And if One Piece did a crappy asspull like that... that would be the biggest let down ever. But in general I think inevitably some people are still going to be disappointed when the One Piece is revealed and perhaps not like it. You just won't please everyone. You know titles are not the same as behavior? A pirate king to you may be different than to someone else. Teach as a king is different than Luffy. I think it would be a very Oda move to pull a Dragon Ball style move like how Mr Satan was credited with defeating Cell and Buu but every warrior knows it was Gohan and Goku so Luffy could reach One Piece first, use it and save the world but Buggy ends up getting the credits of it so he becomes fanous while Luffy gets to live care free while being heavily respected by the people who were there to witness the end
I could see it going like this: Shanks (by some sequence of events) dies in a fight against BB. Luffy is angered and rather than getting revenge, it fuels his want to get the one piece before him. BB ends up getting to it first in the end and, in an effort to prevent him from getting it, Koby tries to fight him, but to no success. Koby then resorts to teaming up with Luffy. That gives you the spirit of Roger in Luffy, the spirit of Garp in Koby, and the spirit of Xebec in BB, making a new God Valley moment.
Ranking who I *genuinely* believe will end up with the One Piece: 1) Luffy: He's the MC 2) Buggy: It'll be hilarious 3) Silhouette: I just find it noticeably strange for a mystery character to be directly introduced as one of the 12 to claim the One Piece and not come significantly close to it. 4) Koby: The most neutral and trustworthy Character ever. 5) Blackbeard: One of the most intelligent guys and a man of plans that actually work. Carrying the will of Xebec. 6) Imu: Possibly the main villain, similar in reasons to Blackbeard. 7) Shanks: In-World closest to finding the One Piece. 8) Sabo: Closely carrying the will of Roger, Luffy's brother. Most recognised revolutionary. 9) Dragon: The World's Most Wanted Criminal, Head of the Revolutionaries, Luffy's Dad. 10) Sakazuki: A Marine, I don't see him achieving what has been told to us to deliver the title of The Pirates King. 11) Kuzan: Been shown to have some of the least importance character-wise out of these 12. Seems out of the blue at the moment. 12) Garling: Not talked about in-world, neither has the screentime. Similar in reasons to Kuzan.
Roger with a GameCube is a nice touch that system was a real treasure from 2001 a time as long ago as he found the legendary Laughtale Treasure. I expect Luffy to reach Laughtale, although I can also see him giving up the treasure to Nami's anger. 1 of the items is probably a Bronze Statue of Joyboy considering how early on Luffy wanted 1 of those made of him.
On “Heroes”: Hero is a “Moral Concept”. A Moral Concept is one that can have a change in its definition depending on the Ethics of the person using the concept. For example: if one holds “Other people should be the beneficiary of my actions as a primary”, then a hero is “one who risks their lives to save others”. However, if one holds “I should be the primary beneficiary of my own actions”, then a hero is “one who risks their lives to gain and keep values”. Garp, as a marine, is a hero who saves people who are victims of the initiation of force, for the sake of the people. Luffy, as a pirate, is a “hero” who is pursuing his happiness by way of adventure. Luffy saves people, but as a secondary consequence of him pursuing his happiness. He makes friends, which contribute to he values and happiness, and then defends those people from people initiating force on them. He doesn’t go out trying to find people to save though, like a Marine. Luffy is in a culture that seems to universally hold a hero to be like Garp, someone who saves people as a primary, so he rejects the idea that he is a hero. Luffy is my hero though, regardless of what he would think of that haha
I agree with every single point and think I said a good amount of this in the comments on your community post with the poll. The only thing that I didn’t realize at the time is that Kuzan could potentially be aligned with at least 3 different contenders. Akainu, Black Beard, or Coby. We have no idea what his plans are, and he could be a sword double agent that tried to take control of the marines and failed, so instead aligned with BB to get the road map to the one piece, and to put himself in a position to thwart BB.

But I don’t see him actually wanting the one piece, or any interest in it besides a surface level curiosity. His whole organization is all about disrupting the cruelty of the WG.
Luffy wants to steal the sun. A whimsical fantasy of childhood to reach up and seize the day. To do so he would have to be a good pirate or more precisely the best pirate. Roger used to say this, and so when a kid says this and then eats the sun God fruit shanks bet his arm on that. This is the best theory I have come by.

