I'm going to skip my request for today. This is my favourite classical piece of all time and it really means a lot that you guys covered it. Thanks guys 💖
this has always been one of my favorite movements from this piece. Any time I want to relax and unwind after a stressful point in life I always turn to Venus
The most gentle, calm, innocent and pacifying movement from all! A really unique sound for Venus. Incredibly beautiful arrangement, as always :) It feels like Jupiter would be something really great)
In fairness, the scores were based off astrology, not strictly history and Roman/Greek mythology. However, I'm not really 100% sure that astrology emphasizes peace either...
I could physically feel the dopamine rising in my whilst listening to this, something about it on piano just seems so right. It made me feel love and joy and peace. Thank you SMB.
this song has a special place in my heart. i first heard part of it in a film as a young child (curse of the wererabbit lmao) and it stuck with me. i had listened to it a few times really amazed by it. i have it on record, it was one of the first records i ever bought and one of the oldest in my collection. found it in a charity shop that's closed now, beautiful recording of it. i only began to truly appreciate the song's make-up when i started learning it on piano. i began just before covid, that all disrupted me and i started again later in the year. took about a month or so, really proud of myself. its a different arrangement to this. has a really hard left-handed arpeggio section but i manage. its my favourite thing ever and just exerts this magical energy i adore so much. thank you for this rendition
I am playing the celesta during this piece in my concert Saturday, it’s my first piece I have ever learned on the celesta. I love the ending of this piece, the arpeggio runs feel so calming, and so beautiful
I just wanna day that I love your vids and they have helped me through the pandemic. I participate in lots of musical related activities but they were all canceled so you bring so much joy to my life. Thanks for being awesome
Fun Fact: Sliced bread was first manufactured by machine and sold in the 1920s by the Chillicothe Baking Company in Missouri. It was the greatest thing since…unsliced bread?? Any other ideas?
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR DOING THIS AHHHH!!!! Literally one of my favorite places of classical music ever. It’s so relaxing and I think it’s incredible how Holst uses dissonant chords to create such beauty and tranquility without relying on simple major triads too much. Can’t wait til you do Saturn and Neptune!
Its great to see how for youve come as a viewer , your gralhics are incredible now its almost like im there , this is my fav piece and have been watching for 2 years , hopefully you do more classical pieces in the future , love , x
The motif that first shows up at 2:13 sounds very very similar to the main motif of “Married Life” from Up, which is the famous love theme. Venus was the goddess of love and beauty in Roman mythology. In other words, Michael Giacchino is an absolute genius. Also fantastic arrangement btw I’m excited to see the rest of the suite!
I love that you guys have kept doing classical music as well. I love all your content because I can get a mix of all these different genres, and I think you guys are doing a great job. WTC and the Planets Suite are amazing and you've arranged and performed them beautifully
Well, Holst really made this during the time of WWI, when death was practically known to everyone. So he chose a peaceful work for Venus to contrast that of the war-ready and patriotic works of his like Mars and Jupiter respectively
Thank you so much for the songs so far and you have become my inspiration for me and I decided to take piano lessons. Thank you so much. Hats off to you!
When I was record album shopping @ a Milwaukee WI Peaches store in 1976,or 1977, and heard Isao Tomita's synthesizer version,I had to buy the album, and, later his other versions, such as The Engulfed Cathedral.Music that is,truly, timeless.
At first, I wasn't sure about removing the first section of 16th note runs in/near the last section of the song..... But I now like this version better. Nice work!
The music is so cute and great! I will be listening 🎧 to it even after 2027 and I will save it to my favourite page and it will be on the list of my favourite musics as well! Congratulations 👏
I happen to be composing an orchestral suite myself inspired by this suite that Holst composed. But instead of being based on mythology and astrology as Holst's is, mine is based on astronomy, so this kind of icy peace, almost melancholy sound(the beginning is especially melancholic, what with moving up the F minor scale), is more akin to what my Mars movement would be like and same for Holst's Mars movement being akin to my Venus movement(sonically massive(even though orchestrationally, Earth has a larger orchestra than Venus and Jupiter larger still in my suite), dissonant, Alla Marcia, Harmonic climax of the piece). I'm currently composing the Mercury movement, which mine and Holst's are similar in ways(6/8 time signature, fast tempo, rhythmically complex, flats vs sharps contrast, relatively small orchestra) but different in others(the level of the key contrast differs, in Holst it's by instrument, in mine, it's basically a large, non-repeating binary form, mine also has a rhythmic polyphony to a level that's not found in Holst)
“The Planets” is one of my favorite classical works of all time, partially because it’s one of the only ones that uses my main instrument (euphonium), and it means a lot to me that y’all are putting out these arrangements. Could you please do “Arbetlose Marsch” or “Mother Anarchy Loves Her Sons”? Thanks
I would like to request Intermission by Blur. The piano is great in that song and is one of my favorites. Also I have never heard of what you covered in this video but it is amazing so thank you for introducing me to this!
When you've done them all, you should upload the full suite as one video. It would be nice to be able to play it without the SMB theme between the movements.
Thanks for doing some of Gustav Holst's pieces! I'm proud to be biologically (distantly) related to him! I had a single request for a song, to only do if either of you want to, could you please do the Requiem by Verdi, not Mozart, Verdi. It is an epic piece, epic like how this channel is so awesome! Keep up the great work SMB!
I would be forever grateful if you guys did "One For My Baby, And One More For The Road" in the slow, relaxed style of Frank Sinatra and his accompanist Bill Miller, if you could work the vocal lines in with the piano breaks in-between. There are no decent, accurate transcriptions of this sublime piece of music history and I know you guys can pull it off beautifully. Thanks so much for everything you do, regardless.

