Man saving on the ps1 memory card was always scary back in the days especially if you live in a town where power goes out randomly from time to time. You basically brick your card and lose everything when that happens.

I really wish I kept a lot of the old PlayStation magazines with the demo disc , as a kid growing up in the 90’s those magazines were the only way to keep up to date on the new exciting videos games & news . Once a month with a whole selection of games , even though water down some of em were really fun and was just good enough to play without even having the fun game . Some of em had multiple player and even though you can only do one stage and like a selection of cars / fighters or whatever , it was enough to satisfy an 6 year old kid

I actually didn’t know the upside down solution and the multi system link. Everything else I knew clear as day.
One thing I knew of was the plug n play: it hooked onto the back of the PlayStation. Unlike a GameShark, it allowed for both burned CDs of games and Japanese versions of games to be played. And also it WAS a GameShark, ready for cheats. Only thing that was required was the lid had to be open, but the lid button on the inside had to be depressed by a toothpick or so, so the console could recognize something was inside and the lens could start scanning the CD.

  • @Valdarious

Have to say I dont remember the PocketStation but I didn't live over there so there is that.
I can't believe you didn't mention the fact that only the Original PS1 could play any region discs you wanted without modding the console. I used to use a mechanical pencil erasure(the one with a pin in it) to set on top of the door button and then put an extra controller on the door the keep it "closed" even though it was open. You would load a music cd in the tray, hit stop, put in your non-region disc and hit exit, bam, game would load.
I remember having the Japanese version of all the Teken's before my friends were playing the NTSC versions.
