Lifting a 2022 Ford Maverick FX4

- Hey hey! I’m excited to share my first small project out of the new shop! One of our members at our gym was in a car accident resulting in him flipping and thankfully without injury but ended up buying his first brand new vehicle. He’s trolled about this 2022 Ford Maverick FX4! He asked me if he bought a lift if I’d be willing to help him with it so that exactly what we did! Slapped on a quick 2” strut lift with the boys!

I have been waiting to see this truck lifted. I like it
There are a lot out there, check Google
Dang! You lifted my truck! Thanks for giving me a look. I'm thinking of doing the same thing to my silver FX4.
Lol nice!!!
Just go buy a Ranger if you wanna sit higher. You'll get the same ride height and not void your warranty and ruin your suspension geometry.
@@stylin60es Not unless you get the hybrid. But then you can't have AWD. I'm getting about 25.5mpg in my maverick, and that's a lot of highway driving. Meanwhile a ranger is only rated a 3 mpg lower with 29 vs 26 mpg.
So why didn't I buy a ranger? Well a similarly configured ranger was $44k OTD vs $30,900 OTD. By that point, how much more to get the F150? the 2.7 EB is also rated at 26 MPG and the 3.5 EB is supposedly 24 mpg, and those are in full size trucks. The ranger makes no sense unless you don't want something as small as a maverick or as big as an F150. That's literally the only way to justify the purchase.
@@heroofharo and I totally agree the Ranger makes no sense (now that the Maverick is here). They should just lift the Maverick and be done with it. Anybody who needs to tow more should just get an F150.
That looks good. Nice to see some work done in the shop and will be awesome once the lift(s) are in
Hopefully next month 🤞🏻🤞🏻
That silver looks great on the maverick
Would you consider adding the Sprins Eibach Pro Lift kit, keeping the Stock tires and Shocks?
Yes
Cool lift and all, but where did you get the capybara from?
Lol 😂 I idk it wasn’t mine
Even lifted with tires it gets decent mileage per gallon
Great build. Now the real question... how big of a tire will fit there with that lift kit installed? Cuz 35's ain't gonna happen. Maybe 31's or 33's?
31” is max in my opinion.
I’ve got 265/65 17 on mine think that was a 30.6” tires rub on a sharp turn but otherwise no rub. Mostly because of the tire width not the tire height. Width is about a 10 but not quite.
@@holycow8233 I believe a 245/70 r17 is equivalent in diameter, so maybe a set of those won't rub so much.
BTW, 10 inches equals 254 mm, so it is like a 10.5" wide tire (10.433" to be exact)
Great video! I'm glad the world is figuring out lifting 4 wheel IFS !
Thanks for watching!! And totally agree!
@@ChaseGentry I can't believe how good my Jeep (4 wheel independent) handles even after a lift. I went up two sizes wider (to 265) and it almost handles as well as it did before the lift. I can still drive it really hard and it's nowhere close to rolling over , etc. I'm pretty sure I can't drive a Wrangler like that on the street. I can do 80 mph + on the interstate... No shake, etc. Rides like a Honda Accord, etc. No I don't drive that fast but I've passed someone going that fast , sure. No issues.
@@off-roadingexplained8417 sounds like a well built system!
@@ChaseGentry I added a strut tower brace also. Highly recommended for on road performance. You can probably get one for yours also. The steering is ridiculous. I should have put a strut tower brace on every car I had.
🎉 finally a real truck 🛻
Thanks for posting this, I plan to do this in the near future
Thanks for watching!
Came here for the lift on that mav but let's talk about that obs Bronco 😁
😈😈 it’s a 2023 project😮💨 almost done with my shop 😉
Would those huge tires mess with the gearing? Did that on my escape a while back and it had no power in overdrive.
😂 we didn’t actually Mount those but your correct
Awesome video!!!
🙏🙏🙏 thanks for watching
This is sick
These trucks need a custom suspension with drop brackets to really get a lift. Thats probably going to be too much for the stock drive line. Still cool trucks though
Olá, você teve algum problema nos componentes depois de um tempo instalado este kit
So far so good!
I want the suspension lift but what concerned me is the price of the Rough Country suspension lift. $600 for springs, struts, and two coil overs seems sus. Seems way too low
Good point kit seemed legit though tbh.
Awesome! Love it. Great job. What wheels and what size tires? Thanks
I notice that lifted maverick rear wheels sit further forward. Is that a bad thing and can it be fixed?
