else than the Holy Spirit. It was as if I hesistantly stretched out my hand and the Lord grabbed it immidiately!
I do not struggle with the law whatsoever: I know for a fact that I was not worth saving and never can be, and yet the Lord did!
My brokenness was my blessing. I knew I could not handle all on my so I surrendered. This was a beginning of freedom and my friendship with Jehovah

Seeing the world today as it is peddling fear and rage like a shameless street merchant, I find strength in relying on Christ. I have no fear anymore. I'm not a big fan of pain and suffering, but if that is what comes my way, I know for a fact that it is temporary, but a blink of an eye in the spectrum of eternity.
The latter scares me though. God has promised us eternal life through our faith in Christ Jesus, and our God is not one of lies, so eternal life literally means eternal life and I am not sure that I can handle that.

@Charlene...I work 6 days a week and rest on the sabbath (Friday evening to Saturday evening). I am hard working person but don’t rely on myself anymore. It is all His grace I live by ...I don’t share this with many people because blind would not understand how the light looks like...

The problem with the example given here of praying not to be independent, is that the practice of asceticism is independent of God, it is an unscriptural attempt to produce an elite holy class, but instead of producing true holiness, has yielded gross sin and unholiness. So prayer without obedience to and knowledge of God's Word is futile.

Maybe this was said at a different time than but I've always called myself a fundamentalist Christian. That doesn't have negative connotations for me because it means I follow biblical Christianity, not modern Christianity.

Cessationism is a belief that rose out of the Protestant Reformation that certain supernatural gifts we find in the book of Acts have ceased since the time of the first Apostles, or are not things all some/believers can do on demand. So things like speaking in tongues, prophecy, etc. We still believe that God works through Christians to perform miracles, but we don't believe this is a gift available to all Christian's at all times like you see in the Charismatic movement or the NAR. We do believe that Christian's can be used to cast out devils, but again, not on demand, nor that everything sinful or problematic in our lives is a devil as some denominations tend to assume. We do believe that tongues as a miracle is still possible as well, but not an unintelligible language unknown to humans, and again, only by a miraculous work of God's choosing. We do believe that God still heals, but we don't believe this is a "spiritual gift", nor that there are people who can do it on demand at all times, or only if the person they're praying for has enough faith.
I could go more deeply into it, but a lot of people assume cessationists don't believe God still does all of these things, because we do. We simply do not believe that they're for all believers at all times and at their own behest.

Did we die for the law in the body of Christ so that we live for him or did He killed the law? The law cannot die as it is righteous and eternal. Besides Christ came to fulfill the law than to kill or replace it. I am confused.
Don't you feel intellectually inferior because you believe what the Bible says or teaches! Through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we are dead to the law. Through Christ, we are able to bring forth fruit unto righteousness, not depending upon our own abilities! We are united in union with Christ. Romans 7:4-6 The Bible teaches us that the sting of death is sin and the strength of sin is the law. Read I CORINTHIAN 15:56 There is nothing wrong with the law, it is perfect! The problem is with us! We don't have the ability within our own selves to do that which is right and avoid temptations!You see, the essential nature of our flesh is to trust in ourselves! The essence of sin is to refuse to depend on God. We want to be like God but we don't want to depend entirely upon Him in every area of our lives! Amen. It's an attitude of self-reliance that shuts the Grace of God out of our lives. An attitude of self-righteousness that says I don't need God, I can do it by myself!
