Coming from an old glass installer...when you rope in a windshield, pull the rope to the center of the glass and not away from the frame and you won't tear the gasket. Also keep the windshield vertical and start roping from the bottom/center and finish at the top center. Oh, one last tip, spray some of that glass cleaner on the gasket. It will lube it up but then dry and not make a mess.
I found this video very helpful. I placed the windshield and frame on horses with a board smaller than the windshield to help press it into the frame as I roped the gasket. I also put tire mounting lube in the rope which really helped and prevented tearing- it’s organic like green clean and will disappear over time.
Longest part I’ve had and is not installed on my bronco my Dana 44 front axle with disc brakes I’ve had the axle and disc brakes for 21 years. But....... I’ve finally got the axle rebuilt this summer (2021)
Hi Jon, Love watching your videos, always entertaining. I may have you beat with parts waiting for installation. I have a brand new in the boxes set of 5, 17” Indy slot wheels, that I purchased in August of 2014. And I bet it will another year or more before they get installed.
Thanks John, I need to do this too. I’ve watched the wildhorses video on it too. I would try black silicone, try to smooth it out flat w the silicon and maybe painters tape on top to hold it tight. If that looks like crap after it dries I d prob get a new seal and do it again.
I'd say go through a car wash and check if the seal leaks, if not definitely leave it! All of my window seals leak when i go through the car wash but not when it rains. its on the to do list
Nashville Early Bronco i replaced mine. I created a video for the gasket and stiffner, but hard to video when i couldn’t fold the window down due to wiring. So holing it with one hand and cleaning and installing was already hard. Need some more practice with like you do with all your videos.
Well, its kind of a long story. My dad gave me the bronco when i was 16 and had bought the kit for it. Yet before we could install it i blew the engine and the truck sat for 18 years while i went through the military and college.
I can't believe you slid the old windshield across your hood. You could have scratched the rust Lol ! Just kidding. I put duct tape over the cracks first. Great video, Thanks !

Great advice! I should have called you before I did this.
@@NashvilleEarlyBronco haha next time. I'll do your glass work if you wire up my pro flo 4.
William Wright haha! Deal!
Never thought of glass cleaner. I always used silicone spray.
Thank you for the tip I’ve got to put a windshield in my bronco

Thanks again, this will come in very useful. I ordered a new top for the wife's Bronco and will need to transfer the the side and rear glass. Aloha!
Parts I've had..... Bought my Dana 44 front axle in 1998 finally getting to rebuild it now
Whoa!! Haha
@@NashvilleEarlyBronco that's the one part I've had the longest

Get it in there Nic!

Whoa!!! That does beat me!
Black silicone could fix that. So nice to see the videos rolling on this hard times. Keep safe
You too friend!
Thanks Jon! Dana 44 and Duff Master Cylinder 7 years, Windshield frame and gasket 8 years, front springs and full bushing kit 9 years! 🙄😏😎
Whoa!!! Might not be the longest, but definitely the MOST parts sitting on the shelf 😂
@@NashvilleEarlyBronco well I'm retired now so I got no excuses, can't wait to get it back on the road! Great video you made it look easy Jon! 😏

You don't want to use silicone, you should be using a liquid butyl sealer
i've had a holley snipper EFI sitting in my truck for a year and a half
That’s not too bad. But you are in the lead so far
I'd say go through a car wash and check if the seal leaks, if not definitely leave it! All of my window seals leak when i go through the car wash but not when it rains. its on the to do list
It used to leak in the rain. Hoping this will be the fix
I have been told the chrome trim around the window is a pain to install, can we get a video on you doing that please?
I’ll work on that 👍🏼
Timely video. Getting ready to do mine. Keep up the great work!
Awesome!
Black super weather stripped back together you're good
i have a similar green 76. I have the gasket if you want to try it again on mine!
Mark haha!!!
Any knowledge on replacing/ removing an old windshield frame? The frames appears to be welded in place along the piano hinge.
I actually haven’t had to replace that
I bought door panels for my bronco in 2005. One is installed. Passenger side still in the box.
Whoa! Going on 15 years! Nice.
I have to install my rear view mirror on my windshield what’s the measurement that you got for doing that?
Honestly I just put it on where it felt right
Did you replace the gasket at the bottom hinge? I just ordered one wondering what it involves. I have never folded it down.
I didn’t replace it. Good luck

I have a complete 2.5 in james duff suspension kit that has been sitting for 18 years....
18 years!!! Holy! That’s along time

Did you happen to reinstall the chrome pieces? Was wondering if they snap back in or is there some adhesive to use? Thanks.
They snap back in
@@NashvilleEarlyBronco Thank you!
Got my new windshield installed. Thanks for this video. Helped out a lot.
Nice!
Thx for the video. Leave the cuts and seal it with black RTV. You'll never know. Did you install your speakers yet?
Not yet
We can't do a gathering but about time to do a Nashville area drive ....
Yes!!!!
If later on you paint you're bronco just leave windshield rubber like is then when you paint replace it
Do not EVER paint that bronco. It is gorgeous the way it is.
looks good. Thanks
Man, pops was skinny in that windshield install video😂😂 haha haven't seen that one in a while!
Haha! It’s a good one
Use soapy water and take your time. I would replace. Use cotton rope
are those original seats? they kinda look like mustang seats
They are original
Bronco seats are mustang seats, just Ford saving money back in the day.
I ripped mine twice. Mine isn’t a super nice bronco so it’s fine with me.
I can't believe you slid the old windshield across your hood. You could have scratched the rust Lol ! Just kidding. I put duct tape over the cracks first. Great video, Thanks !
Haha!!! “Don’t scratch my rust!!!”
My longest part…Turn signal cancel…2009 to 2024…so 15 years for not installed…
Whoa!
Heders
We all get those faces! I don’t have kids but I’m sure that face has appeared once n a while in my life time lol
😲 Don't leave it. DON'T replace it. Find a rubber cement that'll seal it w/out makin it it HARDEN, so it rots and cracks faster.
😂😂
Longest part....15years...tailgate anti rattlers, hardtop weather striping hard top liner...lol
There is also another guy who Did an install windshield video. But he is a knuckle head.😎
Haha! True true! I should have called that out too
@@NashvilleEarlyBronco it's all good. Keep Em coming buddy! Oh I tore mine too on that corner I struggled on.
Mechanical fuel pump and 2 years
Haha! Nice!
Nashville Early Bronco I may not have a early classic bronco but I love my 85 and all broncos I wanted an early classic but ther to much
