This came at just the right time. Been looking at it, watching the changes, gears-a-turning trying to figure out what was going on. Too much nitrogen? Not enough nitrogen? Do I add green effect for some zinc and mag?! 1) I planted your turf late September, later than planned. 2) frost and cold temps hit 3) lots of rain All we've experienced here in the PNW. All of my neighbors are watching my renovation closely... I'm expecting questions; thank you for the answers. As always.
I have had a tall fescue lawn in eastern Massachusetts for almost 20 years. It always turns more yellow in winter than my neighbors lawns which are primarily Kentucky bluegrass. Still love this grass variety because I don't have to water in the summer most years in my location.
Glad you did this video!! I been in panic mode for about 10 days with the same issues. I threw down some green effect and micros anyway because I couldn't look at em sitting in the garage anymore. Lol
So glad you posted this cause I renovated my yard this fall and it's still thin and its turning yellow just like that spot you showed and i was worried about mine because i didn't want all that work to go to waste
Awesome video again Pete! This will put alot of minds at ease. Personally I just put down some Milorganite yesterday here in Illinois since it's a "low n slow" fertilizer, that way the yard has a little something to snack on as it lays around in the cold winter months getting a beached body😂. Still can't wait for spring though so I can wake it up n kick it into shape for the upcoming 2019 season, she's gonna flex her stuff again this year💪👊. Thanks again for your dedication and helpful words of wisdom to all of us that continue to follow and absorb your vast amount of knowledge. God bless you and your family. 🇺🇸🕇👊🕆🇺🇸
My Reno done this back in nov/dec , thought it was fungus nope… it needed food, I didn’t catch it in time lots of loss but it has made a 360 from what it looked like in Mid March.
My TTTF I did in Oct is just now really getting that yellow patches. It's cooled way off now in SE KS now but I put the 10-0-19 down about two weeks ago and yellow just keeps coming. I have the 18-0-1 Greenpunch I could spray down on it but don't know if it would help this late? What did you have to put down to feed your lawn and how much? If you don't mind me asking?
Thanks for the prayers brother. 2019 is gonna be great. I cant wait. Love the videos. I'm in turf management in Oklahoma. Small business. Been blessed.
My yard need greened up last yr... so i put on malorginite..?? never put it on before 2 wks later blueish gray webs mostly visible at night with heavy dew. Looked like mold or fungus? Then mushroom everywhere then rust patches everywhere then lots of yellowing in the stems.?? Normally use ironite... did milo
Great timing on this video Pete. I was about to throw down some fungicide worried about rust. By the way if you wanted us to chase snakes with hair dryers we probably would. Lol
Here in North Georgia with you buddy! I Started putting out some fescue this year and it just blows bermuda lawns away even in Summer if you manage it right haha.
Hey Pete, man I would take your grass or your neighbors grass compared to mine. It was a good topic about the yellowing grass because, after working on this grass spring, summer and fall and you see something happening with the grass, the panic sets in...lol. But your videos help to let us know it's normal or why it's happening. The "Build-A-Box" idea is a very good idea. I was just in my garage few days ago checking stock on my NEXT products and what I need. I.m getting ready to install a irrigation system in a week or so. Gonna be a three person job, Me,Myself and I. Trying to get my irrigation set before doing a over seeding . It's not acresbut 7500 ft no joke when you're solo and no Ventrac, "Hey Pete, need to rent ya Ventrac for a weekend".....lol. Funny thing as I was telling my wife I was gonna be ordering some Next Products from Pete and to add it in the budget and she replied to me" I hope Pete is gonna come down to Florida and make sure you use those products correctly." You gotta love them...lol
Pete you make great videos, I’ll be placing another order soon for some Green Punch for this year. We love your analogies regardless if you think they are stupid, they make my wife smile and laugh while I watch your videos. My lawn needs to be left alone till spring just as you say unlike some crazy guy in Utah who’s spraying “Super Juice” to paint it green. :) Have a great day brother, nice shirt btw.
Hey Pete.... I've got quite a bit of new crab grass coming up in the baby gci turf. I believe you mentioned in a previous video that you are leaving them for now as the cold temps will take care of it till spring pre emergent. Is that correct?
Hey Pete, I need your wisdom. I misread the directions for my Certainty. Kyllinga - instead of 3 small scoops per 2 gal/1000sq ft, I only used 1 for a blanket app. Do I need to wait to add 2 more? I hope to apply Prodiamine in a few weeks also. Hope you can answer.
Pete. Thanks for all the great content. I love your videos. Quick question I’m dying to ask you. I’m in Chatlotte and have Clover starting to overtake my tall Fescue. Can I spray this time of year if temps are in 50s or 60s. Thanks for your quick response.
Hi Pete - thanks for this video. A lot of us in the southeast had to seed late due to the wet fall. Will you be doing updates on that particular reno come spring time? I think a lot of us (myself included) could use your advice come spring time to jump start a weak renovated lawn like that. Any suggestions to push root growth in clay soil come spring time? Most N-P-K starter ferts here in Tennessee have just as much N as they do P. Do you recommend any products or ferts with a lower N and higher P? Thank you as always for your advice!
@@kleco1000 In my case, the main issue was that I burned the grass with weed killer. I did have an issue with grass turning yellow from too much water though. The fungus eventually went away.
What zone are you in? Your brown may be grass that is dormant grass mixed in your lawn Bermuda, Zoysia, or other centipede type grass. Even if that is not the particular cultivar that you have planted in your lawn. Let us know what area you are in.
It must be fairly warm in NC for you to be comfortable walking around your yard in a T-shirt on January 1st. Lucky you! Nice video, Pete, and I can't wait for the new season to begin. :-) Pete, I can imagine what it is, but could you do a video on laser grading a yard? I have several bumps in my yard and I would like to make it smoother and leveler. What exactly is laser grading and how do I accomplish that in my yard?
It was in upper 60's this week. The cold spells here in N.C are short and nothing like I have seen as I have been to every state in the lower 48. God bless you and yours.
When I see something in the yard I am quick to search on UA-cam. First thing that comes up is GCI Turf! Thanks for putting out videos! ❤👍
Had 2 calls last week as well about yellowing. Figured all rain and maybe some leaching. Excited to see the gci warm turf program as well!!

You are correct on the rainfall. It was just a tad over 64" !!! Next closest year on record was 2003!

why wont you state the grass problem and the solution to fix it?
Great to hear from you Pete