Definitely agree, like Luffy can end up with the One Piece after the defeating Blackbeard, but end up giving it to Koby/Koby liberates Luffy from the responsibility of it so that he can be free. I also like the idea of Koby and Sabo working together afterwards to create a better world, like a coming together of revolutionary liberation and honest justice or whatever
Two things that would create the funniest outcomes for the end of One Piece: 1) In order to reach and obtain the One Piece, you need a musician. This would be funny because that is something that Luffy said right back at the beginning of the series. I remember him telling Zoro and Nami that the next person he wanted was a musician. He never said why. Perhaps he overheard Shanks and his crew talking about the One Piece at some time, and overheard this. We don't know, but it would be funny. 2) Irony of ironies, Luffy gets the One Piece and gives it to Coby! That would be funny, and bring the story full circle. Of all the characters who are aiming for the One Piece, I think Coby is the one that Luffy would trust the most. This would make Coby the hero of the world, and next leader of the Marines, enabling both Luffy and Coby to achieve their dreams.
It's also like Blackbeard told Kuzan. Pirates aren't friends or buddies, they use one another for their own gain. So I'm pretty sure he's taking that to heart with Blackbeard and using his status on his crew to keep an eye on the bigger events and move when he has his chance. I just can't believe he would entirely abandon justice, he just doesn't like who the face of that justice is right now.

Fun idea. No idea why it hit me just not but still. What if all of Imu's motivations is that Imu is the child Joyboy left behind when he set out to sea? Doing things like keeping around the big hat and trying to crush everything that joyboy set in motion would make sense if Imu was always acting out of a desire to try and stop anybody else from going through the abandonment they did. Also would mean that Luffy being basically abandoned by both his father and grandfather and rising to act like joyboy would hurt Imu twice and much and make them even more angry about it.
In the end, Garp, Koby, and Kuzan will represent the new Marines, Sabo, and Dragon will work to establish a democracy and the first elected will be Vivi, and as her first act as "prime minister", she will abolish slavery and will open the doors for the world to join the new world government or even leave it if they want to do so.
I agree pretty closely with your ideas, Blackbeard will find it first, Luffy will fight him and claim it back, he’ll hand it off to Koby to use it, and then Buggy will get all the credit and be the one known as Pirate King.
1:00 I think Luffy wants to be king of the world, because the king of the world can do whatever he wants. In the Yamato flash back, when Luffy says his true dream to ace and sabo, Sabo’s response mentions kings. Plus, I don’t really see anything less surprising his crew that much. Especially after they’ve already accepted his already absurd dream of King of the Pirates. Also that’s something that every 8 year old boy yells out to his friends. And of course Buggy D. Clown will be the one that ends up with the one piece and be the Third Pirate King
I think the line of succession goes shanks (if BB doesn’t get him first), Luffy (who wil attempt to use it to fight the WG and will lose it) Garling (who will eventually be defeated not by a good person but by Blackbeard) then Blackbeard (of course he’s gonna get it at some point) who will be betrayed by Kuzan kicking off the events of the final war. The grand fleet and their allies, The marines led by sakuzuki who at this point has abandoned the WG or has been betrayed by them, Kuzan will be revealed as the leader of sword, eventually killed by Sakazuki, and will eventually give the one piece to Koby. Koby will protect the one piece because he believes it’s the key to luffys dream, the war will eventually cause the destruction of the redline by Blackbeard Luffy and imu fighting each other, specifically by either Blackbeard or Imu, and luffy reveals his dream was to be able to go anywhere he wants no longer needing the one piece, leaving it with Koby who will take half of it and use whatever it is to reform the world government, but buggy will end up with the other half leading to him being recognized as the pirate king and Koby as the fleet admiral. The two least deserving people at the beginning of the series ended up with the treasure that’s funny
We may have a repeat of the Fleet Admiral situation with Kuzan, where he didn't want to be Fleet Admiral but didn't want it to be Sakazuki so he battled him for it. It's not that he particularly wants the One Piece, it's that he's opposed to some of the ones who do and will claim it so they can't. I don't think Kuzan will end up with the One Piece (I think he and Shanks will both end up dead by Blackbeard) but he will be key in determining who does end up with the One Piece.
"It's all about the journey, not the destination" seems to be the best way to describe luffy's journey. Also i think that if/when shanks gets to laugh tale, he wouldn't laugh because he's going there to claim the one piece, not become the pirate king, like he has other plans.
I know its been a year. But what if Luffys dream is to be a father and have a family, live a family life? Go back and watch the reactions of people who heard his dream. Sabo wants to see that happen, Ace is surprised coz of his daddy issues (but secretly longs for it), the whole crew is either laughing at Luffy coz they know he is a big child, or they are exited coz deep down they know how wonderful that would be. Nami goes from worry to acceptance coz she knows Luffy, and Yamato just cries coz she is just like Ace longing for that kind of person, with a dream of being a parent.
You know, I don't think that statement about Akainu means that he's just that good. It might just mean that he doesn't think he could write a story with him as the protagonist for that long, since he wouldn't be as interested in it
Roger trusted his legacy with shanks to wait for joyboy, which is why he always maintains balance in the sea. Buggy may think the person that inherited his capt. legacy was'nt actively pursing to become pirate king and so he will be the one to become the pirate king.
SO, i think you are right but I think it will go to Koby through his "catching Alvida" only so Black Beard will get hold of it but be unable to use it, i think we will get to see something interesting in this regard. Thinking back to Marineford and WB's comment "The man that Roger is waiting for, at the very least, Teach. Is not you." but as Alvida is part of cross guild, buggy will get the credit of getting there first. this will set the stage for a Marinefordesque fight-battle-royale with BB, the Garlands, the marines both sword and standard the strawhats and grand fleet, revolutionaries and various pirate remnants.
My money's on Buggy or Blackbeard. Whitebeard said to Teech before he died that he "was definitely not the person Roger was waiting for" and Vegapunk also said that "whoever finds the One Piece may not be who Joyboy was waiting for!" but another possibility is that the Marines find it first, placing it in the hands of the World Government which would be Joyboy's worst nightmare

