Bro another dope beat!!! Keep putting out this type of content. I like this type of tutorial specifically because it gives us insight into how to actually construct AND arrange an R&B beat which is something I’ve been trying to figure out since last year! Being a visual learner it’s nice to actually see what’s being done. You are a blessing man. Keep up the good work and I’ll be looking forward to the release of your course.
Hey brother, love this man. So glad to hear that you're finding this level of value in my content man. Comments like this keep me motivated to keep putting the content out. And also to hurry up and finish this course haha. Appreciate you bro!
Stating the fact about you almost going into "over -production" was a light bulb while watching this....... .....loving your videos. Very eloquently spoken and explained. Thank You.... p.s. I need Satin Looks now *macho tears*
More of the same. No one is quite going what you are. NI can support you enough. Didn't give a flip about their stuff until I started watching your videos 💯. One think that might be good to see more of is effects and other mixing/ mastering skills that go well with these sounds. Thanks man!
@@stefanguy I think my biggest issue is going off of old knowledge. I’m an older guy. So I can get settled and overthink in my thoughts at the same time. I will say this. Watching this video for about 3 hours now, I’ve realized I have tools. I think I’m just using them wrong, for me and my skill level. And another thing is filling in gaps of things that I don’t know is also challenging. Cause at times I don’t know where to start.
Happy New Year Bro! Appreciate the in depth yet easy to follow break downs and tutorials on structuring R&B beats. And been with Melodics a few years now thanks to you and my production has improved greatly because of it!
Yo bro, I have a few vids on the integration on my channel you know! Just head to my channel and via the search function on the right, type in Maschine and my vids will come up. What other genres would you like to hear?
@@stefanguy I've checked them before! It's just I don't find how to integrate that workflow into a composing template. Perhaps other mainstream genres, like reggaeton, lofi, drill, or even electronics. Maybe make it as a challenge and show other producers your thinking process
Ah I feel you! Most often than not i’m just using the Maschine in MIDI mode and using it with Logic’s drum machine designer. I would advise building kits with it and saving them. You can do cool things like I’ve done i.e putting the note repeat or arp MIDI fx on a hi-hat and you can save those templates. And thanks for the feedback on genre’s i’ll def take this on board for future videos!
Really loving your tutorials, the progressions, the sound selection,.... One thing that would really help out is to have some kind of on screen keyboard displayed. That would make it soo much easier to follow and learn those complex progressions you use. Looking forward to your next videos, and thanks for sharing your knowledge !!
Hey Ed, thanks for the positive and constructive feedback! I've been looking into the screen keyboard, especially for my course however I've had some challenges in making it look good. I've found it hard to perfectly line up the screen keys with my actual keys. I guess I need to spend some more time with it to get it set up right!
Fire bro🔥🔥Happy New Year🙏🏽 And I gotta challenge for you lol One of these day I would really like to see how you would approach a 90s-2000s Rnb project, Slow style like Boyz ll Men, K-Ci & Jo Jo etc or the vibey ones like So into you by Tamia etc Should be mad interesting 😂😂🙏🏽
loved everything about this. the chord progression is perfect! only thing i'd say is the piano felt a little awkward in the mix for some reason, feel like the beat would be better w/o it. i'd love to see a video on how you craft your chord progressions.
Thanks bro! Yeah I get that, the chorus definitely doesn’t need it but I like it in the verses. I didn’t want it to be very loud though. I’m in the long process of writing a course on it! Hoping to drop it next quarter!

Hey Stefan, amazing video as per usual, you've really come into your own. I recently switched to Logic and I used to exclusively use Maschine with Ableton. How do you go about using your drums because my Maschine has been gathering dust and I want to still use my expansions / battery kits, but I want to keep everything in logic. I've tried using Maschine as a plugin, but if I deviate from the traditional 4 bar or 8 bar structure making drums becomes a pain. how do you go about it? would you be willing to make a video on how you do your drums? This got a bit long but what I'm trying to ask is whether you use DMD, Battery or Maschine for your drums! Thank you, and looking forward to the next video!!! (also the IG link in your bio doesn't work)
Hey man, firstly thank you so much! Secondly I use DMD with Maschine in MIDI mode. The new drum machine designer is the best way to program drums in Logic now by far in my opinion. It’s quick to use and automatically creates a fully functional channel for each sample you load in. This means you can route each sample anyway you’d like and you can place MIDI FX on individual samples like I have in this video with the note repeat. I hope this helps!
@@stefanguy Thanks for the extensive reply Stefan! This has helped a lot, I'll give it a try and hopefully I can get back to producing because it's had me stumped. I felt the same way about DMD so I'm glad that's what you use too, it integrate really well. One last small question, how do you integrate your Maschine expansions / samples? or do you prefer to just get splice samples and build your own library slowly? Thank you, and the IG link works now! excited to see your next video!!
Awesome! So with maschine expansion samples you can actually access them from Finder or in the Logic browser window. And drag them into the DMD. Hope that makes sense!
Appreciate your tutorial brother. @2:24 are you using maschine as a plug-in in logic? If not, how else are you getting that note repeat function on the hi hat?
@@stefanguy that’s what I was thinking. I am tweaking my beat template daily to get the best workflow. I have to replace battery with DMD and then I should be good 👍. Thanks bro
Thanks man! Yeah I store them on an external but I store my most used sounds on my Mac locally. Just in case I forget my external when out and about. I have a 512GB SSD so I have the space too. But yeah external SSD is the way. If you're using a Mac make sure it's formatted in the same way as your local drive. If that's Mac OS Journaled or the new APFS format.

Who do you hear on this? Also if I made sample packs out of these videos, would you buy them? Or should I lease the beats instead?
Leasing them won’t be a a bad idea
