That poor widow touched the heart of our Lord, as she does mine, each and every time I read that passage of scripture. Your piece on tithing, is spot on. May God bless you, and keep you.
Since I came to the Charismatic Renewal at 22 years old, I tithe. I also support 2 charities consistently - in good or bad times. Now I am 50. I am really in a bad situation now because of a bad divorce, I indirectly incurred debts that I could not imagine I will ever have in this lifetime. I decided to consistently give --- even if our CHURCH IS RICH, AS I MIGRATED TO A RICH COUNTRY, from my "treasures". I know that if I start being greedy about my money, it will not help me anyway. I chose to remain faithful. I know that I will be able to pay these debts even if I am alone. I will. The Lord is faithful to fulfill all his promises.
I've tithed for many years but this video still spoke to me. I need to trust the Lord to provide for me. All money and all other things I have are the Lord's.
Thank you for this Jackie! For myself, the story in the bible of the woman giving everything she had in the church poor box is always at the back of my mind whenever I am in a church! Our catholic church needs to be built up as we are always there to help in missionary work. I offer it up at the Offertory for Jesus who helps me always!
By the way, when I went to Rome and Vatican City, I saw some Catholic Orders, nuns and priests, giving feeding programs to the people. There are many "eating halls" one can go to, they are unadvertise. The people who can "afford" to pay can also get in and eat and their donations can go feed more people. In England, there are Franciscans who provides sleeping bags and dinner for homeless people free. In Scotland, they also give food and even hair cuts to the homeless. Maybe, there are bad eggs in the Catholic Church but there are people who really touched my heart to give more. They do not advertise. They just rely on the food donations from groceries and local farmers. Everytime I see these people of God being selfless, I am motivated to give more. So touching.
@Matt Blaise I travel with coins in my pocket when I go there. I live in Switzerland. We seldom have homeless people except people from the Balkan regions "owned" by human traffickers. There are homeless near Picadilly, Victoria Station, etc. Have you seen their make shift tents and sleeping bags near Carnaby? In Switzerland, there are hidden poverty too. We just do not show it.
@Matt Blaise sounds like a person who is being trafficked maybe? People who are trafficked are forced to beg on the street then get into the car at the end of the day Is there a possibility this could have been the case?
@Matt Blaise well, it does not matter. I am not enabling the scammers but how will I know the "real" ones. My principle is - if I feel a tug in my heart to give, I give. If they are scamming me, it is not my sin anymore. When I give it came from the heart and I am just thankful for God's blessings on our lives. I really had a hard life here.
@@chrismckay7795 I have seen that with my eyes in Berlin. People begged because a "group" owns them. Then later, I see them in their "van" at around 8 pm. One time, I was in Rome in a Panini Shop. They have the best sandwich shops in Italy. Fresh hams, ciabatta. A woman with a child came up to asking for coins -- I thought. But she actually asked for my sandwich. My sandwich which really big costs €4.00. There are many migrants without papers in countries like France, Germany, Italy, Austria and here. They cannot find jobs. They are not given welfare help. So, they beg. But there are really people who beg just because or out of fear. Most of them are called or termed with words like -- financial refugees so they cannot get refugee status. I do not condone them but if God tells me to help, I do my best.
This past Sunday at our parish as everyone was leaving from mass there was a family of five with the father holding a sign saying they had no money for rent or food. It was hard to see that kind of poverty in our city, however, it encouraged many of us leaving the parking lot to give to the family. Hopefully it will inspire those in our parish to give back generously to the parish and community.

I never know if I should give 10%. Tithe, "according to your means," has already been a thorn in my side. I'm guessing not, but that doesn't mean I don't want to nor does it mean that I feel I should. My car is braking down (repairs are slightly less then a new used car), I can BARELY afford an apartment (renting a cheep room from a strange couple), student loans abound (like everyone else), I don't feel this is unique. I want to give more. I don't give 10% now but still more then when I had a higher wage. Hmmmm.... Yeah, it's always up in the air, always a confusing struggle, ....always a pain.

