Jobs for life, and a guaranteed pension better than most, with virtually no ability to be sacked, other than a serious assault on a senior official! Incompetence was promoted and not fired, so we have ended up with a Civil Service full of high ranking incompetents with little to no clue how to run the service, but are expert at passing the buck! They are now far too big and in desperate need of being trimmed to the bone so they can be properly assessed by an independent business efficiency consultants, so all the incompetents can be removed along with the dead wood of which there happens to be a vast amount!

If a baby needs feeding, a mother has to get up and feed the baby, - she can’t send it back for amendment or stage a protest or demand further investigation into why her child is hungry - because she doesn’t agree with hunger in the world and what about other hungry babies? She feeds her baby. That’s serving. We all serve in some capacity. It’s a part of daily life.

Politicians take the blame but the reality is that many of the UK's problems rests with civil servants and council employees who do not work hard enough and are as left as Lenin. The Government needs to jump on this very hard and very fast through the courts if needed. labour will have exactly the same problem assuming they assume power later this year - except it will be worse because the unionised civil servants and council staff will all have their sticky paws out for more cash for less work. The 4 day a week for the same pay as happened in South Cambs anyone?

The FDA isn’t the main union and don’t represent the three lowest pay grades. The majority of the woke / anti-British element of the civil service is senior civil servants often earning £90,000+ dependent on grade / department. The operational civil servants where the rubber hits the road have a similar spread of views as the rest of the population and typically work very hard for modest pay. The lowest two pay bands just had a pay rise purely because the minimum wage increased in April.
The Civil Service is there to do a job, not create them. The vast majority of us accept that.

Oh, has someone noticed that Blair vastly increased the size of the civil Service and those newcomers were anything but impartial? The Tories didn't, or didn't have, the spine or the sense to sack them all. If you wonder why the police are worse than useless, well the guy from the Home office who provides the guidelines for the police is a DEI champion for the civil service.

Well if the home office employees don't agree with parliamentary decision? SACK THEM THEY ARE EMPLOYEES? NOT MINISTERS?
There paid to carry out the tasks that parliamentary give them to act on? The civil service are not allowed to strike, military, police, fire services, doctors, ALL CIVIL SERVANTS ? ALL NOT ALLOWED TO GO ON STRIKE? So why hasnt the home secretary , laid down the law to them, and got a grip of their employees.

It's time to save taxpayers money. Sack 50% of senior management and anyone earning over £100,000. Then allow a selection of taxpayers to evaluate the work being undertaken and sack anyone who is involved in woke, transgender any other non-government work after sacking 35% of all the lower ranks..

Far too easy to blame the lack of zeal and discipline of the executors while the executioners look away towards fictitious sunny uplands and leave the executors to wear the hood and carry the can. We all have a conscience, some of us use it to face up to... while others turn away from... their moral decisions.

The Civil Service more than doubled in Blair's first few years and is nearer 3x as many as 1997. Halving them would save the taxpayer £50bn and I suspect we would not see any change in service.

Civil is shortened for civilian, they serve the PUBLIC and are funded by the PUBLIC, which makes the boss the PEOPLE! The government, is not the boss, the people are! How have we got to the point where no-one even knows these very basic things? The government make policies like any other business do, because they ARE a business! We the people do not have to be governed it is optional!

So you approve of forcing people to break the Law without their consent?
How would you feel if your employer demanded you break the Law and if you don't like it, ship out? That's what is happening here. Understand?
MP's may have immunity from prosecution but Civil Servants do not, and it is they who will do the work. This work (deporting 'immigrants' to Rwanda) could see them being charged by various international Laws such as the UN and the ECHR.
I would say that if a Civil Servant refused to carry out such deportations and they were fired, there would be a very strong case for Constructive Dismissal

One thing that has always been a problem is that no one knows how to implement any actions they dream up to sort out the issues being brought up!!!!
It involves knowledge , skills and experience……. Which as we’ve seen at the public accounts committee……. Is always used as an excuse when people are being held to account
It’s the same reason why employers don’t hire graduates anymore……. They hire those who under took apprenticeships. Not those that have an education that qualifies then to hold positions of power. It’s meaning less……. Just all words with no experience in actually implementing the decisions they make
