Grizzly bears are still protected under the Endangered Species Act. The Wyoming Game and Fish captures and tags grizzlies in the Yellowstone Ecosystem making rounds about every 5 years into my area. Sometimes they are collared; sometimes just ear tagged and I suppose they are using for counts and to see if they recapture later. This mom was captured and eartagged but that doesn't mean she got into trouble (eating livestock for instance). Grizzlies who eat livestock (unprotected chickens etc or get into feed or unprotected garbage) are relocated and given usually 1 more chance before they are killed. It's a terrible system that should penalize the person who didn't protect their foods or use non-lethal methods to protect their cows who graze on public lands. See my website for more info