This was one of my favorites when we practiced the planets. I was a percussionist so I could sit down and read a book with nice calm music
Lol
Lmao
And little tone of Minecraft
And tubist could go for a nap or two
Cool 😂

Yaaaaay more Holst! Here's hoping you do all the planets!
Who else is exited as I am for the 2,000,000 note special
Also congrats on 2 mill some of the best content
We are so excited to release it!
"exited"
Did they already do jupiter? If not, jupiter would be cool.
Only Mars and Venus
No they have not done jupiter yet, which made me believe that they will probably do the planets in the correct order in the suite
Soon...
I was just about to ask this
Not yet. But imo, Jupiter is easily the best one
It’s starting to look like you’re doing the entire Planets suite....
I’m not complaining
YESSS MORE HOLST
The most gentle, calm, innocent and pacifying movement from all! A really unique sound for Venus. Incredibly beautiful arrangement, as always :)
It feels like Jupiter would be something really great)
I’m so glad they did this, Venus is my favorite piece in this arrangement!
Venus is one of a kind, such a pleasure to play on piano
Considering Venus is the Roman version of Aphrodite, it's funny that Venus is the bringer of peace.
Lol. True
In fairness, the scores were based off astrology, not strictly history and Roman/Greek mythology. However, I'm not really 100% sure that astrology emphasizes peace either...

I’d love if you did First Suite in E flat, also by Holst. It’s a beautiful piece, and I’d like to see it on piano.
Beautiful.
There’s no other word to describe it
a new piece that I'm am now going to fully explore, thank you SMB! :D

First or second suite would be awesome. Great video love Gustav Holst
Loving the particle effects on those notes :) PLEASE use them on more of your videos, makes them that extra bit awesome!!
The difference in dates of daylight savings has foiled my plans to be early...
Such serene music for a planet whose surface is the closest thing we've found to Hell.
Yeah this is probably the one that works best on piano. Getting Debussy vibes from some of these techniques used. Great
This might be the best music channel on UA-cam, to be completely honest. Keep up the great work!
It's Ironic... Venus got the most beautiful and calming music, yet the planet itself is a super-hot pressure-cooker hellscape.
Well, Holst really made this during the time of WWI, when death was practically known to everyone. So he chose a peaceful work for Venus to contrast that of the war-ready and patriotic works of his like Mars and Jupiter respectively
If I may, I would like to request Grainger’s “Shepherd’s Hey”.
Children of the March
Shepherd is my nickname lol
Elegance unrivaled, humble and amazing, great work.
I love how this piece is (mostly) written in Eb major, yet we don't even get an Eb major chord until about 6 minutes in, and even that is inverted.
Really excited for Uranus and Jupiter!! Keep up with your great work
This is a beautiful piece of art I loved it I don't know what it is about it that leaves my heart at ease . It is simply breath taking .
absolute favorite from holst. love the video so much
YES. You should do "Jupiter" from The Planets. So epic.
Those first three notes really sound like the intro to the Star Wars the force score.
Thank you so much for the songs so far and you have become my inspiration for me and I decided to take piano lessons. Thank you so much. Hats off to you!
oooooooo, my marching band played this for our 2019-2020 school year
People stop asking for a specific movement, SMB has already said they're doing all of them, in the order that they are played in the suite.
When I was record album shopping @ a Milwaukee WI Peaches store in 1976,or 1977, and heard Isao Tomita's synthesizer version,I had to buy the album, and, later his other versions, such as The Engulfed Cathedral.Music that is,truly, timeless.
If SMB is doing them all in order, everybody's going to go crazy before it's Jupiter's turn.
At first, I wasn't sure about removing the first section of 16th note runs in/near the last section of the song..... But I now like this version better. Nice work!
