Best video on how to backup Quickbooks online. My teacher couldn't answer this question when I asked this question in class and she is teaching the subject. LOL, whenever she speaks about Quickbooks online. Keep up the great work.
I'm setting up a nonprofit on a new Techsoup QBO account, and they have years of historical data on a QBO account we are shutting down. We don't want to import the data the new account, how can we acquire a desktop version to store the historical data? Is it still possible to do this? And would they have to pay a desktop subscription to keep the data and ability to access it?
Hello Hector, I like your videos, but I have questions. In my opinion, it is not really a backup. In my point of view, backup is when you save all your accounting system in a file and if your system is crushed down you can just upload it as it was at that point in time. In your video, I see a few problems. First of all, QB online is not able yet to import bills and payments from an Excel file. Second, even if you would be able to import bills and payments, as I understand they won't be connected with each other. So you would have to connect each payment to each bill or invoice. Correct me f I am wrong.
Back up done... Any videos on how to do mass editing to products and services? I have 6,000 items to edit and have a feeling that it will require an export and reimporting the items but no clear direction on how to do this.
Hello, I have a client who has QBO and QBD. They had to change to QBD due to another program that they use for their business. They never exported QBO. Once I do the Export is that going to erase all the work they have on QBD?
Hi Hector, I want to thank you so much for all of your videos. As a CPA w many years experience of the desktop product and not nearly as much time with QBO, they help me a lot. When you’re working with a new client in QBO that needs a lot of cleanup work, do you ever back up the data prior to doing a lot of that cleanup, in case it blows up on you? I always used to backup the desktop files before doing a lot of cleanup. Never needed the backup but it made me more confident in accepting that work. If you do or would ever backup prior to cleanup in QBO, which method would you use, since any restore would be right back into QBO itself? Thanks in advance for any guidance. 🙏🏻😀
Hi, 1. if we have to migrate to qb advanced from qb online and purpose is to have new and uniform gl codes from next FY i.e 24-25 across different locations , can you advice if a backup of data is required 2. Reason is whether giving new gl codes/ uniform gl description will alter earlier yr gl descriptions i.e prior to FY 24-25
Hi Hector. Thank you for this informative video. However, I am moving from one quickbooks online data file from my accountant to a new online account I got through TechSoup (it's a non-profit). I don't have an export option in the settings, so I probably have to export the data from every list. My question is, what files should I export to excel in order to be able to re-create the data in my new company online QBO subscription? Is there a correct procedure for importing the files, or is there an easier way to do this without exporting and importing? I'd appreciate your help very much!
Hi Hector, thanks for this wonderful video. After doing a restore via quickbooks advanced or rewind, how do I verify that it correctly restored the file and did not mess up anything?
they removed the online to desktop option; i dont see it anymore. few months ago I called intuit about moving my data to desktop and they told me to export in excel and import the excel in QB. wow !
Hello Victor, Thank you so much for explaining everything in detail. I am trying to convert my client data from QB online plus to QB Desktop to fix the errors and mistake done by previous bookkeeper so I can do not mess with original data in QB online. But when I log in by using my own user id and pw to excess the client file shared with me, I can not able to see the export option on gear menu. I tried to manually type the url exportdataqbotoqbdt to go on export overview page but I can only see the option and message that says that "I can export my data in excel format". I really appreciate if you help to find out what I am doing wrong. Thank you,
I currently use online Essentials, I need to upgrade to Plus but do not want to lose my discount I have been paying for essentials. Is there a way to upgrade from Essentials to Plus and still get a discount?

Best video on how to backup QB online!! Most others only cover using other online apps.
:)
Question: If QuickBooks Online is converted to use in QuickBooks Desktop would the scanned receipts be also available in QB Desktop.

You are 100% right.
But this video was not meant to answer any of these issues... it covered others
This is great. Glad you stayed up past 1:00 AM to do it! question is, how do you restore from the Excel backup??
Cant “restore” from excel
Hello Hector,
How can we transfer data for 2nd option, If we are working through the right networks?
Thanks.
This is only for Windows right? Mac desctop can't use this conversion correct?

I like using a 3rd Party app like Transaction Pro Importer: ua-cam.com/video/P1Rq5Y1Ofm4/v-deo.html

Yes… there is not way to “merge” the data
Do you have any work around APP other than REWIND....Reason being REWIND seems does not work for countries outside USA

You can create a new account if you want a clean GL. You need to do a manual backup
9.15.20 Hector, is IE 11 the only browser one can use for the backup or can Edge or Chrome work? Thanks for the video.
CHUCK TROTTER nope... IE11

Moving data accross QBO files is vert complicated. There are some apps that claim to do that, but never seen a good implementation of it
Question: When starting a new QBO using the data from the Old QBO. Is it best to backup data from the Old QBO into excel?
Is it selective data? Or the whole thing?
I want to do the whole thing. The client's books are very, very messy including prior years.
@@daniajohnson5017 yes just export the whole thing.. I assume you a are starting over
@@HectorGarciaCPA Yes, I am starting over. Thanks Hector for replying!

You would need to have pulled the PL and Balance Sheet before and after to see if you got the desired change
Hi Hector, what If I don't have the button export data?
Contact support, see what is going on… keep in mind this is only a US-based feature
Will the second option work with UK version of Quickbooks Pro 2019?
i dont think so
they removed the online to desktop option; i dont see it anymore. few months ago I called intuit about moving my data to desktop and they told me to export in excel and import the excel in QB. wow !
I agree, it's immensely frustrating, especially if a company is closing and needs a final backup copy for at least seven years in case of IRS audit.
Now that IE 11 support had ended, will it work with Edge?
Yes it should
Hi Hector- how do I download the receipts I uploaded over the years?
In the Attachment menu (under Gear Menu)
I am unable to find Export option on my tools option. Can someone help me how I can see export option ?
Thank you so much as always. I learn so much from you. Kind Regards, Teresa
you welcome
Thank You! Great Help

I don’t know.. if you are outside of USA, i think it doesn’t work.
@@HectorGarciaCPA yes, I am in Canada
@@HectorGarciaCPA Is not it possible in Canada?

Email me your company ID number hector@garciacpa.com
@@HectorGarciaCPA Just sent my information via email
QBO allows me to sign in while using in internet explorer, but then nothing populates after I log in.
Try Google Chrome
Very helpful video.
I appreciate!
The more I learn about quickbooks online the more I realize it’s not useful .. convenient but it sucks.
Yeah how about local backup....wtf. This company is ridiculous. Thanks for all the help.
There is another video that explains the local backup process
Excellent, Excellent video on how to backup Quickbooks Online
