Hey thanks for watching! Here I've combined punching concepts from Chinese kung fu and western boxing. So kung fu people will say I'm doing it wrong and boxers will say I'm doing it wrong because training methods differ for both paths. Some of these are only training "exercises" and NOT fighting techniques, and should be trained PRIOR to actually punching someone in a fight. Much like how you do pushups to get stronger muscles BEFORE a fight, you do the "bucket lifting" exercise (more of a MENTAL exercise, less of a physical exercise) before you fight. Doing these exercises and practicing your technique consistently and properly will gradually increase your punching power and you will be able to access this power at any time because it will become part of you. Questions / comments are welcome :)
The point of the video was to show how to punch “harder” he was wrong about some of the stuff he said but it’s not how to block someone it’s how to punch someone “harder”.
With all of the “do this one technique to win a fight” videos out there it’s refreshing to see real fundamentals being taught and you teach them very well!
This was actually a great tutorial. I've boxed for over 20 years and was curious as to why this video had over 5 million hits. Everything he said was true and his explanations and examples were excellent. I subscribed after watching this, because I know for a fact that he DOES KNOW what he's talking about. Good job!
Correct Triple 8... In a fight that starts as quickly as it ends, you think you're going to have time to plant yourself? There's no squaring off in street fighting. Almost never happens. When I used to teach, my motto was... Strike First, Strike Fast, strike hard, once your opponent has invaded your space. There is no time to figure out what a street thug is going to do, and there is no fair play in a street fight. Match your opponents mentality, never hesitate or pause or try to reason. That will only get you seriously humiliated, injured, or killed. Your main goal is to instantly eliminate the threat and get yourself and your family to safety as quickly as possible.
Apollo Saint Surya because he really have no clue and he don't look like he can punch his self. that bob didn't even have that much water and he push punched. im it. im 6'1 160 and can really punch. i hurt some heavyweights in the gym and alot of guys my weight or weight class up can't take my power, depending on the level of the boxer. you are born a puncher. i hit harder then my friend who started boxing at the same time as me and he's 30 pounds bigger
Great tips Bro. I'm a combat vet and was in Iraq when we caught Saddam back in '03. Congratulations, you just taught an actual warrior something new about the world of violent confrontation. Keep up the good work.
Respect. Nice beginner tips. 1. Weight Centre 2. Momentum 3. Contracting the shoulder belt 4. Punch through your target, do not stop the force. Advanced things to consider for people who feel comfortable with the above 1. Twisting various parts in the body in a cascade for a drill effect. (Front of the foot, heel, ankle, shin, knee, thigh, hip, pelvis, shoulder, upper and lower arm, wrist) 2. Open fist expansion. (You imagine you're holding a rubber ball in your palm that pushes your grip outwards while you contract your grip at the same time) 3. The free fall effect. (When you exercise momentum you also allow vertical gravity to fully affect you so that your momentum also gains your natural gravitation) 4. Counterforce (Upon impact when you feel the force expand through your target you pull back to create a vacuum of sorts with your strike.) 1-2 are intermediate, the other 2 I've only seen people with 30-40+ years of experience begin to grasp. Working on those myself.
As an instructor, I say well done! You've provided the essential elements for anyone to develop more power in their punches. As a 150 pounder it's one of the first things I wanted to know when I started. It's a truly devastating thing to be punched "through" . And it's something we can all learn to do regardless of body build. Cheers
in a fight you should always try to aim for the liver no mater how hard you punch they will go down in pain if you punch hard enough they might even take a little nap
Kim Brunson Do you have any tips for opening someone up for actually landing that hit? They always seem to have their left side towards me, (or squared with their arms in the way). I've heard it's very effective but I'd like to know how to actually hit it. -Thanks in advance
This is how I punch but it's been more than 30 years ago, I need to train again. I watched quite a few self defense videos from other very good channels but this one is the only one that I subscribed without even finish watching the whole video. I just felt this channel is worth my subscription. Thanks for the videos.

okay I didn't watch the entire video. But I did see what I wanted to right in the beginning when you are hitting Bob. Anyone who disagrees just doesn't fully understand where you're coming from or what you mean by follow through. My brother always taught me, metaphorically of course. To imagine a target behind your opponent. Directly behind your opponents head, body etc. You're trying to strike through your opponent and hit that imaginary target as hard as you can. Follow through with every punch pivot your hips and retract your hands back to your jaw an eye keep your hands up at all times and elbows tucked in. there's so much more to throwing a punch than the every day person makes it out to be. i was taught foot movements before i was even able to learn any type of strike, kicks or submissions.