I was struck by Jackie’s comment that she fell in love with the Church early on in her life. What must that be like, I wonder? The Church in the abstract, especially as a teaching entity of doctrine, that Church has been nothing but a thorn in my side for my entire adult life. However, this is balanced by the truth that the every day reality of the Church, its Mass, it’s sacraments, particularly at my principle parish, that Church has been a source of stability in my life during periods of crippling pain. For better or for worse, this is a spiritual home. I seriously doubt there can be any other. Follow my lead: Critical of the Church? No great love for it? Think of the smaller picture. Give to the Church to sustain it, so that you might be sustained by it in turn.
Since my posts can be beyond the pale, I think I should add for any who are aghast, that I love my Catholic Faith, defined as trust in Jesus, and in His actions and promises. But, really, I am loyal to it beyond love.
Tithe is 10% and it goes entirely to the storehouse. Anything above the tithe is an offering, thats for missions, sacrificial giving, special funds, charitable contributions, etc. The tithe protects the 90%. With good stewardship the 90% will always be more than enough if the tenth is given with a full heart and good will
Giving and gratefulles can't be separet it because if we up knowledge by Feith that what we have is been given to us so we should be able to share it Amen
An assembly of believers who meet together for worship and teaching etc... in my area, the only place I find this is in an actual church building. There arent many believers around me (yet) 😊...
i`m in a country, where i am forced to give to the curch. 1% of my yearly net income, set by state. but thats ok. the only way to avoid that is officially becoming an atheist, but i think, the service of the church is worth that 1%.
I will not give a cent to the dioceses until the bishops get their act together. They spend more time talking about the environment and immigration than saving souls. You can give that 10% to a specific Catholic group which is orthodox like the FSSP, ICKSP, or a Catholic charity/pro-life group.
Make them put their acts together. I think it's high time that lay people get up and and make these clergymen work for the faith rather than the world. This will surely bring about a spiritual renewal in our world.
@@darryndsouza7896 the Church is gone, brother. Now it's just a club for homosexuals, pedophiles, and lazy, indifferent functional atheists who can't get a job anywhere else. There is no "making them get their acts together" when the act was permanently burned down in Vatican II.
@@aedan3760 No problem brother. We start now! we start here! If God is with us who can be against us! If it is as you say then it's time we drive them out because they are not the church but we are the church.
The example of the widow is actually Jesus scolding the religious leaders of the day. They had robbed even widows to the point that they had nothing. When she gave her tiny pittance Jesus was saying, “see? See what you have done? It’s your fault she has so little”. People misuse that story all the time.
Call it crazy but Jesus’s words aren’t limited to one simple meaning. While the story of the widow illustrates the corruption of the jewish religous leaders, it *also* highlights how true, genuine giving of the heart is worth much more in the eyes of God.
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness and self-control" Galatians 5:22 Not sure that generosity is mentioned as being a fruit of the Spirit.
It’s called an offering, given with the heart, tithing was an obligatory act in the Old Testament that had to be done a certain way, with certain tribes in a certain place that wasn’t money. Abraham gave the spoils from the war. Tithing was never money, they had money called shackles in the Old Testament Let us not muddle the two, it creates confusion which is a weapon from satan whose a liar. .
As she said in the video, they split their donations between the Church and other charities. This is also what our pastor encourages...part to the church and part to other charities supporting the needy in our world. My family has found that the more we give, the more God entrusts to us...it has been crazy. And we always have to remember that it is time, talent, and treasure...not just treasure.
I dont have a problem with giving offerings to churches but some of us are holy afraid to give a money-tithe because the bible does not say that a tithe is money it honestly says that it is holy food unto the LORD..... never holy money!!
I wish christian kingdoms back with charity schools, hospitals controled by saint people of Church instead of overwhelming state. 10% selftax for Church would be then no problem for almost everyone.
