I havent built a model since 90's. Got back in the hobby, 1/32 Revell Harrier Gr.1...its a nightmare 😅...still not finished since i got 2nd baby 1 week ago. Once i get done with Harrier, this will be my next build (have also Revell 1/72 ASSTA, 1/48 Eduard IDS & ECR and 1/48 Revell Gr.4 Farewell). I did build Italeri Gulf Tornado in the 90's and also 1 German in 1/72 scale. Have about 75-100 models on shelves waiting to be build but Tornado is one of my favourite planes(beside F-14). So glad i found your videos which will help me through some things. I think i watched your Kinetic Harrier Gr.1/3 build(also have that since i wanted good Harrier model since Revell 1/32 is just terrible). Awesome build!
Just watched this series back to back and wow the weathering was amazing wasn't sure how far I was gonna take it but the 'seen action' look is the way forward I think..thank you for a brilliant series and a insight to what I have to look forward too
No worries dude thanks! Personally, a clean model is an unfinished model lol but like I said in the reply to your previous comment it's up to you how far you want to take it! Please don't hesitate to ask for more help on the build and paint and I will try remember how I did it😁
@Sully’s Scale Models thank you so much for the reply it means alot..yea a few people have told me some of the panel lines are a bit shallow but that's no issue to put back in..and again thank you I'll keep you posted when I start it but I can't wait!
Aie sully,THAT is a HELL of a nice model you build there!!! Thumbs up 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Cheers dude
Beau travail du début à la fin !
Thanks!
Wow! Perfect job!! Congrats!
Thank you, just finished the series I've just got the kit. Some good inspiration and techniques to get me started.
Thanks mate
Great build, I'm looking forward to building my one once I find some space for it. Loved your series.
Thanks mate!! Glad you enjoyed it!
Stunning model. Just some info if someone is in the process of building one. The front oleo needs to be cut about 3mm; Tornados have a nose down stans when on the ground, and the kit’s landing gear is in “flight” mode, i.e., no weight on them.
Stunning
Thank you very much! 😊
really interesting and inspirational this approach to represent the "desert pink"!
Superb result 👍
I got the Tornado GR1 this Christmas 2022. I haven't done a model kit since I was a teenager, I turned 50 in August lol The scariest thing about putting this "Beast" together is the painting and colour scheme. I spent £70 buying the accessories today at HobbyCraft. It recommends buying the 10 colours on the box, which I have, then mixing them together. I know I need a few more colour pots to get by. I have two paint brushes, course and fine. I saw you were mostly painting with spray paint, Sully! Can I get away with this, with just a paint brush? I would like my model to look realistic, but I'm not too bothered about the weathering etc. Some basic tips would be really helpful, thank you, with getting back into it again. I'm not much of an artist, but I am patient in wanting something to be good, but I'm not sure I can follow your professional standard, Sully! Much respect and thanks for the guidance you've already given within your video tutorials. Graham.
You can but it's going to take a few thin coats to get a flat finish with a brush. It's quite a large model to hand paint.
Very nice
Sorry for the off topic - I know someone asked about it in one of previous parts, but I've lost it.
So again: where can I listen to more of that music? I've searched for an artist/band called "331", but I found nothing. :(
I'm not into Spotify or iTunes.
Thanks for an answer in advance.
And obviously - awesome work!
I'm getting my Tornado (exactly the same one) this Monday. :)
The music i have used for these older videos i got of itunes and were royalty free type songs though it turned out there not totally royalty free! Thats is if you want to use it in something that you will end up been payed from!
hi from Barcelona!! Amazing job, thanks!
Very bloody nice mate is that boarding ladder a after market item ?
Cheera dude! Yes it is and before you ask i cant remember whos it is but i think i got it from Hannets but im sure if you search it it should come up i think thats how i found it
Superb work, what make and colour panel liner did you use?
Thanks mate!! I used Tamiya accent panel liner dark brown. I personally find it a pretty good all rounder for any paint job! Give a good dirty grim look
@@SullysScaleModels Thanks mate will get some, did you use revell paints for the main body colour which is 3 paints mixed, I'm going to use vallejo air uk desert pink because I can't get on with revell aqua, it's so thick I can't use a dropper to measure like the tamiya paints I use.
@@stevejones6346 ye i had some revell paints that were given to me i did have to thin them very heavily
Very very nice. Could you please tell me what Squadron N "Nikki"was in?
Thank you! No 27 Squadron, she was in Bahrain
@@SullysScaleModels Thanks Sully.
@@recone829 no problem !!
Forgot to add, love the new titles.