Jordan Peat that is so funny. my older brother literally always taught me the same thing about imagining a target behind your opponents body. and I've been wanting to try the hips movement thing when punching.
Jordan Peat Turning your hips and your legs when throwing hooks right hands and uppercut makes you hit with full force. I didnt have a borther to teach me i just box
Yeah, it's a common misconception that's been spread over the decades. This is why you have been corrected in this video to aim for the back of the opponents head or as this guy says, about 6-8 inches behind the target. Aiming for something behind the target is just dumb, your body knows it can't reach that far and it behaves accordingly. Anyway, if you want to knockout somebody, the punch has to glance the opponents jaw, not smash into it. You best start your training from scratch.
Completely agree and someone commented about striking to the back of the head. Instead of following through I do know this. The other way was just how I was taught ty for trying to help tho.
I don't know what your channel is about as this is the first video I've stumbled upon, but you sir have gained another subscription and a fan. I don't know anything about this kind of stuff, but this was really inspiring. I thought people had to be massive to deliver a strong punch, and since I'm really small for my age, I didn't think I could ever do something like this. Thank you for the excellent video!
i have lerned it in Wing Chun differently :/ My teacher always said that we have to -have a perpendicular Fist not a horizontally -have a relaxed body and fist (by punching to but in the last second we have to have a clenched fist) -have our weights on our back leg not in the front or both -have everytime the "Iras" by the defend and beginning of the attack(its the basic defending stand) -have one leg to the front without weight so it´s "free" -have one leg to the back with "all" weight so you have a stronge balance -one arm to the fron and one next to is elbow (fist or streight palm) -etc and for a hard punch have we some different punch but the one for beginner is to punch (with an relaxed fist from your solar plexus to the target ) and if you touching the other body you should do a step forward and wrist "downwards" so the punch is drill in the body of the target and he should be down (if not you have to make chains punches to his face because he would actually a litlle bit destroyed in his body cause its a inside punch) from who did u learn wing chun? becuase it looks a litlle bit like the old wing chun not the new btw im learning now wing chun 3 years and im rank 8 and if you doesnt mean that this punch is wing chun style im sorry to write sth like this :// good luck and train hard to get stronger or getting more followers :)
gojart destani The point is that if you balance your weight on both legs one little kick to the leg could easily throw you down, if you don't put any weight on the leg facing the oponent he can't throw you down by kicking your leg.
10 kilometer runs a day 100 push ups a day 100 sit-ups a day 100 squats a day 3 meals a day a banana will do for breakfast no ac when it is hot or cold
For what I see the punch looks weak the dummy is heavy and the distance is short little movement because it was close range but i feel there is a big force behind that and some dont see it. Some punches looks weak but when they hit you the pain is more into what it looks like.
Yeah he doesn't make the mistake that most people make when punching, He doesn't pull his punch. Watch how long he keeps his arm extended at his Target. Most people hold their arm back into a fighting stance as soon as their hand makes contact.
I learned so much from observating your movements. I've been here before but I don't understand what you are saying at all. So I hone my skills and now I came back I learned so much. You stop while steeping it and shift many of your weight to your left foot. You pivot to bring those weight up and it's like a chain reaction that when you pivot your foot so does your knees, hips and shoulder then finally shoot out your cross. So its like a chain motion. And when done in greater speed there are greater power. Not to mention that alignment is a must. You can easily break your wrist if not careful when striking with this much force.
@@prime_creator5345 Many thanks. You're right, it was tauted as a one inch punch. But there are manuals and videos on the technique, tauting a 1 to 6 inch punch. Many years ago, I purchased a green paperback on the punch; it was probably only 20 pages long with about 10 photos. I was never able to get such power from one inch, but some have achieved this level. Thanks again.
Train Deadlifts, cleans, KB swings and medicine ball throws and you will develop the proper neurological pathways to punch with full body power naturally.
Thank you. I did not know about the water bucket method or the expansion / contraction method (is that from Tai Chi?). The others I already knew. Great tips.

