It's amazing how tom hardy's character rarely spoke but you could constantly feel the pain he was suffering. You could just see the pain in his mannerisms and expressions
@@scottdatplanetsave I don't think this is a bad thing I mean a lot of actors basically play the same character I mean have you ever seen Clint Eastwood do anything other than Clint Eastwood does what he does like a lot of actors you know they can be very successful by playing the same character over and over
THIS MOVIE HURT. Fucking hell. What I love most about this film is that you can see that every character in this movie is hurt in some way, and due to that pain, is now fighting for what they believe in because of it. Tommy's backstory is by far the most tragic of the two brothers, but in the end, I found myself routing for both in the final fight. Both had equally as valid reasons to fight, non of which seemed to be contrived in anyway. I think that's what really makes this film so special; it reflects how in real life, sometimes knowing who the 'good' and the 'bad' guy really isn't that clear cut in the end. The father played by Nick Nolte was also equally as sad as well! This film deserves way more credit then it's currently received.
I've seen my father cry twice in my life. His mother's funeral, and at the end of this movie in the theater. This movie had a profound effect on me. After my parents had divorced, my brother and I weren't very close. This... masterpiece, It changed that.
Thanks to this film I have realized that is time to retrieve the relationship with my father and realizing that it is better to fix things than be hurt all my life.

Great comment, James. It hit me that way on a deep gut level, but you put the feeling perfectly into words . I had not been able to find the words for the movie's impact, before, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha .
Tom Hardy, Nick Nolte and Joel Edgerton should all do another movie again maybe Warrior 2. Set years after Warrior 1 and they all try to go for the UFC title and Nick Nolte struggles to find love again. I don't think it will ever! Be as good as Warrior but I'd kill to have another one.