Hi, but beyond being generous or not I would like to know if you register as a Parishioner in the Roman Catholic Church are you committing to tithe?. I already donate money for a cause of my choice, but I would like to know my obligations as Parishioner before I commit to that… Thanks 🙏🏼
You say "I think it's a control thing." And, sure. It's also an "I don't want my money to be accidentally wasted on lawyer fees and multimillion dollar payouts if a priest abused someone" thing. I don't know what my money will ultimately be used for if I put it in the basket in the Church. I do, however, know what my money's used for if I turn it into food that I give DIRECTLY to a homeless person, or donate to a specific ministry that's out there teaching the ignorant or feeding the hungry. As a recent convert, I don't think I could get comfortable putting my money in the basket as a mindless RULE (just to check a box), as opposed to using my money to directly help people in tangible ways without risking it being sidetracked by someone else's hideous abuse. At least not unless some kind of MASSIVE transparency (and policy) is set up to keep that money safe for its intended use (e.g. providing BASIC shelter and food for a priest (that's what my job pays for, for me), and then going to ministries (evangelism, feeding the hungry, even beautifying the Church). And I don't know that any such policy exists or could exist, if the law could just come in and say "a Church clergyperson abused someone (and scandalized his flock in the meantime), therefore ALL funds (from his flock! and even those funds earmarked for feeding the poor!) must now be redirected into legal defence for an abuse case, and then multimillion dollar payouts to victims." Obviously, abuse victims have suffered something horrible (and NO amount of money will ever change or repay that). And at the same time, it does seem like even though NO amount of money will fix the situation, ALL the money is drained out of the Churchgoers' pockets for something they didn't do, when abuse happens. And why would I just throw my money into a pile that occasionally catches fire like that? And sure, I think I should give to these other more direct ministries with more regularity than I do. I'm shoddy in this area, you're 100% right that it's ALSO a control thing and a personal failing of mine. But that doesn't mean that the other thing doesn't exist.
Tithing to the temple is broken. A tithe after the Order of Melchizedek is to the priests, not the temple. This is why your life doesn’t change for the better after you tithe to a church. Test: find a conference going on somewhere with an *actually* anointed person of God, in which you can give directly to the person speaking as an act of saying “I want what God has given this person to be operating in my life.” And then give to that person directly with that intention and purpose in your heart. Then, see what begins happening in your personal relationship with God. The ways of God bear fruit, man’s presumptuous rituals bear thorns. Love and peace! 🙏🔥💗
I’ve never seen my family live a true Catholic/ disciple way. Never read a Bible mostly attended traditional religious services, coins and dollars that you had in your wallet or not. When kids celebrate their baptism there would be beer at parties, the godparents were not even married! ( is that still a requirement? ) idk
I've watched a number of the Jackie & Bobbie messages. Some are pretty good and then there are others. Regardless, I want to know what qualifications these two have? Sure, anybody can create a youtube channel and post videos ... but these guys are on Ascension Presents. So they must have some expertise. Can somebody tell me their background and their qualifications? I also looked on their website and, evidently, they're professional Catholic speakers (again, which is fine) ... but their site didn't say anything about their education or practical training (yes, Bobbie had been in the seminary ... but I'm not sure that's sufficient). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
@@andrewdrew677 Um ... not really. First of all, protestants believe they are being led by the spirit but we believe that they are definitely wrong on some issues. So that isn't a particularly good litmus test. Moreover, they get on here and talk about what kids should or shouldn't do in regards to dating. Well, that's a parent's job, not theirs. But if they're going to provide advice (and talk about it like they have the full weight of the Church behind them), then I would expect them to have some formal training. So my question stands.
Everything should go down to the reason behind giving. We have a mandate to help expand God's kingdom and to do so we can minister with our finances to aid in having church services and help reach the unreached. So that is the basic understanding on why we should give. How much to give is up to each and every individual depending on their circumstances. Under the Law of Christ we are never meant to tithe. The widow the Bible could not tithe considering they were not allowed to possess land or livestock, but used that was given to her as part of the tithe which under the Law was instructed as offering. It's the heart attitude that pleased Christ, but she didn't tithe as she couldn't due to reasons I stated already. My encourage is give what you are capable to, if it means foregoing some luxuries do so. If it's 2%,5%, 10%, e.t.c. it's up to you considering your circumstances. So please let's not use our personal circumstances to create doctrines that do not exists. I know people who cannot afford 10% because of circumstances and it's not good to guilt trip them.
