    Initially, the company had a marketplace where black-owned brands could sell their products and connect with creators who would promote these products to their followers. However, the entrepreneur mentions that they have put a pause on the marketplace because it wasn't scalable and required a lot of manual work. Instead, they are focusing on launching a creator community and investing in making it a significant part of their business.

      As a person who specializes in web design/development, shopify is absolutely the wrong platform to use for attempting to build out the type of marketplace she desires. Trying to deploy stores for resellers will be ever shopify fails her. I would suggest WordPress for a multistore marketplace.

    This is a great idea. I currently do ugc work as a creator. Maybe she should drop the marketplace part. Let them sell their own product. Connect them with influencers to get marketing gift the product and pay them a fee. Boom you served both parties by connecting them.

    I 100% disagree with Dave in tech no point wasting money to build a product nobody will use. Takes some company years just to find product market fit.

  • @ganonmaster
    @ganonmaster 5 місяців тому +6

    Good Hot Seat. But I think David is missing a huge component of UX/UI/Product management is to understand feasability and product-market fit (or maybe he wasn't missing the point?)... It is essential to launching any product/tech/software. And even after a launch you have to constantly reiterate and research and test... That is why UA-cam, IG, video games, etc will slowly make updates, as to not totally disrupt user experience. So it appears that Jordyn knows the problem, but needs to go back to the drawing board on how her tech will tangibly solve it. But it also sounds like Jordyn is caught up in doing events/webinars to source user feedback which works, but the most important feedback should be derived from a prototype of the tech...
    So David is kinda right that her focus should be building tech and getting UX feedback. Jordyn needs to put more structure and strategy around the tech/product launch as much as her events. She should have a roadmap of the product established before getting more events planned. Her community / focus group feedback won't do much if they're based on hypothetical conversations of a product that they cannot engage with or even touch.
    They need to launch and then fail forward fast.
    EDIT: I typed all of this before they got Alton on the phone lol.

    She need to build from her current insight regarding the site. Take all the user experience from the previous launch, and fix those issues.. I get what David is saying, and he provided great insight with this hot seat, I need to invest in his “morning meetup” so I can get a different perspective on entrepreneurship.

    Onboarding Solution:
    Use conditional logic for onboarding. Your signup form should have certain specific questions for both the seller and influencer. If certain boxes arent checked, then they dont get approved.

    This was good. I think you gave needed critiques. I do feel like you go in on the ladies though and let a lot of the men get away with foolishness. You stop the ladies and question their line of thinking with directness. With the men you just chuckle a lot of times and talk around the actual issue and highlight why you like them.
