You're a LIFE SAVER! I've been shuffled back and forth between QB online and Desktop help for two weeks trying to get a backup. First they tell me since I'm not on "Advanced" I need to upgrade my subscription another $950 to get a "back up" button. I was getting an error after clicking "Import data" that said "We're unable to create a new company file." @HectorGarcia - excellent video Hector. I have a sister with a lawn service business whom I was looking over the financials for. Her P&L statement shows COGS for lawn materials and supplies like trees, shrubbery, hay, etc, however, there's no inventory on the balance sheet. We want to do a conversion from QBO to QBD, but I am a little concerned she will run into similar issues with things not balancing because COGS has no related inventory account. First, is that correct for a lawn service business, second, should we be concerned about the reporting reflecting no inventory on the books and interfering with cogs account during conversion?
Its probably correct as small businesses generally don’t track inventory as they are not obligated to do so for tax until they meet the $25mm annual sales threshold. She could enable inventory if she wants, but will probably be too much work to manage
Thank you for this video. I have a question how I can share the company QB Desktop file to my client after I've done the migration. Im considering converting to QB online. I have been playing around with the sample online company QB Online Plus. I cant see spending the extra $$$ on advanced for the small differences that I can take advantage of. The few things that are different are: On desktop Vendors: receiving items before getting the invoice. Nothing in QBO is customizable, that really sucks! And if you link a bank account, you're always going to some doubles of transactions, that also sucks because you then have to deal with deleting the extra ones. And the reports- not even close to the desktop version!! And just as you will lose data in migrating back to desktop, your data gets screwed up when migrating to QBO. Food for thought

I click on Get Started and it does nothing.
Sometimes it glitches out. What did Intuit support say?
Hello, the link does not work anymore. Any other way to export all data? We have had a nightmare with QB online reconciliation and have decided to go back to desktop after 5 months of trying it out.
Its the only way
How do I find the migration tool?
Never mind. It was an issue with my computer that my son resolved.
Great
When I enter this URL I don't get the same screen it just says "You can also export reports to Excel to get data out of QuickBooks Online Essentials" Any idea why it would be different?
Hum… no clue.. are you logged in as admin?
@@HectorGarciaCPA I am running into this same problem. Yes, I am signed in as the only user "primary admin". I am using Quickbooks online plus.
I'm also getting that screen, any fix?
Thank you!! Super bien explicado!!!
:)
Every time I do this, it says “unknown error” and doesn’t have any certificates to accept. Then when it opens in QB, nothing transfers over
You need to contact support
@@HectorGarciaCPA Support doesn't help.. I just spent $1,450 on Desktop and they said I could call technical support for migration from QBO to QBDT and when I called they said sorry we don't help transfer data from Online to Desktop. Absolute BS!!!
Help!!! My export overview is empty......
Contact support
the url is not working for me what else shall I use
Only works in US
It doesn't work anymore. Nothing comes up when the link is pasted.
You need to be logged in first and on a desktop browser .. otherwise it wont work
I keep getting 1009 Internal Error Unknown Exception after I complete the certificate. It does not actually download any data.
You need to contact intuit
Try to make sure you open both the migration tool and quickbooks desktop as administrator (right click the apps and click run as administrator). Also, just keep trying to open them multiple times, it is random sometimes where it will give you an error but randomly get through on like the 3rd of 4th try.
For some reason this didn't work for me in 2022, or even this year, it always downloads a blank file 0 bytes
Yeah. Sometimes is problematic. And Unfortunately getting support from Intuit in this area is really hard
The link is not working. QB on-line page not found. Tried in Chrome and Edge. Does anyone have an update on the URL?
Its USA only.. are you outside US?
Hi Hector, thanks for reply. No, I am in US and not behind a VPN.
Hector, I tried again and it worked this time. I'm so sorry to trouble you. Maybe I had to close my browser to clear the cache. Anyway, I downloaded the tool and I'm going to review your video again. Thank you very much!!
@@slingermusic2983 just rested on my side, and the "Export Overview" page shows just done. same URL: app.qbo.intuit.com/app/exportqbodatatoqbdt
When I enter this URL I don't get the same screen it just says " 404 page not found
You need to be logged into QBO first
@@HectorGarciaCPA Yes I logged in first before inputting the link
@@rayfash337 you in the US?
@@HectorGarciaCPA Nigeria
@@rayfash337 my videos are meant for US only... I do not know how things work outside of US
this isnt working for me, im in canada
My videos are USA focused
I am getting the import, but every time it stops at 86% and gives me an error "Internal error: Unknown exception". Has anyone had this? I can not get past this point.
This happens… there is no known solution. You need to contact support and cross your fingers they can help
👍👍👍
Oh I got really excited until I realized the link no longer works. For 2023
It works
I HATE QBO! I only used it for 3 months. It is awful. I'm trying to get my files from online and load them back into desktop
Many people coming from Desktop dislike QBO; it happens :(
can you help me with moving QuickBooks online to a new QuickBooks online account
That’s not easy to do
