- I this video I do a quick walk around and mini review of my 2023 Honda CB500F. This is not a full in depth review, I just wanted to mention a few things. Down the track I might do a more structured review and a good vs bad video.

i have never understood the fuss over having a 'fast' bike...especially sharing the road with the public.... keep it fun..keep it safe
There certainly is a point where more power is just pointless on the road. While trying to decide what bike to buy I test rode a Yamaha MT09 and Kawasaki Z900. Both were stupidly fast. Too fast for what I want or need. I knew I'd end up hurting myself doing something silly though. But there was 2 things that were making me consider them. 1 was the taller gearing thanks to having more torque, meaning you didn't have to change gears so much in traffic, and their ability to overtake without dropping gears. You just didn't have to work as hard, even when going slow. The second thing was the noise. I really like the sound of 3 and 4 cylinder bikes.

I have the same bike, same colour..... great little machine and one of the few bikes with a decent sized (17L) tank - which gives a range of nearly 300 miles! I fitted 22mm bar risers as I found I was pitched a bit too far forward - now very comfortable. It's a superb bike for playing on back roads, very responsive and great cornering. I've got other, bigger, bikes, but the little 500 is often the 'go to' bike for a fun ride!
Yeah i really like the 500. I test rode bigger bikes but they weren't as nimble. Smaller bikes really are under rated

it is a lovely bike got one my self. must say is so easy to ride and you can get of pretty quick if you keep letting it pull til 9000rpm ;)

Awesome video mate. I’m curious, did changing the sprocket mess with the speedo at all? Or does the speedo run of the actual wheel speed sensors from the abs?
Thanks mate. Yes, changing the gearing alters the speedo accuracy. With the stock gearing the speedo reads about 5% higher than what you are actually doing (so when it says 100kmh you're actually only doing about 95kmh). But with the 1 tooth bigger front cog it actually reads higher than what you are doing by a tiny amount. When it reads 100kmh you're doing about 101kmh. So it does require a bit more paying attention to the speedo.
I've actually put the stock gearing back on to see what it's like, as i changed the gearing after doing 1000kms then did just over 6000kms with the taller gearing. Going back to stock does feel a bit faster, but to be honest there's not much in it. I did some 0-100 tests with the stock gearing and there's bugger all difference (maybe 0.1 seconds). It is slightly more willing to lift the front wheel on very hard launches, but it's not exactly a wheelie machine either way. I've only done 2 rides with the stock gearing since swapping back.

I've not had the issue. Maybe I'm just a bit slower on the clutch. I grew up riding dirt bikes (my last 2 being 2 stroke mx bikes - a 125 and a 250) and with the power and grip of them, if you were too quick dropping the clutch on them they'd just flip straight out from underneath you
I have the 2020 model , perfect for around town .

It's actually a backpack that i have fed the straps through the cutouts and done them up under the bike. I've got a video about how i did it. The bag itself is about 20L
is there a dirt bike that has twin front discs with ABS? I cant decide if supermoto dirt bike or this.
Not that I'm aware of, but they are much lighter bikes so they don't really need twin front discs. And i don't think any have ABS because it doesn't work very well on dirt, and because you will often be locking up the rear wheel on purpose. Some of the big adventure bikes have it that you can turn off, but they aren't true dirt bikes and definitely not a supermoto.

I had to remove the full screen because it caused unbearable turbulence and noise. I tried different heights. The bike handles perfectly without the screen but has anyone had success with a full screen?
The one thing that is annoying is the position of the horn. Honda should listen to the complaints.
What screen did you have? I'm looking at getting a Givi screen which is relatively small compared to some others.
As for the horn, I've never had an issue with it. I've heard people mention it as a complaint but I've only hit it by accident once in about 4500kms (and that was because i had just shut my visor and was putting my hand back on the bars and cancelling the indicators all in 1 go). On bikes that have the horn below the indicators I actually hit hit by accident more. It must just be how i have my hands (you can see in my videos how I don't really get close to hitting it). I guess because this is the first road bike I've had I'm new to it and just adapted. Hopping onto a different bike now would probably cause me more issues than when i was test riding bikes
@@mad082sss It was a Puig screen the previous owner had installed. It's a tall screen. I liked the look of it but it was a disaster to ride with. It costs around £100. It directed the wind into my helmet and caused excessive noise and turbulence around the handlebars. It would be interesting to see if it works for you. I don't see any CB500Fs now. Before I bought the bike they were everywhere.
I've been riding a very long time and am used to bikes having the horn at the bottom of the controls. I find it easier in an emergency than having to fumble with the other buttons by touch especially with handlebar muffs on. But the muffs keep my hands dry and warmer.