I hate to bring this up, but I see the Church spending hundreds of millions of dollars on settlements around the scandals. I know of a particular situation in which a pastor gave money from the parish to a sex partner. I'd be interested in getting your thoughts, but I don't really feel comfortable giving to the Church with the money being used in those ways.
In Germany, you are forced to tithe. The government takes the money based on your income even if you are retied. It's called a Church tax but it you are not religious, It's a social tax, which goes to other charities. I don"t agree with that. What if you're poor? I know a woman who found herself unable to feed her family and yet they still took her money and she gor no help from Church or state.
Stop blowing your trumpet! Your message is very harmful to the Lords flock. Your message is legalistic, any one who is legalistic can not bear fruit. You just might be paying your tithing (l do not thing so!) but l know you're not bearing fruit. Jesus said repent, take up your cross and be lead by the Spirit. Christians pay taxes, which pays for Church's , the poor and many other things. The tith was a tax. If you walk in the Spirit the Lord will teach how to give or were to give, for God will judge the greedy person. How is your Spiritual life? materialism does not bring you closer to God, but only the spiritual things, like Death to the Flesh
There's no such thing as a biblical monetary tithe. Blessings in your giving but tithing wasn't giving. It was a tax under Mosaic Law only couldn't be paid with money.
Really sad to see you attribute everything you have worked for and earned in life to be a gift from God rather than something you built Fascinating to see what people believe from an atheist's perspective. I've studied the bible more than most Christians, some of these ideas seem very contrary to what the book states
Special pleading 🥺, tithing is for the 11 tribes of Israel to support the Levites. Disciple is just another word for wallet to the church, give give give is just another word for greed greed greed sugar coated
I agree on tithing and our deacon says it is 10% of your gross income. That I do not agree with! Until the diocese start spending our money wisely they are not getting one penny from me. I am not paying for the homosexual predation going on in the church and I'm not paying for the lawsuits.
Nobody said you specifically had to tithe to the diocese. You can give that 10% to a specific Catholic group which is orthodox like the FSSP, ICKSP, or a Catholic charity/pro-life group.
@@sassy3217 Then send your money to an orthodox seminary like the FSSP or ICKSP. Or send it to a Catholic Pro-life group or charity. Or send it directly to a priest. Plenty of options.
@@sassy3217 We need to take action if there is mismanagement of funds. If civil authorities can be asked to look into it, well and good. It's our church; it's not the church of clergymen. We have to reclaim it. we have to do something about mismanagement of funds.
Not biblical. You are doing docrines of men. The Tithe of the old testament days was always about bringing your first fruit crops. It is a metaphor for JESUS coming. Today tithe is BAAL worship. Yes you should help the poor, but do not give money to a church organization to donate to the poor for you. This is the same type offering of Cane.
People talk about the lavender mafia which is real. And infiltration by the masons . I'm more inclined towards international Jewry the original antichrist. Go watch Francis kiss the Rothschilds rings it's shocking

I give to the poor directly like when I travel to England and Scotland. There are many legitimate citizens who are homeless. I also support St. Anthony's Charity in Padua, Italy and the Salvation Army for years. I volunteer to help the Seniors in our Parish.
With good stewardship the 90% will always be more than enough if the tenth is given with a full heart and good will
Giving and gratefulles can't be separet it because if we up knowledge by Feith that what we have is been given to us so we should be able to share it Amen
u r amazing thats why i wish u read about the last message of God, Islam. with ur pure heart that seeking for God side
Assist in the need of the church - very good!
Then the question after this must be: “What is the CHURCH?”
@@darryndsouza7896 The FSSP and ICKSP have held their ground against Vatican II boomerism. Give your $ to them.
