This is like, unbelievably good. I always have a hard time seeing Kims as mothers because, well, this role is usually played by actual young women that on top of that, look even younger. But she really feels like a mother despite being so young + not being in costume/with a child to sing it too
I witnessed her last night at the Opening Night of Miss Saigon at Pantages here in LA. She is amazing. All of them actually esp Red Concepcion as Engineer.
Saw it twice at Pantages. Went to the closing night. Then saw it again at Segerstrom last Sunday. Closing night at Pantages, though, cast held back a bit in first half, then went full force in the second. It was a little underwhelming.
Eliza Schuyler - I’m not saying it was bad, and, no, I don’t think it was a bad night (they’re professionals), they held back their performance in the first half, but they went all out in the second half, performers do this sometimes - for whatever reason. I’m just pointing out that I wanted to be moved as much as I did the previous week. I saw the show two different nights in Hollywood, the first night was totally fine. It was great.

I've seen Miss Saigon in 1991 on Broadway and last night at the Pantages in Los Angeles. I wasn't a great fan of this show . Last evening Miss Bautista completely changed my mind . The supporting cast is fantastic but this girl is a marvel!
Just saw her live in Boston. I've probably seen 10 different Kims, including Lea a few times.......Emily is right there with Lea Salonga IMO. She brings a very differnt vibe to the role that I absolutely loved. Emily is a true show stopper. Well done!

I agree with you 100%. Lea is the most beautiful and she still looks young and beautiful although she's much older than the other singers who played KIm. She also possesses very mellifluous and melodious voice that is very pleasant to the ears. Her advantage over other singers is her impeccable diction and enunciation and apt interpretation of the message imparted by the song she sings. All of them excel in their craft and are very good. They wouldn't have been chosen if they are not. Each has unique qualities of their own that make us admire them and appreciate their performance.

Actually Eva did. Yes Lea is amazing but since the path of acting lessons and voice lessons is improving every year. Eva's training is more interesting than Lea so we can tell they have a huge difference... anyways Eva killed it. But no one can replace Lea for being the original one.
