- Carved in 1513 for the never completed tomb of Pope Julius II, Michelangelo’s “Moses” is one of the artist’s most sensational sculptures. The marble statue is characterized by Michelangelo’s typical dramatic musculature and torsion. But the most famous detail of the sculpture is the horns protruding from Moses’ head!

San Pietro in Vincoli is the reason I love Roma. We stayed in Monti, just around the corner, and one day on my morning walk I wandered into that church, not even realizing there was a Michelangelo sculpture there. When I visited, there may have been two or three other people in the church. I've gone back since then with my wife, again stayed in Monti, and again went to visit Moses. You never know what you're going to run into in Roma.
