Awesome channel! I just found you - I am in the USA. It's so much appreciated to have knowledgeable advice from around the globe from Gouldian breeders and show patrons like you. My flock and I are hooked!
very nice effort! tell me please, for us we live in north hemisphere, and not in tropic zone, when is the right time to put gouldians for breed? ihave 2 pairs but they start molting these days....
For a yellow/orange head to be a visual they have to carry 1 copy of the red head gene. Therefore they have two copies of orange and one copy red. It would therefore be less of an issue. Particularly a hen to a red headed cock would be fine. I hope this answers the question. I am recording today so I will discuss it as well.
Thank you for the information packed video. Why is it that some purple breasted green back hens looks like black headed birds, but on close inspection you find a few red feathers? Leon, Southern Cape.
This normally happens when the hen comes from a mixed pairing. But can happen with the same head colour pairing. I have also got a hen that was very clearly a red head before her molt but now look almost a black head the red is so little.
Hi Johnny. Sorry for the delayed response. I was trying to find out fir you if it has a certain name. I just know them as white auto feeders. Wish I could be more helpful.
Thank you again, lots of food for thought on pairings.
Thank you so much for sharing such precious knowledge ! Definetly going to check her works

Thank you for sharing! Are Gouldians difficult to breed, in comparison to canaries?
Hi. I have personally never kept canaries but from what I understand canaries are easier to keep and breed.
But if you decide to start with gouldians I'm happy to advise as and when you need it.
@@thehouseofgouldians Thank you so much! I will take you on your offer in the future. Have a great weekend!