Luffy not becoming pirate king is the worst cop out in the world. Even if he has a bigger dream, he repeatedly states that he is “luffy the man who will become pirate king”. I would understand if someone finds it before him but he WILL become pirate king. If he does not or chooses to skip out on it then it’s one of those cop outs that oda hates.

You know titles are not the same as behavior? A pirate king to you may be different than to someone else. Teach as a king is different than Luffy. So at the End, Luffy not being called Pirate King, because the view of the world on what a pirate king may be different from what Luffy thinks. So him saying he is going to become pirate king says shit about the situation.

I think it would be a very Oda move to pull a Dragon Ball style move like how Mr Satan was credited with defeating Cell and Buu but every warrior knows it was Gohan and Goku so Luffy could reach One Piece first, use it and save the world but Buggy ends up getting the credits of it so he becomes fanous while Luffy gets to live care free while being heavily respected by the people who were there to witness the end

Shanks (by some sequence of events) dies in a fight against BB. Luffy is angered and rather than getting revenge, it fuels his want to get the one piece before him. BB ends up getting to it first in the end and, in an effort to prevent him from getting it, Koby tries to fight him, but to no success. Koby then resorts to teaming up with Luffy. That gives you the spirit of Roger in Luffy, the spirit of Garp in Koby, and the spirit of Xebec in BB, making a new God Valley moment.
Buggy will find it. He is Odas favorite character.

Ranking who I *genuinely* believe will end up with the One Piece:
1) Luffy: He's the MC
2) Buggy: It'll be hilarious
3) Silhouette: I just find it noticeably strange for a mystery character to be directly introduced as one of the 12 to claim the One Piece and not come significantly close to it.
4) Koby: The most neutral and trustworthy Character ever.
5) Blackbeard: One of the most intelligent guys and a man of plans that actually work. Carrying the will of Xebec.
6) Imu: Possibly the main villain, similar in reasons to Blackbeard.
7) Shanks: In-World closest to finding the One Piece.
8) Sabo: Closely carrying the will of Roger, Luffy's brother. Most recognised revolutionary.
9) Dragon: The World's Most Wanted Criminal, Head of the Revolutionaries, Luffy's Dad.
10) Sakazuki: A Marine, I don't see him achieving what has been told to us to deliver the title of The Pirates King.
11) Kuzan: Been shown to have some of the least importance character-wise out of these 12. Seems out of the blue at the moment.
12) Garling: Not talked about in-world, neither has the screentime. Similar in reasons to Kuzan.
Honestly, if it's not Luffy then Oda has spent 25+ years building towards the worst anticlimax in fiction history.
Roger with a GameCube is a nice touch that system was a real treasure from 2001 a time as long ago as he found the legendary Laughtale Treasure. I expect Luffy to reach Laughtale, although I can also see him giving up the treasure to Nami's anger. 1 of the items is probably a Bronze Statue of Joyboy considering how early on Luffy wanted 1 of those made of him.

