    this is a great tutorial thanks! i used it when prepping to lighten my cousin's hair. one thing to mention for anyone doing this: when you saturate the ends, make sure to lift up the hair piece to look at the back/bottom side and make sure you don't have a harsh line there (blend it with the V shape like you would on the front/top side)!! very important! i didn't do this the first time so there were a few pieces with a harsh line and couldnt figure out why initially!

    Great results! Next time I recommend taking the center of the V shape you painted and making it slightly deeper so you have more of the natural dark color to contrast with the highlights. BTW you should really go into hairdressing ^^ I've seen too many "pros" (so they call themselves) that have worked in the industry for 20 years and still failed at balayage.

    Wow, what a fantastic job you did!!! You did a better job then most salon professionals I have seen :-) I have natural dark brown to black here due to my ethnic background, and had in the past bleached my hair to do exactly that, but of course, never came out that way, and in return had damaged my hair to no end. I since waited a couple of yrs to get my hair texture back to soft and manageable state :-) I also decided to give it a try again with the tape in hair method in the Balayage Dark brown and caramel instead of trying to bleach dark hair .. which I am excited. will also keep a shorter look so I can fit my hair under my show wigs :-) cant wait to see the color and the result Tuesday!!! Keep doing what your doing sweetie, you are awesome !!!!

    These results look awesome! Do you think you could just bleach and then tone using something like T14 or T18 instead of using the demi permanent colour in 8A?

    I have a very similar hair color and I have been dying to do this to my hair! My question for you and any professionals-if you’re fortunate to have your hair turn out THIS amazing, but you want to add a little more blonde, what is the best way to do that? My hair always turns out caramelly and honey colored, but I’d like more blonde to be evident. Any tips?? This is amazing and the instructions were so clear! I’ll let you know how it turns out!

    Great video, would love to see more of these. Maybe some for a more subtle look. I have a fair amount of grey coming in, and that means when my roots grow out its grey and a dark flat brown, maybe you could demonstrate a way to deal with this? Many thanks from Toronto Ontario!

    This is beautiful!! Much better than a lot of my professional color experiences. This may be a silly question, but is that the "bleach" you're balayaging into her hair? Then you follow with color? Or do you mix it all together? I'm trying to correct my hair via diy

    Hello, I was wondering why you chose to apply an ash hair color instead of a toner? (I've seen it done both ways) Your vid has been super helpful as I prepare to dye my hair, your results were perfect!

    • @somegirljesskent
      @somegirljesskent  7 років тому +12

      Ash colour did tone down her hair :) - I think there's a misconception about "toners" vs. "Toning" - you can tone hair with normal hair colours by using the same rules. There are just many products out there that are marketed as "toners" but actually many salons use demi permanent hair colours to tone hair.

      somegirljess Okay, thanks for replying! If I do highlights, how should I apply the demi permanent color? I have naturally black hair and I'm using bleach to create the highlights, can I apply it all over or do I need to somehow avoid the black parts? Also, should I use an ash color like in this video or a gray/silver like you used in another video?

    • @somegirljesskent
      @somegirljesskent  7 років тому +13

      You should focus the colour on just the lightened parts, but if you're only using a demi with 10 volume developer, it should be okay if you happen to get it on your hair. If you want to be extra careful, there is 5 volume developer available (it's just hard to come by). The brand blonde Brilliance has it at Sally's. And I would use something like 6A or 7A (of course this depends on what level your hair turns out after bleaching). Don't use the silver/grey technique because that's just to refresh hair and it's very temporary. Watch my Toning Hair for Beginners video for more detail on hair levels and toners :)
