Amazing how far it goes on a hand toss (1:40). With a gentle high-start, could easily thermal from the pitch field on a nice day. Might even be able to slope soar a tree line. Nice views onboard, and of the sunburst. The sky was happy to see RESilience Glider take to the slope.
Andrew, I knew there was something else I liked about you other than being a primo rc builder and flyer, the look of pure bliss on your kitties face sez it all. Beautiful kitty!
My heart stopped twice during this video. First time I thought you were not far enough away from the fences and trees on the oval to launch it, as these planes will glide on and on and on. Second time was when you said the wind was curling around the Bluff, (typical of a SSE-SE wind). When you launched I could see the suppression of the plane, arrh. Top of the Bluff is the only Safe spot in these winds. Good recovery and wow what an excellent glider it is. You might be able to get a Tattu 450mah 2S in the nose, I use that in my Ballare and It takes away the "do i have enough battery" fear from the flights.
So fortunate to have that Beautiful Slope Soaring site. Can't live that dream living in the Nevada Desert. Nothing but Jagged Rock's and Cactus to land on.
As always, in awe of the skills, patience and sheer self-confidence of someone who has put so much into making something so elegant to nonchalantly sling it off into an area with pretty-well zero chance of retrieval when the cylinder eventually stops on the live round! 😉😊
@@AndrewNewton My "confidence" was shattered when a rogue gust on a stormy afternoon stuffed my little Flying Fish twin into a gum tree! You don't get many gusts along the Tourist Coast there? 🤔😈
That was an impressive performance for a first flight. Congrats! RES gliders are very pitch sensitive, but need a big rudder with a lot of deflection to get that long wing rotating in yaw. Definitely have to anticipate!
A little tape on each panel (Left there) will provide a good backing for some light tape to join/hold the panels together. Just need to remove carefully.
@allenmoore9848 You summed it all up for me! What a beautiful flight and glider. Great Andrew would expect nothing less from you. Seriously need one of these! Will you try hi-start?
I told you weight would be no problem 🙂 - it'll get more sensitive and responsive when you take the excess nose weight off it and then it'll turn on a wingtip. Next you need a bungee for the flat calm days 👍
Great stuff Andrew, and love the build series. Do you think there's take off and landing room at that location for my 2m wingspan Carbon Z Cub? Looks like an awesome place to fly... I'm sure there are loads of similar spots along that coastline too.
If you get it in some thermal lift, you're going to need those spoilers Andrew. Can't you install a couple of 18650s..?....Wheres your vbatt telemetry on ELRS?....🤔😳🇬🇧
Hey Andrew, yeah the other youtube Vids I have see for this model say that the spoilers can be a little 'drastic'.... Great Job on a great model. I am looking about on the googly maps to see where you are flying the model.... where are you flying it and in what wind and direction & speed??? ( live in S/E melbourne ad am aloways looking for more sites to fly.....) Ozjohnno

I heard your voice in my head telling me about the SE that seems OK but isn't really there. Lucky landing although I did flatten the nose by a few mm.
Flies great. That glider on an inland slope in light conditions with thermals popping off the hill would be so much fun.
Ah man, that bird is just beautiful!!! 😍 She didn't wanna come down!
And the kitty is gorgeous too! ❤
Great to see thanks. The flat field performance is amazing, to bring back javelin HLG. Laurie. NZ. 😊
That’s a beautiful purple condor 👍
Congrats on the maiden. Very nice.
I love the see thru purple and that skeletal look you did a nice job Andrew

With a beautiful bird, beautiful location, diverse cloud formations, this is what slope flying is all about. Kudos! - Jim
RC model reviews did a video on setting up your radio to have ELRS call out the batt voltage periodically. Gorgeous airplane
Very nice, what an absolute floater
It is Wundervoll! Macht grosse Strecke da sehr leicht!Hertzliche Grüsse von Bruno in Switzerland!!
Thanks Bruno

Cricket oval glide tests gave me confidence

I think my heart stopped beating, watching your first fight what a beautiful glider
Beautiful plane and flight 😊
Andrew, you’re killin me. Love these vids.
Lovely glider, it flies so well! Gotta fix that starboard spoiler though.
Awesome maiden.. just floats.. perfect !!
Congratulation for this beautiful glider and Maiden.
And thanks for all the videos.
They helped me a lot,when a was a totally beginner. 👍👍👍🙂
Great to hear thanks
Lovely plane. Due reward for your effort in building it 👌
You have done a fantastic job building it. You can also see how it flies. Nice job 👏👏😍😍🤩🤩
A glorious flyer! Just floats. Great job, Andrew.
Excellent flight. 😊
3 great catches Andrew, well done and love the Brazil t-shirt. :)
Well spotted
Great catch! Slope soaring is so cool!
Beautiful! It just wants to fly!!
Cracking plane. A keeper for sure.
I know a certain someone that's going to be hiding a purchase from another certain someone within the next week. Awesome!
Just stunning😀

Great stuff!
Purring like a Kitten.
Unreal Andrew.
Amazing footage, just beautiful!
Impressive!
Cool cat!
Plane is also nice - it stays in the air as if by magic.
Wow.. amazing
Beautiful and relaxing.. thank you !!
Thanks it is an elegant bird

That's todays job
magical
Oh man. So nice

What an exciting glider. Well done indeed mate👏👏👏👏
Yes it's begging to be bungy launched, but calm days are rare
You are certainly right… almost every day this year at your old flying spots Andrew!
Well done lad!
Thankyou Sir
What a beautiful glider. Thanks 👍💪✌
Prrrr...
Nice flyer. Excellent clear onboard footage. Was that a runcam HD taped or velcroed on ?
Just electrical tape
Fabulous!

It looks/flies nice, but it really should have a slightly wider fuselage to accommodate a larger battery imho.
There are wider fuselage versions available, this is the super slim competition version.
Great stuff Andrew, and love the build series.

Beach takeoff maybe. The slopes are very rugged
She's a floater
She is a beauty! how was it when you launched from the slope for the first time? where you scared to crash it?
Yes I was a bit concerned. Mainly about the off wind angle
If you get it in some thermal lift, you're going to need those spoilers Andrew. Can't you install a couple of 18650s..?....Wheres your vbatt telemetry on ELRS?....🤔😳🇬🇧
Only 12mm opening and maybe 70mm length of battery space. Even one 18650 has no chance. I have a 4 x AAA which may squeeze in with some balsa carving.
@@AndrewNewton Oh wow, that's tight....🤔😳😳😏🇬🇧
What camera was used for the aerial shots? Very nice!
Runcam 2 4K
Thank You! I have the same.@@AndrewNewton

Thanks. This is actually designed for winch launch and there is a motor version available. Check their website.

I have not used it as a thermal glider, only for slope soaring.
Ok, merci
A great series! Are you now going to fpv this? I wonder how well it would slope with inav?
No, some planes just need to be flown without FPV
Seeing Andrew check his battery pack's remaining capacity reminded me of an EV [electric vehicle] driver experiencing a touch of range anxiety...🤭
very nice indeed, sadly for me rc flying is all but over due to CAA bringing in even more rules and regs
Damn the CAA!
the glide slope on that thing is near infinite. good payoff for the fiddly build it looks like
Andrew get your self check for heart condition now, as a pilot friend check with a cardiologist.
Wise words thanks, but my heart is monitored more than most. It's working well and allows me to do 5 and 10k runs weekly now.

SSE 5 to 10kn. Top secret location in South Aus.
Wow.... What a hand thrown hands off glide slope.... Couldn't you have put Battery Telemetry on it...
Yes the Rx has Batt sensing, just have to squeeze the cable in.
