- The 1991 German/Czechoslovakian depiction of the famous fairy tale 'The Frog Prince', by the Brothers Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm.
This version is spoken in German, and comes with English, Dutch and German subtitles.
PLOT:
When a young princess, instead of being fully dedicated to her love, persists in running around like a tomboy and roaming the forests with her gang, and a young prince refuses to give up all his vices and mischief, an aquaphobic fairy takes their fate into her hands.
The princess then falls in love with the prince, who declares eternal fidelity to her. When he however breaks this promise, the fairy turns him into a frog. With which the loyalty of the princess is being tested as well...

Oh my gosh I love how they did the frog, it brought me so much joy to watch him hop about and imagine the actor getting into the suit. Wonderful!

wat geweldig dat deze film eindelijk online te vinden is! Als kind had ik hem gezien op tv en opgenomen op vhs, sinds onze vhs speler het heeft begeven had ik de film niet meer gezien, een tijd geleden heb ik hem opgezocht maar kon ik hem helaas nergens vinden, en vandaag, zomaar in zijn geheel hier online!!! heel erg bedankt voor het plaatsen van de film, echt heel erg fijn!!! thank you verry much!!!

vor vielen jahren hatte ich den film mal gesehen und war restlos begeistert. dann geriet er lange in vergessenheit, jetzt recherchiere ich gerade etwas und finde doch tatsächlich diesen film wieder! ich glaubs nicht :) großartig! ich dachte, den seh ich nie wieder. tausend dank fürs reinstellen, da werden kindheitserinnerungen wach.

@Damae85 Thanks for your response. Indeed, unfortunately I have never come across the Czech spoken version of this movie. For instance: Linda Rybová has such a different voice from this German lady/girl. It would be nice to hear her own voice.

I don't know about Czech subs, but I will try to find them. As for the voices, the male actors were the worse for me - especially Michal Dlouhý has really beautiful voice in reality, so smooth... And Jiří Sovák (the dance master) is sooooo far far away from his own voice... I will have to find a German version of other Czech-German fairy tales. :-) But really - German or not German - thank you very much!
@Richard71623 Das ist die originale Filmmusik von Zdeněk Merta (man sieht ihn auch als Pianist in dem Film). Ich glaube leider doch nicht daß es wirklich ein 'Soundtrack' gibt.

I remember watching an old movie or show in mid to late 2000s, about the frog prince but I can't remember what's the movie called. Not sure if this is the one. The one I watched has the princess with long blonde hair, in a gown, she was in a garden by a well or something, and holding a frog in her hands, then she kisses the frog.

this is really strange for me, to see all those Czech actors speaking German (vith different voices) and having to understand them from English subtitles... Sadly, this movie is almost inaccessible in Czech... But thank you very much for sharing anyway! And even better with subs :-)

Ist schon lange her, dass ich diese Version gesehen hab. Im Nachhinein finde ich das schrecklich: taffe Prinzessin wird aus Liebe zur Heulsuse. Schade. :-/
Ich habe auch was für emanzipierte, taffe Frauen übrig. Aber sie wollte nur aus einem Grund nicht heiraten, weil man es ihr befohlen hat. In dem Moment wo sie sich verliebt hat war das mit dem Thema Ehe kein Problem mehr! Wieso hat sie das aus deiner Sicht aufgegeben? Warum muss sich Emanzipation und Liebe immer gegenseitig aufheben? Ist doch Quatsch! Ich selber kann weder ohne das eine, noch das andere, mal nebenbei bemerkt. Sie hat plötzlich angefangen an etwas zu glauben und sich diese Liebe auch überhaupt nicht ausreden lassen. Wieso also Heulsuse? Sie hat sich nicht reinreden lassen obwohl (wie das in Märchen nun mal so ist^^) das Schicksal ihrer Familie und ihres ganzen Volkes auf dem Spiel stand. Um ehrlich zu sein ab dem Punkt wo der Prinz verschwunden ist und sie einen Bewerber nach dem anderen hat abtreten lassen, ist sie mir als selbstbestimmte erst richtig sympathisch geworden, vorher war sie einfach nur ein rebellisches Kind! Aber ich liebe diese Inszenierung generell, großartig gemacht dramaturgisch, technisch, und darstellerisch, aus meiner Sicht total sehenswert!

Sie hat sich, nachdem sie sich verliebt hat, zu sehr von taff zu Heulsuse zu ändert. Das ist mir vorher nie aufgefallen, darum hab ich das kommentiert. :-)

Yeah. But I prefer subtitles since I more often couldn't read the accent of the English dubber. At least , in this medium, we foreigner somehow understand unlike the others that totally none.
