I’m starting at York in September doing English and this REALLY helped ease some anxiety! I’m starting after a gap year, so i’ve been worried that it’ll be hard to get back into a more disciplined academic environment where everyone will be somewhat ‘ahead’ of me, but this was really reassuring. thanks for making this! x
I'm starting at york this September for my masters in management, and I could truly relate every second with you starting from pre-planning and scheduling and trying the hit and trial procedure for my betterment from the beginning to stay focussed throughout, and saying big no to a party or outings, thanks a lot for sharing this! It helped me a lot like an international student to get to know Life at York University. I highly appreciate you for sharing your experience, this has surely helped me to think with a broader aspect with how life should be handled and not forget that human nature just can't be estimated just because the place will change, human and human nature and the drama, I AGREE!!!
The way she overthinks (Or used to) and just her mind process in general is sooo meee. Like I legit caught on everything she said and really FELT THAT. An icon omg 🥺
this video really helped me and my anxiety out so much, im hoping to go to York uni september 2021 and i was really worrying about not achieving and overthinking of what decisions to make. But your delivery and honest advice really helped me out and it brought reassurance and comfort so thank u sm!
You have no idea how helpful these videos are. Thank you a lot Chelsie. I'm a bit nervous about doing Law, but your advice is helpful xxx God bles you xx
I'm so glad these are helpful! Being nervous is completely normal. I felt so out of my depths for the first few weeks but it goes away very quickly! Enjoy every minute! Best of luck!
I've been considering York for uni but have recently started looking into the massive, aggressive goose population. For a person with a fear of large birds.... Is it a no go?
I would like to thank u, because I am also a btec student and I didn’t think I would fit in and won’t get accepted knowing it’s such an amazing uni. But don’t know if u remember I asked for ur help for the interview process and I took that into consideration and now got an offer from them. X
Thank you SO much! Would you still recommend reading around your subject this summer? I'm hoping to take History at York this year and I don't know whether to read some of the books on the website :) xx
you're welcome! i would say it's not a prerequisite but if you have the time and you want to read around the subject/start on your reading list, then go for it!
How did you overcome getting onto vac schemes considering you done a btec instead of alevels. Also did the requirement set by nearly all commercial firms stop you ?
Thanks for sharing this! I have put York as my firm choice for law and am really looking forward to it (albeit a bit nervous!). Was great to be able to hear that the anxieties I have about starting are common with someone! x
This is really great advice, saying things that don't get mentioned. I am shocked with how some other people disregard their degrees, to put it bluntly. To me this is like scratching a car you've bought - you're paying 10k for each yr of your degree and u won't be doing it again so u don't just do shit on your assignments, go out every night etc.
I'm looking to go to work as an international student for undergraduate political science as a third-year student I just wanted to know how student life is it a close campus with school spirit or is it very school focused all the time
i'd say it depends on the college you join. some colleges are known for being quiet (constantine, Alcuin) and others are known for partying (langwith, derwent, james, halifax). regardless of which college you join, you can find nightlife anywhere. York is very much what you make it. there's always a pub/club to go to in town regardless of the day. but there's also great library spots and study spaces.

I liked the lights :)

You remind me of Oregon from fresh meat
Was about to say this
I feel like we are very similar. Nice to know I'm not the only one like this!