On “Heroes”: Hero is a “Moral Concept”. A Moral Concept is one that can have a change in its definition depending on the Ethics of the person using the concept. For example: if one holds “Other people should be the beneficiary of my actions as a primary”, then a hero is “one who risks their lives to save others”. However, if one holds “I should be the primary beneficiary of my own actions”, then a hero is “one who risks their lives to gain and keep values”.
Garp, as a marine, is a hero who saves people who are victims of the initiation of force, for the sake of the people.
Luffy, as a pirate, is a “hero” who is pursuing his happiness by way of adventure.
Luffy saves people, but as a secondary consequence of him pursuing his happiness. He makes friends, which contribute to he values and happiness, and then defends those people from people initiating force on them. He doesn’t go out trying to find people to save though, like a Marine. Luffy is in a culture that seems to universally hold a hero to be like Garp, someone who saves people as a primary, so he rejects the idea that he is a hero. Luffy is my hero though, regardless of what he would think of that haha

The only thing that I didn’t realize at the time is that Kuzan could potentially be aligned with at least 3 different contenders. Akainu, Black Beard, or Coby. We have no idea what his plans are, and he could be a sword double agent that tried to take control of the marines and failed, so instead aligned with BB to get the road map to the one piece, and to put himself in a position to thwart BB.

But I don’t see him actually wanting the one piece, or any interest in it besides a surface level curiosity. His whole organization is all about disrupting the cruelty of the WG.

Luffy wants to steal the sun. A whimsical fantasy of childhood to reach up and seize the day. To do so he would have to be a good pirate or more precisely the best pirate. Roger used to say this, and so when a kid says this and then eats the sun God fruit shanks bet his arm on that. This is the best theory I have come by.

I think Shanks being wary of Blackbeard and now him going for the One Piece is more of him gatekeeping it until Luffy gets there. He probably knows Luffy is the one Rodger was waiting for and Blackbeard would ruin everything. It will probably end up with Shanks and Blackbeard facing off.

As someone who believed in Koby being an end-game character from day 1, it is amazing just how the general community's opinion on him turned around during the Egghead arc.
I know manga creators have been trying to scam fans like gege did when he killed Gojo and then they act cool about it “I hated him”. Not cool, stop the cop outs. Luffy has to find it first, destroy anyone else who comes close to it, free the world, and become the pirate king. We have been waiting for 24 years now!
I still stick to my theory that everyone's going to make it to laughtale and it's going to be one big battle on that island, but the biggest question of all when that happened is who's going to end up fighting whom?
Definitely agree, like Luffy can end up with the One Piece after the defeating Blackbeard, but end up giving it to Koby/Koby liberates Luffy from the responsibility of it so that he can be free. I also like the idea of Koby and Sabo working together afterwards to create a better world, like a coming together of revolutionary liberation and honest justice or whatever
Two things that would create the funniest outcomes for the end of One Piece:
1) In order to reach and obtain the One Piece, you need a musician. This would be funny because that is something that Luffy said right back at the beginning of the series. I remember him telling Zoro and Nami that the next person he wanted was a musician. He never said why. Perhaps he overheard Shanks and his crew talking about the One Piece at some time, and overheard this. We don't know, but it would be funny.
2) Irony of ironies, Luffy gets the One Piece and gives it to Coby! That would be funny, and bring the story full circle. Of all the characters who are aiming for the One Piece, I think Coby is the one that Luffy would trust the most. This would make Coby the hero of the world, and next leader of the Marines, enabling both Luffy and Coby to achieve their dreams.
It's also like Blackbeard told Kuzan. Pirates aren't friends or buddies, they use one another for their own gain. So I'm pretty sure he's taking that to heart with Blackbeard and using his status on his crew to keep an eye on the bigger events and move when he has his chance. I just can't believe he would entirely abandon justice, he just doesn't like who the face of that justice is right now.
its amazing that Oda made so much hype about things like the rocks pirates, god valley, and even Joyboy and the D crew, and he's able to make the final showdown look just as epic
Just wanna say that art of Imu's throne with all the different swords is incredible, props to whoever did that. I can spot Excalibur, Aegislash, Lightsaber, Wargraymon lmao, and I think buster sword and guts sword? Not sure about the other couple, just really cool fun art.
Fun idea. No idea why it hit me just not but still. What if all of Imu's motivations is that Imu is the child Joyboy left behind when he set out to sea? Doing things like keeping around the big hat and trying to crush everything that joyboy set in motion would make sense if Imu was always acting out of a desire to try and stop anybody else from going through the abandonment they did. Also would mean that Luffy being basically abandoned by both his father and grandfather and rising to act like joyboy would hurt Imu twice and much and make them even more angry about it.
In the end, Garp, Koby, and Kuzan will represent the new Marines, Sabo, and Dragon will work to establish a democracy and the first elected will be Vivi, and as her first act as "prime minister", she will abolish slavery and will open the doors for the world to join the new world government or even leave it if they want to do so.
I agree pretty closely with your ideas, Blackbeard will find it first, Luffy will fight him and claim it back, he’ll hand it off to Koby to use it, and then Buggy will get all the credit and be the one known as Pirate King.