I've been listening to this song for twelve years. It was the first song I heard by the national (and this is my favorite version of the song) and they've been a lowkey favorite of mine since sleep well beast came out. It took me a while to figure out why this song specifically resonated with me. I know the lyrics portray a relationship struggling from a breakdown in communication. But for me in the back of my head the song was always about knowing I should reach out for help in dealing with my unresolved traumas before I lost myself. The part of me knowing I could do better if I was willing to try asking the damaged part of me how close am I to losing myself. I've been in therapy for seven years dealing with bpd and anxiety. I'm not out of the woods yet but I've made progress. I know if you're struggling, you can too, if you keep at it. I revisit this song every now and then to remind myself how far I've come. Fuckin hell those strings are magnificent.
R.I.P to my brother Arthur Lara aka Tudy 10/14/81-3/15/13 he bought this movie on DVD and I took his whole collection and put this movie on when this part hit I lost my mind I love you brother feels like just yesterday!!
@@xquickblade5648 I view as the circumstances relating to loss. Everyone has lost something, or someone. And I believe this song is a sort of acceptance of that loss. Like “yeah, I’m hurt, I’m in pain, but I’ll be okay down the line”.
I watched this movie on TV1000 20 minutes ago - I cried at this moment, and I'm not ashamed to admit it "I love you, Tommy" - just rain of tears when he said it
This film is in my top 10, easily. I watched it first years ago. It wasn’t until I saw Tom Hardy in another role (Bronson I think) that I looked at his back catalogue and saw Warrior …. So I watched it. It’s a phenomenal film, it moved me to tears. It was emotive, great story, relatable, sympathetic characters and I just don’t understand how it’s not more popular…. Another commenter said it didn’t recoup its costs in the box office. I’ll still be watching it when I’m old, it’s hard to beat.
Out of a huge family me and Mom were the only ones in the hospital room overnight. Praying for your recovery, not wanting you to be alone, and clutching your hands as you did mine from the day we were both born. This song means more to me ever since we lost you and time does not mend all wounds. My heart and life will never be the same as I watched you slipped away. My only comfort is each day is a day closer to you and until then I fight the good fight. Missing you every step of the way. Love you Granny (my best friend)!
"About Today" Today you were far away and I didn't ask you why What could I say I was far away You just walked away and I just watched you What could I say How close am I to losing you Tonight you just close your eyes and I just watch you slip away How close am I to losing you Hey, are you awake Yeah I'm right here Well can I ask you about today How close am I to losing you How close am I to losing
This song is such a powerful and perfect fit for this movie. The feelings you have for your family are very complex. This becomes even more evident between the parent of an adult child who only remembers the pain of the past not realizing the parent is only human and did the best they could even if it was wrong. Great, great movie!
I LOVE that he only taps out after the "I love you". Otherwise I believe he would've just let himself pass out. But he needed his brother. And I love that they walk out together. Such a good ending, despite the sadness
I'm four years late, but I cry when their dad goes on a drinking binge and starts having war flashbacks, so Tommy wraps his arms around him in the bed to calm him down and get him to sleep. Very emotional movie..
Made me cry at the end, I lost my dad many years ago when I was 18. My younger brother passed away a few years back after we kind of had a falling out. You never know what life is going to bring you so stay close and love your family
Love is the pain, but is also the remedy. It makes wounds, but also heal wounds. Love breaks all, but can fix all. I kinda think that the hole MMA thing was a backstory to make context for a story about love, about family...
The issue with this movie is that at its face, it came across as another “it’s rocky/karate kid but mma” films of the time, and the trailers did nothing to dismiss that impression. At its core, this movie is about two brothers. Then as a sub layer there’s a dynamic between three men; two brothers, and their father. All of whom are equally as traumatized and desperate as the other, and neither knows how to be vulnerable enough to say, “hey, I’m hurting too.” and that’s it. This film is a beautiful little gem that pop culture hasn’t entirely exhausted yet, and I love it.
Found this on a blog, don't know the man's name or such but thought this was a pretty amazing interpretation of this song- "This is the sunset of a relationship. This is when love is a dying flame. This is when a man cares so much about a girl, that he lets her walk away. Though he asks about her day, he knows the inevitable and wonders when that day will come when the sun will sink behind the mountain and go to bed alone. We've all been this man, where the woman simply doesnt understand how much we care, nor understand that our life, is her life. In the end, no kindling will restart that flame and you're left to watch her backside disappear into the dying warmth of the evening sun. All this because a man loves a woman."
I lost my best friend in the whole world at the time I first heard this song. The end sums up my emotions at the time. I lost him. This song gives me strength and at the same time makes me crumble.
I can watch this movie a thousand times and still feel the same emotions I always felt. Hits deep within. One of the greatest movies ever, so sad it wasn't a box office smash. EVERYONE I tell to watch this movie can not believe they haven't heard of it or seen it. No one has never not loved it
One of the few movies that touched me like it did- so raw, so incredible. I have to admit this was one of the only movies I did not want the underdog (Edgerton) to win in, just because the direction, character development... literally everything was tear wrenching.
In my English class, we read a short story called Amigo Brothers and it was about friends who both wanted to win a fight called the "Golden Gloves". They were both boxers and the story didn't say who won, but that before the referee announced who won, they were already walking away, arm in arm. We watched this movie to compare it to the story (we're gonna do an essay on it) and I absolutely loved it. I was bawling by the time the song started and I was freaking out. I kept screaming, "Stop it, Tommy! Tap already!" The movie is an 11/10, too good.
A short time before my beloved mom passed away this song came on I had never heard it before and all through the song I could not stop looking at her thinking what on earth would I do without her in my life.
This movie aged like a fine wine. There are plenty of great movies about boxing /mma teaching us to stay strong and get rid of all those shxt days we've been through. But only this movie touched me deeply. Not just because the plots and character settings are so relatable, you will see different characters when you get older. First, being a Tommy who is sharp and cool. Then you see Brendan's determination. At some point, being A Frank, who can inspire and help others, and at the same time, help himself. The" You don't knock him out, you don't have a home" line gets me through hard times. But for me, the most difficult thing is saying the magical words( " I love you ") to my brother and my father. I guess that's it, there isn't a chance for us to fight and get on. When the time is long enough that we could forget about the past and move on, just like now, I am still on mute.
Warrior will forever be in my top at least 5 favorite movies of all time. Such an emotional and powerful ending to an amazingly written, directed, and acted film
Back in 2015 me and a bunch of friends were at a festival , we were feeling pretty rough after a night out. We were drinking the next day along side a cliff on a sunny beautiful day having a good laugh. Us irish not used to the sun at all we all got sun burned pretty badly! I asked my friend for his phone to play a few songs & i was surprised to have seen this song in his playlist as he strikes me as a really happy energetic friendly giant. From that weekend on we became great friends and always used to have endless great memories. Unfortunatley a year later he passed away due to a car accident , its his 2 year anniversary now and i always wish i could go back to that weekend where we had the best of craic. :( missing you always Ryan , you will always be missed greatly. ❤🙏❤🙏

