As an architecture student, I am glad there are people like you documenting this type of content with so much detail. I aspire to work on similar projects in future. Thank you ✨
That cladding looks great! Also, very good idea to replace the smaller screws with bigger headed ones: they not only give a stronger fastening but a more industrial look to the wood (more in the style of carpentry and less in the style of woodworking) which becomes your house design. Congratulations once more for sharing your designing skills, hard work and attention to detail. Hope you & your wife may soon enjoy such wonderful home.
The scale of the build is starting to show now. The design looks very modern with warmth and feel. It definitely stands out in the neighbourhood but still is comfortable there. The standard of the details and construction is both interesting, as a person from New Zealand Zealand aren't built like that here and skillfully carried out to my untrained eye. I'm really looking forward to seeing the interior detail and the project completed. Well done all around.
That's some serious engineered wall! Wood clading is there just as heat shield and looks? Are you worried those free joined/hanging plank ends will warp eventually and misaligne? Overall looks grand!
They are fixed to each other by a piece of wpc behind so I don't fear they will warp. I used small screws so they are harder to see but you can still see them in a few frames like 8:29. Glad you like it, thank you!:)
I just discovered this project and it's like... I wish a hadn't... It feels like waiting for the new episode of Friends to be aired each Monday on the TV... So 90ties. I'm joking... It is such a great project and I learn so much!
It's just about the most beautiful thing ever. The vertical piece is missing because it will be added at some later point as an integrated antennae of some sort. The antennae could really be added anywhere but it would be cleaner to do it the way you are doing it so that's how it's going to go and that's that:-) *edit two minutes later, it's for the power mast for the service entry!
Thank you very much!:) The answer is much simpler.. I failed to order the correct amount of brackets and I couldn't hold of the work that was coming after it.. Hopefully it will hold with one missing;)

Wow, this is a huge transformation, the larch cladding is really nice. I have my walls also done with outside insulation now, and the same 1,5mm silicon render. And I'm really happy with the looks. Using wood cladding was not possible for me as it is an existing house and I can't alter the outside too much.
Yes, silicone render is great quality and it even comes with anti bacterial and anti fungal properties. As for the cladding, wood is my profession and doing a facade without it was simply not an option:)

Maybe not this extreme, but in the Netherlands for instance almost all houses are two layers of stone with insulation between them, making them about 45cm thick. More mass build rowhouses are concrete pre-cast slabs that are listed in place, finished with insulation and brick on the outside.
Is the missing vertical piece left out for some sort of water drainage? Amazing build so far. I've really enjoyed seeing it take shape, and it really is shaping up to be a stunning house!

Yes I had the same worry when we did the same kind of cladding on the workshop 5 years ago. It's been too long since we had an update from you! I can totally see what you are doing and which direction you are going with this house! I love it! Hey😀 with all the work I must be honest, we had to put some of the planned instrument projects aside, as soon as violin comes to the table I will come in contact. I thought like that also but we have the same kind of cladding on the workshop and we had no such issues for 5 years now. Reason is that this doesn't provide as much protection from the elements as one would think. Water drains on the backside of the boards as well, also hot circulating air during summer doesn't make it very hospitable environment.. It is basically open space rather than a cavity. Closed spaces with small holes or slits are are much more at danger from issues like this.

Your masterpiece is coming along beautifully sir, but your videos should be at least 90 mins long or set up multiple cameras and livestream the rest of the build.
I just might do that for my next big build, I'm not sure real time would be of much interest to people though.. I could be wrong, I thought the same when starting youtube channel.. who would want to watch the stuff I do I thought..
@@lignumchannel We love seeing real experts at work and no video is too long
Are you ready to build the best chicken coop ever? Then you need this book! ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxzaRUJNcbypw-fRBDbqqz43ULIa-1EGP- It has tons of awesome barns and coops that you can choose from, without making you dizzy with too many options. The book is super easy to follow, with lots of pictures and videos to show you how it's done. But don't expect to learn everything about chickens here, this book is all about the structures. You'll have to look elsewhere for chicken care tips. Trust me, this book is a must-have for any chicken lover!
Gimme job I'm black
