This is the best golf channel hands down
Thank you Gentlemen, I have played golf my whole life, on 4 different continents, and have learned, since I started to follow TXG, how little I really understood the nuts and bolts of the game. Gareth is a gem, and you guys are stars for putting all of this great, extremely interesting information out to us. Thank you kindly.
Exactly it!
Finally after 30
Years I am
Understanding the game a bit ❤️
Brilliant instruction by Gareth to begin with setup and aim.
These short game videos with Gareth have been very interesting.
Probably the best, technical, instructionnal and yet humble golf videos out there ... way too eager to watch the next video ...
The best instructors are those who manage to make technical stuff easy and natural to understand, here's a perfect exemple in my opinion.
Cheers from France
"Interesting..." = Matt's mind is blown :-)
Love Gareth's view on how he set Matt up not parallel so hes not lining up the green and floor setup. Brilliant, thinking outside the box!
New TXG game...
Every time Matt says ‘Interesting’ we drink! 😂😂😂
Another great video gentlemen! Thank you
Whoever disliked the video is a twit. Incredible lessons and knowledge from Gareth here and as usual amazing videos from TXG. Keep up the excellent work!
Agreed, can never figure out why I see it....here and elsewhere....I often wonder it the "competition" of the guy(s) posting the youtube enters a thumbs down.
Gareth is the best short, short game I've ever seen. He's uses the bodies own natural responses with to improve the short game!!! Nice work....
This is golden, A lot of people can learn from this!
More putting videos please, this was fantastic. I now have a backlog to watch from Gareth.
Just found you guys this week. I'm loving this series with Gareth. Thank you guys!
Simple method but highlights Matts errors so clearly. Enjoying Gareth’s teaching, was hitting low punchey 8 irons at the range today.
Nice video! Ian fit me a while back and watching these makes me want to come back. Nice to see a great fitter increase knowledge to get even better 👍
Thank you for the putting and wedges videos with Gareth. Brilliant stuff.
Absolutely brilliant. Great words of wisdom and advice from Gareth.
Fantastic stuff. Thank you guys!
Another gem! Pulled out my metal ruler ran through his core fundamentals and now see the line much better! Thanks again!
this channel has become my go to , love the content and the detail provided in to the process. I am in Alberta Canada and I’m debating a trip to TO just to set up a fitting next time I buy clubs.
Gareth is really great to watch the aim drill is something we all can do and check. Terrific stuff thanks Ian and Matt for making us all a little better.Cheers from NorCal
Awesome video! This actually really helped me out while I was practicing last night! Pretty much made anything inside 5ft only missed three out of the 40 practice shots I did!
Awesome stuff guys 👍 Matt, I'm learning quite a bit from your lessons with Gareth and with Larry since your tendencies are very similar to my own. Keep up the good work!
Another excellent video. Thanks boys!
You guys are killing it!
I have learned a lot today. Great video. Gareth is great.
Love the videos with Gareth!
This advice works. Started applying it to my putting and I’m seeing big improvements in my putting stats.
This content is so good. Value added!!!! Thank you
For me, along with Ronnie's videos (ha ha) one of the most anticipated TXG videos. Let's go...
Loved the video fellas. Great insight into putting mechanics.
G'Day, Ian, Matt & Gareth...wow that was a free lesson on putter set up...Thanks Fellas.....
Incredible content! I'm sure driver reviews get more views and likes but for my money give me the short game series.
so much good information. I am defiantly going to be doing this with myself and my kids.
Incredibly informative and helpful! Very simple and effective steps to improve your alignment. Excellent work guys!
Great info, looking forward to next putting vid!
Wow this is actually really useful. Thanks for posting it!
Amazing stuff you guys are doing!
I have a love/hate relationship with the ruler drill. It can be so freaking frustrating, but also so helpful.
Thank you so much this is very kind of you
Great vid as always. Love putting videos so many strokes to be saved. 3' putt counts like a 300yd drive.
Talk about timing. I was just talking with my brother about getting him to consider a putter fitting. I’ll be sharing this with him.
Fantastic video, guys! Gareth makes a lot of good points there.
