    the biggest drawback in my opinion is that it can only record 1080p60 at h264 codec. almost every new cameramodel can transfer files over wifi or usb-c to you smartphone. what i would like to see is a device like that which can record proresraw internally and use the smartphone or tablet as a monitor. that would be game changing.

    I think this is a fantastic device, but at that price point I feel like you can get designated monitors that are larger in size and have a lot of the same features. It definitely has some unique ones like the live streaming and recording straight to your phone, but without any knowledge of how it changes someones workflow I don't know if it is entirely worth that price. The Sony A7iv already has a built in Bluetooth monitoring feature. It isn't the best but it gets the job done at no extra cost. If they could make it cheaper then it would definitely be a must have for beginners all the way up to professionals. Great video though!

    This would look so much better on larger phone screen with USB-C. iPhone is still limited by its Lightning port. The latency is very noticable. This is why I bought a Note 20 Ultra, with FilmicPro and KineMaster software. Together, I have all the functions I need to film, edit and post videos to UA-cam. No exporting video files to a computer needed. Plus, the S-Pen makes editing on the large screen a breeze. The less parts, the better.

Just one of the ways Android allows for more unique software for specific things like this over Apple, but glad to see they are allowing things like this. I can connect right to the USBC on my phone to the camera, don't need another device inbetween so I can just set the phone on a phone mount and I'm good to go! So I just bought the Monitor+ app for Sony and after playing with it, it seems to have quite a few advantages over something like this. The most obvious is there is no big heavy battery needed. It's just a USB to the phone. But being a USB interface also gives it control over a bunch of settings. You can change exposure settings and such. It seems to have all of the monitoring tools I would want as well. I think when I shoot weddings now, I will run a USB up to a camera on a tripod extender and have the phone at an easy height since I have full control I won't need to touch the camera. Has any one used the Monitor+ app on shoots? It should at least be mentioned with an item like this.

      @@OscarShu That is a good point. I wish an iphone could be wired. But I did have a cheap android lying around and it seems to work great on it. And it's a crappy phone, just the cheapest phone T-Mobile had when I needed to get off of thier Jump Program. I don't want to put my main phone (Note 20 Ultra) on my camera as I use it for other things. My office line is an iphone so I wish it could be used as a monitor. I might mess around with on wifi.

    I have been looking for a device like this, since apple lauched the max vresion of the iphones. I got something similar to that from the monitor + app, but the lack of robustness on the app like getting signal trough wi-fi only made me wish for an alternative, like a capture card for iPhone, or native hardware support like the sony smartphones have, and there is where this device enters. I loved the livestraming function, it adds so much to it for broadcasters, specially if they made this compatible with the TVU and LiveU formats.
    The only thing this made me wish for is a sata port to record footage on an ssd instead of the phone memory, maybe a pro version in mate black? :)))

      Those adapters use cheap micro-chip and those chips use MJPEG compression, due to the performance of the chips the compression ratio is very high, so the image quality is very low and have color issue. SeeMo adopte H.264 so the image quality is way more better than those adapters, you can check the comparison in Caleb's review. Also SeeMo is the only adapter which support iOS and passed Apple MFi certification.

    I can’t see myself using my phone as a monitor, really. When on a shoot, I use my phone all the time, from taking scouting/ framing reference pictures, to messaging with crew and production people to taking or consulting notes, checking interview questions,, Google Maps, weather app, sunseeker or PhotoPills or even actually calling someone!
    A monitor needs to sit on the camera all the time, ready to shoot and not depending from the use I do of my phone. I can’t see myself take it on and off from the camera 45 times a day.
    I think this is a vastly underrated con about this kind of product.

    • @nkisystems
      @nkisystems Рік тому +2

      A wireless charger is the only way to charge your phone while using SeeMo at the moment. You can connect a 5V Qi charger to the 5V output port of SeeMo. You can also use the Apple MagSafe charger for fast charging. However, SeeMo can charge your iPad at 5V. The Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro is necessary if you want to charge your iPad faster.

    • @TheTechnoPilot
      @TheTechnoPilot Рік тому +1

      @@nkisystems I’m sorry but this extremely convoluted description is not a viable option for professional work. If we are using the Lightning port for data transmission is needs to also power the phone. Set life is usually 6hrs between breaks minimum and you aren’t going to reliably get 6hrs of screen on time plus recharge fully in a 30-45min lunch period to go the next +6hrs.

    • @nkisystems
      @nkisystems Рік тому +2

      @@TheTechnoPilot You can use the MagSafe charger to provide power while you phone is connected to SeeMo. We love to charge iPhone through the lightning connection, but it’s not possible at this moment due to Apple imposed restrictions.
