However, because he knows how corrupt Heaven really is, he decides to jump down and reject godhood before becoming a ghost instead. Also, yes, the person they say jumped down from Heaven was Hua Cheng.
Mhm I love the ending honestly Jun Wu had such a great character arc and he rlly came around on Hua Cheng in the end. Also Jun Wu and Xie Lian's relationship is so wholesome and you can rlly see how much Jun Wu cared for and saw himself in Xie Lian and wanted to help him follow the right path. Just completely wholesome friendship

I actually wanna despute the "Xie Lian cannot cook" thing with the fandom. We know from Book 4 (*sobs*) that his MOTHER cannot cook. At all. To the point Xie Lian loses his temper and asks why she can't learn and cook already. I think it even meantions in passing that Xie Lian can cook basic items. When the er... events surounding Ryoue's creation happen, that is when he begins to cook poorly;. So I think he CAN cook. But he does so poorly on purpose to remember her mom.
Yes! This is something that I don't see people talking about too much on the fandom. For me it became a joke of "Jajaja, Xie Lian can't cook" to a "...Oh, that's why..." in just one book. I think that when he was younger he can cook good, but after so many years of him trying to copy his mothers dishes (even naming the dishes T_T the same way his mothers did), he can't cook normally again, now he does it unconsciously.
I thought his cooking becomes terrible because of his good luck being sealed by the second cursed shackle. And then he starts naming the dishes in his mother's honor.

(spoilers below). 1) Xie Lian would literally disappear from existence because gods can’t worship other gods, Xie Lian is Hua Cheng’s entire reason for living and Hua Cheng at the time was his ONLY believer. 2) Hua Cheng legit jumped down from heaven not a second after ascending so that he could stay and keep Xie Lian alive, why would he want to be stuck living in the corrupt heavenly realm when he has an entire empire that he built up over 800 years in ghost city and so much money that they could have anything they wanted on the mortal realm. And 3) most of the heavenly officials are annoying and stuck up or just have some sort of evil agenda why would they want to have to deal with them as neighbors every day when in ghost city everyone either loves/respects or fears Hua Cheng and therefore HAS to treat Xie Lian nicely or Hua Cheng will get mad at them/erase them from existence
