I agree 100 % on either staying off social media or very carefully curating your feed. I only follow a few planner vloggers now that I trust to give unbiased reviews. My current expensive planner was on sale and it started falling apart on me recently (like literally last night) so I went and got a ring binder from Hobby Lobby on sale this morning, and I am going to take the rest of it off the binding, and then trim and hole punch it because I love the layout still. Crossing fingers this works enough to get me through December.

When I found myself in a really busy season of life with a 15 year old in university and my other son leaving on a mission, I really allowed myself to live in the moment and gave myself some grace. Then when things calmed down, I went back and wrote down all the things I had done on those days. I even added photos if I had them. No stress and no blank pages; just memories 🥰

Muting social media accounts that tend to give me a feeling of FOMO and following unbiased reviews (like you) have been extremely helpful. I like the tips about using a notebook or editing my current planner.

This was so timely!! I always have the urge to switch when I'm very stressed. I had to tell myself to breathe and give myself time to get used to my newer planners. Constantly transferring info over and over is a good deterrent too 😂
I also never toss my unfinished planners. I go back to them when I just need something different for a while.

You are smart to keep those old planners! And so true about having the urge to switch when stressed or with a newer planner!

Thank you for this I loved it! My go to solution when my planner "not seem to be enough" is taking an A4 paper and folding it once. I stick it in the current spread and use it for whatever needed.
I solve many problems with sticky notes.
Thank you for always keeping realistic wirh your feet on the ground! ❤

Thank you so much for this video, Amanda! It couldn't have come at a better time for me. I have really been struggling with staying committed to my planners lately. I've bought so many new ones, but I still have planners that are perfectly good and will last until the end of the year. It's been a stressful year, and I think I keep buying planners because I'm looking for that perfect system to relieve my stress- and they're all so pretty! I feel guilty because I have too many in my stash, so I switch back and forth between them constantly. I think I need to give myself permission to destash and let go of the guilt. Thanks for some awesome tips. 😊

I’m in the process of destashing planners and supplies (already tackled stickers and pens) and it was like a huge weight was lifted and I feel in control instead of my stuff controlling me.

I am using one of unused planners as a recipe book. Seasonally: soups in September, Chili and stews in October, salads in summer, curries in November etc. On the notes pages I put notes on nutrition and health or food sources. Since it's a spiral bound planner it can be folded over to show the recipe I'm preparing.
Some sections are for diy mixes, sauces, and salsas. I can add washi to make the pages attractive. A section for favourites for each season.

You ALWAYS have such good advice! I totally agree with staying away from social media, I don't need to be "influenced" by a dozen different kinds of planners. I think I know which manufacturers I like by now! And experts as well. 🤓 🖊 📒

Great video Amanda! This was the first year year I spent $$ on a planner so I've viewed this experience as a way to really find out what I want/need in my planner. And your tip to draw lines and markup the planner to make it work was super helpful when i was feeling stuck on my planner. For me, I've just decided to get through the year and observe what works and doesn't and I definitely have my ideas about what I will be using next year as I only allow myself one main planner and one wellness planner at a time. ❤

This video was so helpful and at the perfect time. I have been frozen over which of my multiple weekly planners to use for June and have just been using my daily for the things I need to do each day. I am shopping my stash, but I think the most helpful tip for me was to stay off social media or at least mute those accounts that tempt me to buy one more planner to try out. I am going to set a budget for 2025 too.

I started out in a daily this year, but was feeling overwhelmed by all the space. I gave myself permission to order a weekly to switch over to.
I try to really pay attention to what was and wasn't working about each planner I use. Over time, I have come up with my NEED list so I can easily rule out planners.
I need a Monday start month, thick paper, coil, and dated. My need list cuts out a lot of FOMO because I know a planner won't work for me if it doesn't have all of my need items.

I used dot grid composition notebooks and box grid before that. For a couple dollars, I could draw my layouts I needed in about an hour a month and not have to worry about cost. I bought my happy planners on clearance for about $3, and just redate the weeks. Then I started printing out the layouts I found better for my current needs, punch the mushroom holes for the discs and use the discs and tab dividers over and over. I had several years where I could even fit multiple years (3 was my max) in the same composition notebook. (My adhd needs more space now so 1 is my limit.) I even used left over pages to test layouts before putting them into my current setups so I had a fall back if the test layouts didn't function for me.

    Thanks for this video.
At about 4:43 minutes in on this video you mentioned “Taylor” created a mind map on all the planners she uses and posted a video on this. I’ve been brain dumping some thoughts on this idea, so if you don’t mind telling me who Taylor is, I’ll go search for her video on this subject to see if I can finalize my thoughts on which planner is best for the various areas of my life.
I was determined to not buy so many planners this year… failed!!! Maybe next year.
Thanks for mentioning that Taylor created a mind map for using her buoys planners!! I’m intrigued!!

Honestly im really bsd at sticking to one planner. I only have 1 catch all planner but ive been through 4 planners this year. I alway try to give a planner 3 months before giving up but bot always. I research alpt before committing to a purchase and will sowmtimes go back into a planner ive already got. Im getting better and already started researching for next year. I set my budget and decided to get only 1 planner for home and a bullet journal/notebook hybrid for work.

    • @AmandasFavorites
      @AmandasFavorites  6 місяців тому

I am not sure I understand your question....Could you clarify please;) I would just write the to do items around the time that you plan on working on them...just in the general timed area. You could also draw out time blocks- like morning, afternoon, evening...and just listing tasks in those blocks that you plan to do in that set of hours;) Hope that helps.