Another excellent piece of content guys. Gareth provides such simple ways of checking/altering fundamentals that can influence everything that comes after and his explanations are so clear they are very easy to understand and replicate. I just spent 30 minutes using these alignment and face angle checks and discovered a simple correction almost immediately. The big discovery was that my set-up put my eyes too far forward (past the ball). Because I was always missing to the left (RH golfer) I had developed a habit of aligning to the right of target. Using Gareth's alignment exercise I found the correct set-up and eye position and now there is no second-guessing the line. All I need to do now is practice it more to embed it as my new set up. Pleasingly, I confirmed my ball position, stroke and choice of putter seem pretty good - I can consistently keep the ball on a 27" x 3/4" ruler. A quick 10 minute session and I didn't miss my target (an egg cup) once from a 10' to 15' range. I reckon I'll save up to 3 puts a rounds with this simple correction. I'm stoked. Would love to see more content with Gareth. Loved the two chipping sessions too - real game changers for me. Cheers.
Great video again with Gareth. I found out a while ago that moving the ball back 1 inch allows me to align and strike my putts better.
Ruler ordered!! Excellent stuff guys...
Thank you, very educative.
I’m late to the game with this episode and don’t know how I missed it but this episode literally blew my mind 🤯
Awesome video guys. Thank you
Hey Gareth any chance there would some Monday’s in the future you’d be available Matty needs lots of work. I am sure a lot of us will sacrifice watching the video of you sharing your hard work of knowledge gains. 👍👍👍 Gareth Thanks again for posting a follow up video on your Instagram after spending all day with these wannabe UA-camrs ⭐️😂, hopefully you’ll upload the segment to your channel as it was pure class for you to do that! 👍 Don’t worry about these two Bandit and I enrolled them in Minecraft For Beginners class in case they don’t make it big as golf related information channel. 😂👍👍👍
Brilliant video, so much that I just didn’t know. Just hoping I can apply some of the knowledge!
Such great info guys!👍👍
Really, really interesting. Thankyou
I have been missing a lot of short putts to the left as I have been pulling my putts. I believe that you have confirmed what I have been thinking that it is the ball position in my stance. I'm really going to practice on getting that ball in the middle of my stance more consistently to see if that helps address at least one aspect of variation in my putting. Thanks guys!
Ian - when you fit my own putter to me it made a world of difference. Basically took 2.5 degrees off my Scotty Cameron so the ball started rolling quicker and not launching it.
Everyone - if you haven't had a putter fitting, I highly recommend seeing TXG or another qualified fitter. Can't say enough about how much it helps. Then it's just everything else ;)
Maybe the 2 dislikes were likes but there aim was out 😂. Great vid guys, Gareth is excellent.
That was brilliant
Truly excellent instruction video. Would be great to also have one about getting the putting length right
Very interesting. Good one guys.
Great insights. I have often found that my stroke feels pretty good and my line ends up actually pretty consistent when I close my eyes and just putt based on feel and muscle memory. However, when I try to line up the same putt, I often find myself pushing putts and missing right. Now that he's mentioned it, it does feel like I'm manipulating the stroke a bit to compensate for a perceived alignment issue. Will be good to put this to the test during the next practice session.
This is awesome content. 👍
Such good info!
Excellent well done gents
Fantastic video! Taking this to the practice green tomorrow
Wow, another great video. My issue is that I am able to align myself really well for long shots, but I must be getting some sort of parallax alignment issue on short shots. I can hit it dead straight along the ruler, but the closer I am to the hole, the more my alignment is off. Any tips for that? Use the ruler test to calibrate my vision for various distances to see how the short ones differ?
That was so good
another great video guys. looks like im really needing a meter stick now. Pretty sure im guilty of always having the ball to far forward in my stance
Mat (or Gareth you can pass this along to him)...I'm 10 minutes in and TO GET REPEATABLE ON SETUP--- what you can do is put the tip of the putter at the edge of the ball closest to you then take your putter again from the bottom of your putter and measure the distance from your tips of your toes to the other measurement. THEN you have a repeatable setup when on the course.
Damn it this is some valuable shit. Love your stuff gents!
