@@haywoodjblome4768 HUH?? what that "Oscar worthy" acting is then?? Is it supposed to have overacting, pretentiousness or EXTREME loud emotions to be considered one?? If so then maybe you are right. Otherwise objectively you are very very wrong here, honestly. It's Carrey's ABSOLUTE best performance and is simply one of the greatest, most honest, and most nuanced performances of the 2000s decade. It stomps every performance 12 feet deep into the ground that was nominated that year besides Cheadle who was equally as great in Hotel Rwanda.
jim was so good in this movie. it was also, at this time, such a big 180 or departure, from his comedic work. he's definitely one of the best to ever do it.
I will continue my journey from 18years of age into my 34th year so utterly in love with this film as if I have seen it for the first time. The film looks like a stranger to me at my first sighting and seeing it now I know so much about it as if we've been good friends for a lifetime, I catch it in waves now, tiny glimpses because it keeps it preserved and special that way. I hear faint sounds from a far and I feel instant feelings that remind me of warm memories, the kind of memories that u can't quite put ur finger on, but the feeling of love and loss intertwine with youth and a lifetime of pain for all worth A child like essence that evolves into maturity and the depth is something, it's really something great
When I watched that scene with the bird it brought back a similar type of experience as a kid. It was so traumatic when I was a kid and I had buried that away because of the level of shame I felt. It is crazy to see that sort of thing in a movie and came to realize this sort of thing happens to a lot of people as they grow up. Really powerful to include it in the movie.
The BIGGEST tears every time. Its such a beautiful scene and representation of unrelenting love that no matter how obscure and new the situation is to you, you still have your s/o back.
Are there any other long clips of Jim Carrey discussing this film? This is the only one I've been able to find. I've seen lengthy interviews with Kate and the director, but none of Jim. Would love to find one.
I remember reading some time ago that the director knew Jim was going thru something and decided this was the better fit. I think it worked. Perfect Joel casting imo. Glad we see his full arc through out.
As a viewer eternal sunshine is one of the most visually stunning pieces of film I have ever seen the sets for the memories are so beautifully storyboarded I think is the word that you can feel the emotions right through the screen
A Profound evisceration of the soul. A chance to find what was never lost. 10+ an all time favorite movie and such a seemingly unlikely couple, so much emotional attachment to them by the end "your heart says he needs her and she needs him, and by God they better end up together or it's going to be a suicide movie. For the audience, I mean...Respect! Jim's best. Kat's best. It's the only film that I feel the need to immediately start over...❤ that's a very special thing😅
No, really. There is a select group of us on the planet that felt this movie on a deeper plane than your regular movie watcher didnt get.. I promise , we are out there...
jim carrey was like 45 when this came out and kate was i think 28... i wonder why the decided to go with such a massive gap...he looked like he could easily be her father lol
Jim Carrey should have won the Oscar that year. What a powerful and honest performance. One of the best emotional performances I have ever seen.
Does he have any oscars?
It's a good performance and showed his versatility, but not really Oscar worthy imo

Right! Especially cause he was known to be 'the funny guy' really showed what he can do.. same when Sandler did Punk Drunk Love
Can't even lie this movie broke me but lifted me up in so many ways
I feel like this film had huge part in his “awakening”.
One of my favorite movies of all time...
jim was robbed of an oscar nomination at least and i’m still mad about this almost 20 years after the movie had come out
He was amazing
Comedians always make the best dramatic actors

Gondry's Masterpiece. Something you couldn't erase from your memory even if you tried...
Don’t forget Kaufman’s writing

WOW
I know that feeling, you expressed it well. 💔

Best movie of all time. The stars aligned with this movie.
Jim Carrey riding that bed is priceless.

Great movie. Great casting. Great team of production.

I love this movie so much
Why do I have such an appreciation for Jim Carey after watching this movie? Just a tiny crush.. 🙈

I think this wasn't a particularly nice time, so I don't blame him for not wanting to talk about it
"True love will find you in the end"
Jim Carrey throwing the tape recorder is really interesting, it's funny but not for long. It gets real, real fast.
I remember reading some time ago that the director knew Jim was going thru something and decided this was the better fit. I think it worked. Perfect Joel casting imo. Glad we see his full arc through out.

Most Favorite Films Ever
Jim and Kate have great chemistry too
13:19 - 14:03 made me cry 😭 IRL he just broke up with RZ at that time😢
I feel so bad for him after hearing himself saying I hate women then breaking the tape machine
That part made me cry 😢 he was going thru a bad break up IRL 😢)
Kate handled it beautifully. She is such a charming and maternal person. They were both so beautiful in this film.

It's the best film hes ever stared in and is a true masterpiece. It's hard for me to watch these days though. Hits too close to home.
don't forget soundtrack. Korgis and Beck cover and all instrumental short stories

I disagree. Kate looks more mature than her age at that time.