Cheers mate glad you liked it all! And thanks the old one needed cutting down alot! I wanted to show off abit of work for people who may of not seen any of it bit it was way too long plus everything needed abit of stream lining and improvements to them
Your weathering is great :) .10/10
In knew Jim Low and Steve Ellis, they were in the land of milk and honey, Bahrain while I was in Darahan, Saudi. Great video, love the sound track!
it’s a great job, thanks for inspiration, hi from Italy!
Thanks for watching!
This is such a helpful and inspirational series...many thanks! I have the old revell/monogram 1:32 luftwaffe/marine kit. Would it be difficult to convert to Gr.1? FLIR pod and different ordinance? Thanks!!!
Thanks mate! Im not sure but i think if you can get the parts you need just make sure they will fit your kit manufacture, that way their scale and fit shouldn’t be a issue! There is a manufacture of resin upgrades called reskit they do loads of stuff like thats and for jets aircraft ! Give them ago
Thanks! I will check that out.
@@robball8681 no worries mate i do hope it help as i couldn’t be much help really as i would like but i hope you can pull it off!
That is one hell of a project mate the Tornado looks really realistic. I've just got back into modelling after a 20 year break but it'll be some time before I do anything on this scale
Keep them coming buddy
The Welsh Wanderer cheers mate! Glad you got back in to the hobby and i hope your enjoying the channel! Keep at it mate and working your way up
Outstanding paint job. Love it, but there does seem to be a gap under the front canopy screen...I am not tying to be critical but I have this kit but not attempted yet, and am wondering if this is another area to watch out for? Cheers and thanks for sharing your excellent build. 👍🏻
Peter Oxley yes lol it wasnt the best fit in the world and with having to do a commission in the middle and kind of wanted to get this done and out of the way
Finally a new part 😁👍
Great build as ever, mate but are you sure about the year? You said it's a kit from 1989 but given that GW1 didn't kick off until 1990, that's a helluva trick from Tamiya! ;-)
Probably not now you say that lol been Dyslexic i probably read it wrong lol glad you enjoyed thats the important bit😁
@@SullysScaleModels Absolutely. Even subscribed!
Amazing Tornado! I have the same kit. Do you thin the revell aqua paints with water or their own thinner for airbrushing? Thanks Josh.
I think you can get away with water i think i did try it but cant remember if it was alright! Id try a on a test peace bit i normally use Tamiya thinners they work with nearly anything
@@SullysScaleModels thanks for the advice. Ik will try the tamiya thinner. I had problems with tap water. I like revell aqua these adhere well to the model surface. Grtz Josh
@@jozuavanlangenhove6586 for me its Tamiya specially with airbrushing nice flat finish and smooth
Fab piece of work, but I was wondering about the air in take area, 27:14 you spent hour and hours and hours but looks like you've not painted any of the inside? You come across as meticulous in your craft, any reason for not touching this bit? Might be insider knowledge I don't know about.
Thanks mate! No they are painted i think ots the shadow thats cast make it look like there not
Stunning work on the Tonka mate and what is the model behind you?
Do you mean the tornado model? Its one of them desk type ones i got that was going cheep
Hey I'm going to build the same Kit, is there an Color Option instet of mixing the Revell Colors?
Hataka clams to do one its marked as HTK-A068 i did mix this by revels call out, well sort off i used what i had to hand that was close to theres and played around with the mix till i got what i wanted
what is the hole marking scribe tool please ?? love that. lovely model as well :) Just about to set building my own so watching for lots of tips and gained lots already thanks.
The scribing tool i use is this one-Plastic Cutter Scriber & Spare Blades Modelcraft PKN4150/S, really good scribe and cheap and again really good!! I hope there all my tips lol
@@SullysScaleModels Sorry I meant the tool you used to make the circles for wheel centres :D Thanks pal :)
@@PhantomMark do you mean for the tread? I used the same tool
@@SullysScaleModels lol nope, the compass like tool you created the centre wheel masks with :D
@@PhantomMark oh right sorry mate!! Ye it was a cheap compass cutter
This is a fantastic paint job and the model looks fantastic! One thing though, why don't you fill the gaps of the seamlines and sand it afterwards? It literally hurt me when I saw this outstanding paint job done on a model where you can clearly see where the intakes are glued to the fuselage or the gap/seam between front and main section.
I handt realised until i was taking the photos it was there by witch point i wasnt going to redo it id als had a commission i needed to get done, and its not the noticeable until
you get right up close to it
A spelling mistake on the intro, "modles" good job.
The perks of been dyslexic!! Not really the end of the world is is it!! The videos not about my spelling is it?! Are you one of these that pick out the stupid things rather that enjoying the video and saying something nice?