I’ve been fighting this for years!!! My eyes line me up left of target (righty golfer), then I stroke putt after putt from 10’ grooving a push to the hole. Then, using line on the ball with line on the putter “looks” right of target to me so my brain does all sorts of awefulness to my stroke (especially) as I get closer to the hole. Moving away from the ball for me has helped, and I’m currently trying to retrain my eyes at home this winter with a putting mirror, laser and camera. This video pops up and confirmed everything! Hope all my hard work translates to the greens this year and I’m really looking forward to the upcoming putter head and neck videos to hopefully confirm what I think I already think I know🤣. Or maybe it opens me up to try something else that even works better. Silly game
Another great video! One question, how does eye dominance factor into setup for putting? I'm a LH putter with Right eye dominance and everything I read is giving conflicting answers on what type of putter is suitable for proper aiming.
so simply brilliant- get fitted for a putter/ball combo that gives you good distance control as well and you will save many many shots per round. What would you recommend a warm up routine for putting to be?
I tend to be fine aiming and aligning on putts that break left to right (im a lefty) but on putts that break right to left I always tend to think I am not playing enough break and I tend to miss short putts by over reading it. I find I have somewhat fixed this issue by using a line on the ball and training myself to just trust it but I must admit that is still difficult to trust the read all the time.
Is there any benefit in having a shorter putter, given that Matt is standing closer to the ball? Or does optical alignment suggest that tour golfers prefer to stand slightly further from the ball and as such, have a more fluid putting stroke? Is a centre shafted putter a better option if focusing on the hosel improves alignment? A very interesting and.informative session with Gareth. May there be many more. Thanks guys.🇦🇺👍
Gareth really knows his stuff, I'm impressed.
Seriously. This series of videos with Gareth basically have me questioning my life.
I bought the ruler just because the info provided was worth the $38..... looking forward to trying it out
One of the first focus of Mr. Raflewski was Matt's eye position over the ball. Has TXG or Mr. Raflewski done any work with the Odyssey Red Ball putter? Any opinions on the Red Ball putter?
Excellent video. Great instruction.
Super random. Matt, what brand is that shirt. Need it
TXG Tour Experience Golf you’re an absolute gentleman. Much appreciated
When looking from behind the golf did Gareth want the putter in line with the neck and tailbone or the ball?
can he look at the Golf Lab putter set up I think he would be a huge help
Thank you gentlemen, your information is crucial and incredible. Unfortunately for me I am from Quebec and for me it is too far to meet you in Toronto. Can you recommend a place and a coach in Quebec please. Thank you for answering me and congratulations to TXG Tour Experience Golf I follow your videos regularly
great video period! thanks guys! any thoughts of tempo in putting?? i hear some say that a tempo of 2.0 is ideal. I'd love to know your guys' thoughts.
didn't get into that in this particular video, but I'm sure we will next time we see Gareth!
What about somebody who putts with an open stance. How can you determine ball position from standing behind if you don’t putt with a square stance?
sorry, there were people in this video? I couldn't take my eyes off of those two magnificent bouquets of scottys
Could being right handed but left eye dominant affect set up at address ?
So is Gareth saying he always likes to see the ball in the middle of the stance? I've been to a putter fitting as well as a few lessons, and it was suggested I play the ball 1 ball forward as it works with my stroke (I get the proper loft coming in, and start it on-line better). So is that an absolute? Or varies per stroke
How do I get this type of job?? Do I need to be a golf pro or is there an academic route into this? What advice/steps could anyone give me into what I'd need to do to have this type of occupation? Thanks
How would lie angle come into the equation?
How wide is that ruler? Gareth mentioned the ruler would hold a ball at plus or minus 0.5, but 0.5 what? Degrees? That would make the ruler only 10/16" wide (~16mm).. But it appears wider than that? Thanks!
That looks like the putting green on The Price is Right.
Matt wins for best job ever
How do I combat multi focal glasses? When I turn my head everything distorts?
Ken, I've worn Eyeglasses since I was 8 years old.
Get a pair of Distance Only prescription Eyeglasses for Golf.
Personally, I love the Brown tint Transition Lenses. They enhance the variety of shades of green in the grasses.
🤯
I wish Gareth lived closer
How tall is Matt? When he's hitting driver I would swear he was 6'4" but standing near other people he seems more like 5'10".
every single time.....
it looks like Matt is just moving his feet in & out, aren't you wanting his head to move also In & Out?
Great to hear a teacher say the most important thing is "can you aim your putter". If you're not aiming your putter where you think it's aiming nothing else matters. Fantastic video.