Due to the way the lift is engineered there’s no way to keep wheels in same place with this specific lift However it would affect it negatively .
Somebody gotta do it...
Needs a Cobb tuner
Definitely
Pretty awesome 👊 😁 👍 🇺🇲
You fellas in South Texas?
Yes
Did you check your inner cv boot if they leak? Nice Maverick
Nope there’s no reason to check them. Truck had under 1000 miles.
Did lifted my Maverick and put a big tires under 800 miles good thing I check the next day. I was able fix it right away.
My Fwd Maverick measured 33 3/4 and 35 3/4. Also I have 225/65/17 and I thought FX4 came with 235/65/17. Weird.
That’s is weird
FX4 comes with 225/65R17 Pirelli Scorpion ATRs. You can upgrade to the machine face aluminum wheels (FX4 not required, just AWD XLT or Lariat) and those wheels come with 235/65R17 Falken Wildpeak AT3s
Does the lift affect fuel mileage if you kept the stock tires on it
No 🤘🏻
@@ChaseGentry Thank you some say it did that's why I was asking just curious thanks again
@@billcurry8982 adding larger tires would but it would be very minimal on the specific vehicle just lifting it
@@ChaseGentry I was thinking one size up A mile or 2 I wouldn't care that much still would be around 25 with my 2.0
I did the level kit. Only had the jack that came with the spare. Very scary. After I was done, I didn’t like it. I then uninstalled it. I’m trying to fit 31/32 inch tires, but it appears that the front strut bottom plate may be in the way. May end up trimming it.
I got a hybrid
To my understanding a 31 is max tire size and a narrower tire is ideal
@@ChaseGentry yeah it looks like that’s true. Hoping I can trim a little of the strut plate where the spring sits just enough to clear it
If you want a real truck tire you'll have to buy a real truck first. I don't hate the mavericks but they are what they are. They are literally a crossover mini truck.
@@canyonero2050 sound like a hater to me
Is it 4x4?
Yes
Which size tire and wheel is
Stock back on the truck
by doing this dose it cancel out any warranty from ford?
I recently asked this at the dealer. Whatever you change on the truck will only cancel what you change. So if you add the lift kit, then they won't warranty that if it breaks. Pretty reasonable
How much did the miles per gallon go down
I don’t really know but knowing how that thing doesn’t make a whole lotta power probably getting 10-15 now
Nice
Thanks
US Flag is hanging backwards
Is this about the maverick or about the guy talking???
Got to see about 3 seconds of the profile of the car....
Camera guy made me sea sick
I only see about one of these Mavericks per month. What a joke!
Same thing I was thinking. I live in Northern Illinois, and I did a road trip in June 2022. I was in St. Louis, Nashville, Owensboro and Louisville, and I saw four Mavericks the entire trip. I saw even less of the Santa Cruz. I hear Ford and Hyundai can keep up with demand. I assume Texas and California are buying them up, because I don't see them. 😆
What’s the joke …
@ChaseGentry After about a gazillion internet reviews extolling the virtues of these two "trucks" where are they?
@@MilkMan608 They are all sold out. The 2022s sold out after a few months and the 2023s sold out within just a few days.
They’re very common on my area. I guess it depends
🤣😂
What is the point of this? If you didn't want a crossover mini truck just go buy a ranger. You'll have the same ride height without having to pay for a lift and ruin all the factory suspension geometry. This isn't any different then lifting a Ford focus.
Lol cuz this I platform is cheaper than ranger
Lifting a Ford Focus sounds like a solid plan.
Better gas mileage, cheaper platform, about everything you need without anything you don't. I just bought one myself. 2022 Ford Maverick XLT FX4 4k towing.
@@JWill6969 congratulations!! 👊🏻👊🏻👌
Your American flag is not displayed correctly.
Stars are always top left corner
As your concept of "america" or u mean the u.s. flag? Never seen the continental flag before... just saying
@@100obed1 Congrats, you’re that guy.
The truck kind of sucks. Awd over heats turns off temporarily. Battery problems electrical problems the stock scorpion tires suck balls. Not a very good truck for the money. Oh you get high centered in snow and spent the tires it disables the awd and then it cuts power to the front and you can't get up a Slippery hill
Click bait
😂 🎣
There goes the factory warranty. Hope you won't need it now..
Not my truck and I usually voice warranties too 😂
Not everybody cares
