- From invalidation, and humiliation, to the threat of outing and in extreme cases, abusive conversion therapy, mental health practitioners can, in many cases, do more harm to people of the queer community than good. LGBTQIA+ activists, therapists, and members of the community tell us why there is a need for more queer affirmative therapists in India.

India needs to go a long way to accept people the way they are and the way they want to be.
As a 16 year closeted girl I constantly think about how my parents will react if I come out because I've seen how homophobic they are
Don't worry !!!
Don't overthink
Everything will be fine with time..........💙
@@MrBOI-xd6cw thank you so much!!
@@gayyyyy2 No worries....
I understand your problem because i am also 16 .......
So try to be happy and see positive thing in your surroundings.....✨✨✨✨
Me: A queer, closeted girl from an extremely religious, conservative christian family. My sister is super supportive. But my homophobic, biphobic, transphobic and queer-phobic parents would never. So I'm determined to stay in the closet 'til I'm independent enough
@@MrBOI-xd6cw omg you're 16 too!! So are you questioning?
I think I'm bisexual but I can't say that outloud
Why do you want to tell people out loud that you like both men and woman?
Have you seen any man or woman saying out loud "hey I like men,hey I like woman, hey I like trans" you don't see that now do you ya? I've never seen that?
@@abhinay172 because if she doesn't say it out loud, people will assume she's straight. Some people don't want to live with a false identity.
And bro, their are so many songs and movies and real life incidents where straight men and women say out loud that they like the other gender only. Which society are you living in?
@@abhinay172 obviously people directly or indirectly always in the verge of expressing their heterosexuality and it is the problem that everyone is assumed to be straight or someone who just only likes the opposite gender...Such point of view creates the invisibility of the queer community...So, obviously the people who belongs to the LGBTQIA+ Community should express their sexuality or gender identity to make people aware of their presence until the society acknowledges the diversity of people of all gender identity & sexuality and accepts & treats them equally just like a straight person....Hope to see an egalitarian or all inclusive or all accepting society in the near future where people will be judged based on their capability & behaviour as a person & not based on who they love/like or what gender they indentify themselves as❤
Hope you got the point now
Ok napunsak
@@prakharsrivastava5933 lol she's a woman...And educate yourself on human sexuality before talking meaningless crap here😂😅🤣
As a queer, we constantly have battles with our own thoughts, existence, feelings and on the other hand, other individuals invalidate our traumas, feelings and thoughts, it feels so hopeless and bleak. how can someone invalidate someone's experience just because they havent gone through them.
Quint, am a gay preparing for civil services..... I would like to give my interview to your channel.....
I wanna speak up about gay dating applications like grinder,it's impact on our lives ...
Also, would like to speak about mental issues we face due to impermanent relationships...
It will be nice if u clear the xam ! U will be a great example
Look dude,no one gives a damn about your sexuality!you clear the upsc,Good for you.If you are efficient, good for the country.
Everyone has some or the other kind of mental issues;get help when you feel like it is necessary;appealing to anyone else is not going to help.
more power to you.
@@finpro942 See idea is not to plead sympathy..Idea is to make people ware of the existence of this community.LGBTQ community is the least talked about and least concerned about in policy formulation....I'm not at all feeling weak fortunately owing to good background.I would like to extend my voice to those people who are living in fear to accept one's own sexuality....
Hopefully the future will look different. I'm a psychology student, and I want to work for queer people someday. Loads of my classmates are like me too, do hopefully the future isn't too bleak
Yet another useful article by Quint. Thank you for showing what matters.
Isn’t conversion therapy illegal?
Why u guys don't make a video on Sikh protesting in Jammu against love jihad ?
Yes
Cause they don't care...
Unless it's something to do with mocking India they don't care
Perhaps they are waiting for the cloud to get cleared and will come up with the real story.
@@riturajmitra they are waiting for a Hindu upper caste to kill a lower caste somewhere in village
So they can spread propaganda , thats what they are waiting for
@@Noone-gz8li well, they are not Govt inclined media which will get away with legal actions in case they spread false propaganda. So I guess, they are doing the right thing to wait and watch till the actual story comes out.

Queer people behaviour different as seen different by d society right why u yourself put in this situation ?? If u put into u have bear it right.
True. When professional doctors are saying that they are different and have to change and augment their behaviour to normal. The doctors are called homophobes.
@@immammuddin5019 professional doctors are part of society too. And some of them are too bigoted to accept and help queer people. Their opinion is not based on research and facts, it's based on dogma. And that's why they are homophobic, understood?
@@kinoxxan how can you come to a conclusion that he is talking from dogma and not research. What facts have you got to prove it otherwise?
@@immammuddin5019 there are a lot of research to prove that being LGBT is natural. It has been found in a lot of species.
@Aaliyah queer people don't choose to be queer. They're born that way. Why would someone choose to be queer, seeing that society is so against it?
I think we should be cautious in “affirmative care”. In the USA, affirmative care has also ruined people’s lives as doctors and therapists feel scared to deny any treatment, due to the fear of being labelled as transphobic etc.
It’s a slippery slope that must be treaded very carefully.
I have nothing against LGBTQ community but I'm against celebrating It as if it is a "better" alternative...it's like having straight parade across cities....keep your stuff to yourself and don't mind others...this dosent make you any special or unique.
💯
Well, I think they do all the parades not to portray themselves as "better". But to let people know that there is something other than the traditional genders and reduce the prejudice against them.
This
pride month and pride parade arent to say that being gay is better. its actually more related to the struggles of the gay community and the stonewall riots of 1969. its more of a commemorative and symbolic gesture to acknowledge the prejudice and discrimination the lgbtq+ community has gone through and how far theyve come despite those struggles (there is still a long way to go though)
like us celebrating dusshehra and burning raavan as a symbol of victory of good over evil , in the same way pride month is to celebrate the identity of these people who have long been criticised for it
@@riturajmitra they don't need parades for that..of they are uncomfortable in their present sexuality they can explore it and find their appropriate match... dosent justify parading it as if it's a special thing. Maybe have educational classes at your "own" places instead of using public places.
Story of Anjana Hareesh as described here at the beginning is nonsense...recently there was an interview with her mother on local news. She is from kerala and her mother narrated with tears how this younglady was pushed into drugs by her college friends, especially the one you can see here at 0:27 in the pic with her...they literally groomed her, manipulated her, abused her and caused her death;NOT her family.
In USA the so called 'affirmative care' and transition surgeries done at a young age has made people's lives miserable...the so called Queer affirmative therapists infact push kids and teens into confusion...some even advice transitioning without Gender dysphoria. The so called activists are mostly posers seeking attention.Check out Blair White ,the transwoman who is vocal about people of this kind.
India needs to impose stricter laws regarding this lgbtq and same sex marriage . Just look what's happening in the USA.
There are so many other countries than USA where LGBT+ is accepted and still they don't have any problems from it. Why? Cause they don't make a big issue outta it. Example is Netherlands 🇳🇱 and many other countries. It's not about LGBT+ it's about how and where a country focus things on.....
@@pluviophile5996 coause others hide
@@pluviophile5996 You sure there are no problems? They are literally indoctrinating kids by talking gender ideology nonsense in classrooms and confusing kids. The parents are going against school boards in every state and seeking legal action.