-have our weights on our back leg not in the front or both
-have everytime the "Iras" by the defend and beginning of the attack(its the basic defending stand)
-have one leg to the front without weight so it´s "free"
-have one leg to the back with "all" weight so you have a stronge balance
-one arm to the fron and one next to is elbow (fist or streight palm)
-etc
and for a hard punch have we some different punch but the one for beginner is to punch (with an relaxed fist from your solar plexus to the target ) and if you touching the other body you should do a step forward and wrist "downwards" so the punch is drill in the body of the target and he should be down (if not you have to make chains punches to his face because he would actually a litlle bit destroyed in his body cause its a inside punch)
from who did u learn wing chun? becuase it looks a litlle bit like the old wing chun not the new
btw im learning now wing chun 3 years and im rank 8
and if you doesnt mean that this punch is wing chun style im sorry to write sth like this ://
good luck and train hard to get stronger or getting more followers :)
sorry for the bad english xD
Cuong Dang not trying to be rude but... Ain't nobody got time to read dat
I agree with you, my sifu taught me something far different from what this guy is showing, his stance for instance is anything but wing-chun
have one leg free ? meaning one leg is forward and someone could just kick your other weighted leg and youre done
gojart destani The point is that if you balance your weight on both legs one little kick to the leg could easily throw you down, if you don't put any weight on the leg facing the oponent he can't throw you down by kicking your leg.
Iam not strong but i learn how to punch harder from this video
Hmmmmm.

ONE PUNCH MAN
Me: punches and showed my wife what I learned
Wife: ( laughs )
Me: SMH*
Me getting into a fight after watching this video : "Forgets Everything"
Then calling for backup : " Dad this guy has hit me, please come and help "
Thanks now i can fightback with bullies..
For what I see the punch looks weak the dummy is heavy and the distance is short little movement because it was close range but i feel there is a big force behind that and some dont see it. Some punches looks weak but when they hit you the pain is more into what it looks like.
Spacebar Hater it looks pretty strong to me. look at the snap
Yeah he doesn't make the mistake that most people make when punching, He doesn't pull his punch. Watch how long he keeps his arm extended at his Target. Most people hold their arm back into a fighting stance as soon as their hand makes contact.
I learned to punch here and hell I've been dropping every trouble. Thanks man, knowing you can drop a trouble grows discipline and confident.
thanks, ill try it out
This was a very informative, well done video. Thank you for posting it.
Can you please do a tutorial on how to hide a body next?
I won a fight at school

Seddell Seddell I know that good feeling
I won a school fight and now I’m gonna get in another so wish me luck
Well how was it?
did you win lmao
Wazku FN yes 🥶just have a busted lip
Was it from trash talking, and does the lunch lady still give you the dessert portion after you punched her out?
Trash talker I bet you got knocked out and you were like this 😴
I learned so much from observating your movements.
Trying to be one puch man •-• watch out in 3 years fellows
Bruh
very thorough like your teaching style.thank you.
It’s fascinating how fighting is more than just power there’s technique and chi like magic
Next video.
After punch, how to be protected?
Damn xD
Excellent video. The technique is somewhat reminiscent of Bruce Lee's so-called 5 inch punch.
Robert Schlesinger it’s called the 1 inch punch
@@prime_creator5345 Many thanks. You're right, it was tauted as a one inch punch. But there are manuals and videos on the technique, tauting a 1 to 6 inch punch. Many years ago, I purchased a green paperback on the punch; it was probably only 20 pages long with about 10 photos. I was never able to get such power from one inch, but some have achieved this level. Thanks again.
I told a guy I was irritated. He didn't believe me. So I made him believe me, 😏😏😏😏 thanks for your techniques.
Train Deadlifts, cleans, KB swings and medicine ball throws and you will develop the proper neurological pathways to punch with full body power naturally.
Life Glow Fitness Inc true
Thank you. I did not know about the water bucket method or the expansion / contraction method (is that from Tai Chi?). The others I already knew. Great tips.
Yeah, some tai chi and basic kung fu theory.
+Wing Chun Kid - Tai Chi JKD Kung Fu Sweet. Thank you for the swift reply especially this time if the day. It is 06:47 in Holland must be about midnight or a bit earlier with you?
+Wing Chun Kid - Tai Chi JKD Kung Fu There is another method to help with punching power and that is proper nutrition which many people neglect.
go fucking start boxin, there you ll see some really stuf, how to throw a good punch
Dude you're god damn right!
From what I've known, you can get more force if the distance is shorter, it won't do as much damage but it'll do much more force that you can push the sand bag even further.
Your pushing the bag dude
can you use that to break a door?
Yea but door is not gonna be the only thing to break, *Your Fingers*
lmao xD
Yes. I did that once. Splintered the jamb, two bones in my hand and split the skin off three knuckles.
@@royponpon1755 That sounds painful
@@soltvn it wasn't at the time because I was ticked off. A certain individual had locked the door and put their back against it telling me I'd have to go through them to get through the door. They lost their nerve and bowl control when the door fell into the room after one blow and quickly stepped aside.
Can I just say that I came here because I was being bullied and I dropped him thanks to this video I really appreciate it very much
Thanks! My brother fell asleep after I punched him and he’s still sleeping
Lol