1:00 I think Luffy wants to be king of the world, because the king of the world can do whatever he wants. In the Yamato flash back, when Luffy says his true dream to ace and sabo, Sabo’s response mentions kings. Plus, I don’t really see anything less surprising his crew that much. Especially after they’ve already accepted his already absurd dream of King of the Pirates. Also that’s something that every 8 year old boy yells out to his friends.
And of course Buggy D. Clown will be the one that ends up with the one piece and be the Third Pirate King
I think the line of succession goes shanks (if BB doesn’t get him first), Luffy (who wil attempt to use it to fight the WG and will lose it) Garling (who will eventually be defeated not by a good person but by Blackbeard) then Blackbeard (of course he’s gonna get it at some point) who will be betrayed by Kuzan kicking off the events of the final war. The grand fleet and their allies, The marines led by sakuzuki who at this point has abandoned the WG or has been betrayed by them, Kuzan will be revealed as the leader of sword, eventually killed by Sakazuki, and will eventually give the one piece to Koby. Koby will protect the one piece because he believes it’s the key to luffys dream, the war will eventually cause the destruction of the redline by Blackbeard Luffy and imu fighting each other, specifically by either Blackbeard or Imu, and luffy reveals his dream was to be able to go anywhere he wants no longer needing the one piece, leaving it with Koby who will take half of it and use whatever it is to reform the world government, but buggy will end up with the other half leading to him being recognized as the pirate king and Koby as the fleet admiral. The two least deserving people at the beginning of the series ended up with the treasure that’s funny

We may have a repeat of the Fleet Admiral situation with Kuzan, where he didn't want to be Fleet Admiral but didn't want it to be Sakazuki so he battled him for it. It's not that he particularly wants the One Piece, it's that he's opposed to some of the ones who do and will claim it so they can't.
I don't think Kuzan will end up with the One Piece (I think he and Shanks will both end up dead by Blackbeard) but he will be key in determining who does end up with the One Piece.
I stand by that one dude I once saw comment, "Luffy will find it, Koby will use it, Buggy gets the credit."
"It's all about the journey, not the destination" seems to be the best way to describe luffy's journey. Also i think that if/when shanks gets to laugh tale, he wouldn't laugh because he's going there to claim the one piece, not become the pirate king, like he has other plans.
I know its been a year. But what if Luffys dream is to be a father and have a family, live a family life? Go back and watch the reactions of people who heard his dream. Sabo wants to see that happen, Ace is surprised coz of his daddy issues (but secretly longs for it), the whole crew is either laughing at Luffy coz they know he is a big child, or they are exited coz deep down they know how wonderful that would be. Nami goes from worry to acceptance coz she knows Luffy, and Yamato just cries coz she is just like Ace longing for that kind of person, with a dream of being a parent.
You know, I don't think that statement about Akainu means that he's just that good. It might just mean that he doesn't think he could write a story with him as the protagonist for that long, since he wouldn't be as interested in it
Roger trusted his legacy with shanks to wait for joyboy, which is why he always maintains balance in the sea. Buggy may think the person that inherited his capt. legacy was'nt actively pursing to become pirate king and so he will be the one to become the pirate king.
SO, i think you are right but I think it will go to Koby through his "catching Alvida" only so Black Beard will get hold of it but be unable to use it, i think we will get to see something interesting in this regard. Thinking back to Marineford and WB's comment "The man that Roger is waiting for, at the very least, Teach. Is not you." but as Alvida is part of cross guild, buggy will get the credit of getting there first. this will set the stage for a Marinefordesque fight-battle-royale with BB, the Garlands, the marines both sword and standard the strawhats and grand fleet, revolutionaries and various pirate remnants.

Whitebeard said to Teech before he died that he "was definitely not the person Roger was waiting for" and Vegapunk also said that "whoever finds the One Piece may not be who Joyboy was waiting for!" but another possibility is that the Marines find it first, placing it in the hands of the World Government which would be Joyboy's worst nightmare
