  • Its a bit of give and take replacing the tyres for more aggressive tread given the number of tarmac kilometres before they are really needed, but id rather have the bike sorted before I go. Although I was unaware as to how difficult they would be to get swapped over.

Good choice on tyres just got the same on my desert x It feels like 3X the grip off-road although a bit noisy on road but it’s always a trade off. I changed the tyres myself and no issue with balance and friends say the same. It seems like the weights on first balance generally work going forward got any subsequent tyres as they’re still perfectly balanced riding without a rebalance. I got a centre stand from sw motech. Have a good trip!

Might want to watch a few more videos before you rush out for a set though.

Thank, but already did it 3 times, including tire changes manually 😎

The only informations missing are the torque values of the front screws, the use of Loctite for the break screws plus the use of copper paste for the main axle screws, if you ever wanna losen these again out in the field.
    Rear and Front Nut:
    front 63 Nm
    rear 180 Nm
    fork end clamp 19 Nm

    Hi,
Im enjoying the series. You are documenting very similar mods to what I plan to complete, so thank you for you work.
Quick question with regards to the number plate holder: Do you have a tail tidy fitted or some sort of modification from OEM?
    Thanks!
Edit: Sorry, another question: What paddock stands are you using?

Thanks for that Samuel, This is the OEM tail. I haven't modified anything there. But have noticed there are a couple of different ones. The paddock stands I have are the Oxford Premium paddock stands. They hold it up not a problem.

If you tuck a rag on top of the sprocket and roll the wheel backward, it will tighten the chain and pull the wheel all the way to the axle blocks. Next, tighten your axle nut.

I wouldn't advise using the paddock stand bobbins when riding off road or riding through deep ruts , also you not going to be taking a paddock stand with you so they not really needed in the bush, they will get snagged or big enough hit could snap off in the thread, also loose them rubbers off the foot pegs, you want your boots to have good grip 👍

Yeah ive got 3500km of road riding before I get to any big ruts, thats why they are still on there along with the stand rubbers. Makes it so much easier if I do need to visit a mechanic.
