Quality of materials on the Black Phantom batters the rest to be honest. It’s just quite muted compared to the others and people want a Travis to flex a little.

I've spent over $1k or close to $1k on shoes about 10 times. But it's always been designer shoes that retail for that amount. That's just because I have a weird mental block that makes me feel OK to pay $1k retail but not $100 above retail for others... it's actually very stupid because the ones that resale higher maintain value better.... it's just something i haven't been able to mentally overcome. It's not even about the money. We'll drop $300+ on a dinner that's finished in 2 hours, but my brain won't let me pay $100 over retail on something I genuinely like
🤣🤣 I know what you mean - the extrinsic value that comes with hype / rarity and collectibility can be hard to reconcile when you know the retail price is so much lower but those same values tend to hold in the shoe making it a worthwhile cop in most instances

I just got the Travis/Fragment low’s and I was kinda disappointed with the leather quality!?! Thankfully I hit on the Olive low’s and sold them considering they wasn’t my size and I ended paying the difference so I’m okay with that I guess?

Resell has gotten a bit out of control in recent years but it’s an important market for collectors and isn’t always tax / I’ve cooped lots of good steaks on the resell market
It’s all material at the end of the day and depending on what lens you’re looking through I can understand what you’re saying - bottom line is they’re worth what people will pay for them and the markets pretty buoyant on these