Exactly! Give the money to SSPX, FSSP or any traditional congregation it’s better
Could you share a few of your favorite charities?
You're Catholic? I'm impressed by your Love of God.
Amen
Tithing was never money, they had money called shackles in the Old Testament
Let us not muddle the two, it creates confusion which is a weapon from satan whose a liar. .
But also remember that the 10% is opcional and its supposed to go to the poor or the needy of supplies.
That was the intention of the laws of Moses.
I prefer tithing rather than taxes.
AYEEEE TAXATION IS THEFT BRO TITHING IS SUPERIOR
I wish christian kingdoms back with charity schools, hospitals controled by saint people of Church instead of overwhelming state. 10% selftax for Church would be then no problem for almost everyone.
Hi, but beyond being generous or not I would like to know if you register as a Parishioner in the Roman Catholic Church are you committing to tithe?. I already donate money for a cause of my choice, but I would like to know my obligations as Parishioner before I commit to that… Thanks 🙏🏼
I cannot in good conscience tithe until the church cleans up its act. I’m giving to outside charities on the meantime
It’s also in the words of Jesus - Matthew 23:23.
❤❤❤❤❤
I direct my donation to certain funds rather than the parish general fund so it not as easy to be pilfered by bishops.
In the OT there were actually 3 tithes totalling ~23% per year.
And they were all received as consumable items.
Is it ok to give your tithe to other Parishes or only just your own
I totally believe in tithing, but does that 10% all have to go to your parish/diocese,? Or just to various Church organizations in general?
Where the Holy Spirit leads as you listen to His voice in your daily set aside prayer times?
Make a video on evangelizing
Yes❤
Thanks.
KM being led by the Spirit is all you require
@@andrewdrew677 Um ... not really. First of all, protestants believe they are being led by the spirit but we believe that they are definitely wrong on some issues. So that isn't a particularly good litmus test. Moreover, they get on here and talk about what kids should or shouldn't do in regards to dating. Well, that's a parent's job, not theirs. But if they're going to provide advice (and talk about it like they have the full weight of the Church behind them), then I would expect them to have some formal training. So my question stands.
*_There is NO Godly commandment to tithe!!!!!! And anyone saying otherwise is a criminal and should be arrested and convicted. PERIOD!!!!!!_*
Give %10 but don't put your name on the envelope. God knows you gave it you don't have to tell Him.
Canon law?? Please...
Ummm tithe literally means a tenth. Malachi 3:8,10 talks about tithing
I don’t have the money to do this
There's no such thing as a biblical monetary tithe. Blessings in your giving but tithing wasn't giving. It was a tax under Mosaic Law only couldn't be paid with money.
I always mispronounce tithe. I'm always looking up the pronunciation.
😸😸😸
Really sad to see you attribute everything you have worked for and earned in life to be a gift from God rather than something you built
Fascinating to see what people believe from an atheist's perspective.
@@mosesking2923 , sorry, I also forgot to mention mismanagement of funds at the parish level. This has been an on going problem at some parishes.
You do not have to give to your diocese to support the Church ask the Holy Spirit where He wants you to put the finances you are stewarding!
10% of 0 is still 0
If you've ever visited the Vatican you'll know the cc does not have a shortage of it
Visit your local parish in winter and check if the heating system is working :)
Private jets to travel ‘decent sustenance for ministers’ 🤣🤣🤣🤣
That’s the fruit of protestantism and “prosperity” preachers
Not biblical. You are doing docrines of men. The Tithe of the old testament days was always about bringing your first fruit crops. It is a metaphor for JESUS coming. Today tithe is BAAL worship. Yes you should help the poor, but do not give money to a church organization to donate to the poor for you. This is the same type offering of Cane.
No more tithing till this corruption ends.give it to the poor directly
spider ok Hoping you can feel and think differently in the future. But giving to the poor is always so worthy.
Just giving money away won't solve the problem but putting the money in the right places and systems will
People talk about the lavender mafia which is real.

I think, we have to listen to that inner voice on what we have to do. We have free will.
