Yes! We are bastards who should not use critical thinking! Also Monty Python obligatory reference : "I'd like to complain about people complaining about things".
Its an Alpha and we'll have time to use Game Pass to try it and keep MSFS 2020 for stability. Asobo's reputation is to deliver on time and incomplete.
My concern after playing with the Alpha is the stuttery nature of it. I have ideal spec - except for the RAM. I'll be curious to see if the Alpha works better with more RAM. For those who fly the same general area, the old cache system is in place and they won't need to deal with internet traffic to get their photogrammetry etc.
Note to those who have X3D processors - its was using eight cores *equally*. At about 50 percent occupancy. That's impressive.
Lastly, cockpit shadows are no longer janky (they were an 8-bit nightmare). They look real now. This may be an RTX-only feature, mind you. Seeing the shadows crawl around the bumps on the Cessna's interior, very nice.

@@FluffyBunnyFeet Agreed. What we need is constructive criticism that highlights the problems. There's always one of those people that gets their little buzz by taking the moral high ground and criticising others' feedback.. it isn’t helpful or necessary.

    • @DaveJ6515
      @DaveJ6515 День тому

Maybe a simple fact escapes you: the only purpose of this tech alpha is to discover hidden bugs and to stress the systems. So they are EXPECTING people to speak up about problems they found. For example, if the game is jerky and a stutterfest, they (and I) will want to know. Understood?
Oh btw ... I have had ALL PC flight simulators that came out since 1979, so I know perfectly well where we are. And I know perfectly well that, before they give us the walkies simulator, the zoo simulator, marine wildlife simulator, and firefighters simulator, what I expect from a FLIGHT simulator is to be smooth, with NO stutters, to have a great flight model, a great ground handling model, no exaggerated ballooning on the runway, nice looking, realistic clouds, and great looking runways and taxiways with appropriate lighting at any time of day and night. I know that we didn't get there with msfs2020, where I can see all the houses where I lived in four different continents, and that's kinda cute, but I still have that stutter on short final which destroys the immersion, and the morphing textures, and the awful clouds, and so on.

Those autogen buildings look terrible. I don't know why they don't use more AI to make Bing Streetside and Maps into 3d. A generative type of AI could get extremely good at filling out missing details and making things look accurate when up-close. Photogrammetry can be very good, but is too expensive to capture for every area on the planet.

Interesting you said this. You probably don't know the backstory but this work was done by Blackshark AI and well they've been blacklisted LOL! It'll be 2025 before I even consider it. This isn't a criticism: I'm just being pragmatic. I've worked in video game dev for 30 years and know that the longer I can wait, the better the build I install will be. And the more third-party add-ons, enhancements, fixes, tweaks etc. will be available, tested and improved.

I don't mind it being an evolution of MSFS 2020 rather than a revolution. Because MSFS 2020 still kicks ass! What I want from this new iteration is better performance, less bugs and good VR support. I agree, don't like the flashy zooming nonsense. It's pretty clear they want it to have this flashy presentation to it, but in the end, it's going to get old pretty quickly. I wish they had focused on the menus being more optimized. So far it seems like they are still as slow as in MSFS 2020.

I think the biggets improvement is to the scenery.. things such as trees, grass, seasonal crops etc really make a difference.Like you say, it's the amalmagation of all these things that make the sim look and feel much better than 2024. The biggest shock will be goin gback to MSFS 2020 after getting used to 2024 :)
Of course it's not perfect, and many features don't work yet (all the AI plane models and liveries, animals, ships, grass, photogrammetry, mesh for specific areas, etc) so there's a lot more to this that we haven't seen yet. But for a first impression this is awesome :)

Not enough people understand what this technical alpha is all about, so let me quote what someone else said:
Many participants of the tech alpha don't seem to get what the point of it all is. It's about the systems and services in the backend as stated by Asobo before AND after the alpha started.
This version is stripped down to the bare minimum for that. It is not for you to check out early how it will look when you get the "final" product.
Most of the procedural/ai stuff like rocks, foliage, grass, fields/crops, basically all the new eye candy as seen in the previews and trailers is NOT implemented in this build. Traffic of any kind is made of generic models.

MSFS have a Forum, where users can log bugs and name there wishes on a 'wish list'.
Asobo put their resources into the most popular bugs and the highest voted wishes.
Unfortunately for GA light aircraft flyers, the wish list is predominately Internation Heavy Jet flyers.
In this arena, the airports used have 'Game flavour' ATC.
In the GA light aircraft arena, who have very few votes on the wish list because most of the users are Heavy Jet flyers, there is no ATC or AFIS at smaller fields.
This has been the situation for four years.
For GA light aircraft flyers, we have to use our imagination or only fly between medium sized fields with ATC.
In REAL Life at small fields, requesting clearance for VFR exists, but not in this sim.
For the 2024 generation of this package, IMHO, comms with the Tower at all fields that IRL have comms, should have been on top of the 'to do' list.
