Looks like they have more than doubled their prices so they can claim "50% off" in the sale - who TF would pay £125 for a sky surfer?
True. Some crazy overpricing
I learned to fly on the Skysurfer x8. Can highly recommend as a trainer just put the RX in and no gyro and learn to fly 🎉
Brings back memories of your earlier videos, soaring up and down sand dunes on a beach with foam-board creations. The hawk (or crow) shadows here make for lively entertainment.
Ah happy days, the thrill of learning
Great video Andrew, hopefully catch you on the slope some time over next couple weeks
Is the Fluid close to a flight Alexis?
@@AndrewNewtonit sure is, the canopy is arriving with its maker early next week, then I'll be down your way for a test flight, maybe one evening after work even
Thanks! 👍💪✌
I have spend now 300€ in total over the past week.
Only some offers were really attractive and only in combination with a 6$ for 120$ deduction early in the morning - here 8 am.
First volantex plane has arrived from CZ within 2 days , but a lot of prices were only lowered for the US buyers especially in the plane section.
Thanks a lot.
Yes you have to be wary of the prices.
I bought 2 Skysurfer X8 from Banggood. Both of them had faulty motors sadly and Banggood has not yet sent a replacement motor. But the plane itself is great for the reduced price of 70$.
That's nothing. I bought two Zohd GT rebels PNP with full Zohd Autopilot. £80 each two years ago. Iv still got them in the box. Never flown
Yeah it's a bargain. Shame about the motor. I never had any issues with Banggood, and I ordered a TON from them. Strange you had such bad luck. I'd recommend the Skysurfer anytime. It's an AMAZING beginner's plane. Like a Bixler. Indestructible.
Thanks for the heads up
One of my best buys (albeit not from Bangcrunch) was an anemometer. I fly kites as well as RC planes, and it's REALLY nice to know exactly what the wind's doing, rather than just guesstimating or relying on vague local approximations from the Met Office.
Mine's one of the generic yellow and black units from China. (I actually bought 2, to compare results.) It takes a single CR2032 battery and only cost eight quid, but it gives consistent readings at ground level, spot-on results on the slope, and has even been hoisted to great altitude on a camera-equipped kite to explore the winds higher up. It's fascinating.
I think people would be surprised to know what a genuine '10mph' wind feels like. It's much, much stronger than you might imagine!
Mine chews through the battery even when it's off. Have to take it out when not in use.
Remember a few years ago when Banggood was the one and only place to get all the great planes and wings for really good prices? What ever happened to that.? I miss those times.
Banggood and HobbyKing used to be better
@@AndrewNewton Hobbyking was actually better, due to UK delivery within 2-3 days. But there were some politics involved due to dodging taxes i think. So they no longer have a UK wherehouse. And the shipping fees are are a joke. £50-70 for planes. And they all come from Hong Kong or China.
I feel the same way exactly.
A quick note to say the Sky Surfer X8 1480mm is listed for $125 vs. $167 shown in this video (US) for the next 4 days per BG. Also noticed something new called zohd Altus 980mm a twin with longer glider like wings.
Thanks for the heads up. Good value
My sky surfer flew great, right up until I overestimated my piloting skills. Two or three times of gravitational force overpowering lift made it into a questionable rtf (ready to fix). 😅
Ha, sounds like my original Bixler. But you do learn by crashing and fixing
@@AndrewNewton yes. although by that standard i should have been a pro 😆
Great video on "How to exercise your crow" mate! You've really become integrated into the SA community now. 😜😊
Haha, still a Cats man
This hot weather has been driving me nuts! I tried to take my plane out for a fly early Monday morning when it was only 32, but I got swamped by flies so I gave up 😂
Re the VTOL, have you thought about testing the VTOL version of the Heewing T1 Ranger?
VTOLs are not worth the extra hassle at the moment. Maybe with further refinement
sale seems to start on friday 18th and maybe the whatever coupons with lowered prices might make a bargain cause after a few years of not buying much i tend to wanna buy something new that flies but still no reflex to instantly purchase something . At the end they might have nice prices with paypal and there coupons but who will get that and how complicated will it be to get one of these really nice bargains ?
I will have a look but I guess it will end in a disappointment or buying something else out of frustration - like the Bamboo x1s or whatever it is called which ussualy was sold for 750€ and when they had a 640€ incl. 2 free filament I purchased one even having no clue at all if I will use it or not. But at that price I can get one, play around and test it and flip it after 6 months without a big loss.
Their sales can be very confusing.
What camera you using in the glider mate
Runcam Thumb. Quite a lot of fisheye distortion but it's very low fuss.
@@AndrewNewton cheers buddy hope your well
Never better thanks Nick.
The only problem I've had was forgeting to turn my my VPN off on the SB-wing for mavlink...
And it vtol's the t1 nicly. I've finally landed a plane without crashing or drowning it 🙄
👍🏻
Sloping is actually the best way to learn to fly. I taught a friend in less than 20 minutes on a slope and he was doing great in no time! So much more forgiving, plus the plane is rarely flying towards you, so its easier to learn orientation.
Totally agree!
Crispy dry grass Andrew, we're still grey skies, windy and freezing.....Speedy Bees new Mini F405 wing is a great micro FC...I just wish theyd squeezed in a 9v regulator for the HD camera....🤔😳🇬🇧
Yes, an odd omission
@@AndrewNewton I bought one anyway...It's nicely made and very small...🤔😏🇬🇧
Can't be used with hd cameras then?😮
@@rotormasher No, you can still use power from the main Lipo, it's present on the FC....A voltage stabilizer or regulator can hold a steady 9 volts though...🤔😏🇬🇧
@@EnglishTurbines thanks, didn't realise this. But of a shame
Even though the promotion hasn't started yet, the BG price today of AU$159.14 for the PNP version of the PhoenixS 1600, with free postage from the AU warehouse, seems very good.
Thanks for the alert that Bangers still does occasionally have items onshore for shipping Laurie! Not that us Old Farts are ever likely to be in the market again for a large model. We've still got some in boxes and 1 fellah's shed has 'em hanging from the rafters like spider web. Kmart foamies and little zippers are more on the menu along with blendered food these days! 🤤😮💨🙄
Sad but true @@theoztreecrasher2647
Thank you for this!
My pleasure!
