I absolutely love my hookeroon. Fiskars. I use as you describe, and also use it to drag logs either to the saw or spltter. Serations on the top of the hook to push away a log. I want a peavey. I have a timber jack, similar, but no point on the end.

I thought the Hookaroon was some gimmick when I got it. Now I keep it by my side at all times when cutting wood.

I love the pickaroon, it definitely saves your back! I bought mine, along with a Peavey to move long logs by myself. You can order them in any length you like from the Peavey Co. in Maine. They’ve been around forever, make great tools and fantastic service. Happy and safe New Year.

I'm hooked on the pickaroon too! I'll go check out the Peavey Company.

I thought I heard someone say ash could be burned green? Don't mean to spread rumours though, cheers!

I've heard that too though never tested the theory. When green it definitely starts dryer than any other wood I can think of.