This song was special to us both, so when planning his funeral and the family asked my opinion about what the music should be I didn't eveb need to think about it and this song was playing as we carried him in the day after his birthday. I really don't know. He had been reclusive for a long time and developed an alcohol and drug problem, he was the type to keep everything to himself and shut everybody out. He didn't leave a noteam to help us understand. He was just deeply unhappy and had been for years
I looked up the meaning of my name, which someone told me to do awhile back and it means (defender of man/ warrior, God is with us) and every time I look at this movie I have some deep realization about my past, and healing and perseverance. I see myself in both Tommy and Brendan, and I’m still hopping and praying that the Brendan side of me wins. This will forever be my favorite movie, the song just solidifies it more so. I loved a women very deeply when this movie came out and hearing this song always brings up good memories oddly
Best movie ever!!! Tom Hardy should have got an award for his performance was Tommy! I can't believe how great he plays his characters, Stuart , The twins in Legends! Unbelievable he is my favorite actor to this day! And don't forget Locke spoke great! I?he does so many more films! Oh and Brunson! Love Tom Hardy❤
This song brings up so much emotions to me. Found out devastating news about my wife's health and brings me to tears. I'm not much of one to show emotion but this song does it. Not trying to sound like a sob story but everybody has a story. Some greater than others. Just remember there's always an ending.

I told him that it was an awesome movie well worth the watch. He called me a couple days later and couldn’t believe that he had never heard of this movie before! It should have been a major box office hit.
One of my favorite films. The first time I saw this film I was in tears alot. Not usually a guy that cries at films. The National are an amazing band..
The pain we feel is one from abandonment and how we channel this energy - I’ve been lucky, my brother was my role model when my father passed, although he never was on my side at times of need, I knew he loved me. My brothers outside blood I will never forget
I had it too and this movie helped me. Seek Jesus he is real and loves you. I never believed he could care for me but if you seek with a sincere heart you will find him.
Man. I used to be a high level wrestler in the NCAA. I dabbled in MMA in a few amateur fights. This is one of the best storylines in an MMA movie. Reminds me of me and my older brother who taught me how to wrestle.

to give a simple synapse of the movie. the emotional response the women have to the notebook is on level with the one dudes have with this movie
Assisssin1 what a great analogy!! perfect
Awesome. ..
I wanted Tommy to win..He was the guy who lost everything, who never got nething..
Tap tommy ..its ok..its ok
I love you..I love you tommy..
Cried the first time I saw it...Watched It again after the movie got over...cried even more..
You did not get the movie I'm afraid
Brendan was the Warrior
Tommy needed to lose. He needed his older brother to take care of him
Damnnnn so do I, he deserves better
i think tommy could have win easy but he wanted to make his brother “suffer” in a way so the fight was longer and it did not good to him
I've been listening to this song for twelve years.
I can't think of a better example where a song fits the plot and the timing of a movie so perfectly! No words to describe it!
The Last Of The Mohicans
Check out 127 Hours, the visual climax combined with the explosive ending of Festival from Sigur Ros gave me the same rush as in Warrior.
Man, these lyrics are so brutal. They perfectly capture the immense pain of a breakup in so few words. I love this song
Luke Knapton Second time??? Oh man thats gotta be rough as hell
Pretty sure it's about a dying loved one. But that's good music for you, can relate anything to anyone.
@@xquickblade5648 I view as the circumstances relating to loss. Everyone has lost something, or someone. And I believe this song is a sort of acceptance of that loss. Like “yeah, I’m hurt, I’m in pain, but I’ll be okay down the line”.
The Wrestler, The Fighter & Warrior. The broken comeback trilogy.
🤣🤣I never looked at it like that, but yeah, they do have similar comeback themes.
This song will forever remind me of my Brother that passed away. He did 20 plus years in the Marines. Love you Brother.
I watched this movie on TV1000 20 minutes ago - I cried at this moment, and I'm not ashamed to admit it
"I love you, Tommy" - just rain of tears when he said it
Mirai Nikki. Is your name from the anime
I don't think I will ever get this song or the movie out of my head.
Tap Tommy, just tap
Perfect music for an outstanding movie which deserved more awards than it got.
My mother died of cancer ..I watched her going far and far every single minute...I couldn't do anything
Sorry for your loss
That comment made me cry a lot bro... Be strong, she will be so proud of you forever!
She’s watching and protecting you from somewhere, im sure of it.
so did mine, two months ago...i was with her at the end and yes far and far every single minute at the end.
Wish cancer didn’t exist it’s the one thing that us as humans will always truly fear
"About Today"
Today you were far away
and I didn't ask you why
What could I say
I was far away
You just walked away
and I just watched you
What could I say
How close am I to losing you
Tonight you just close your eyes
and I just watch you
slip away
How close am I to losing you
Hey, are you awake
Yeah I'm right here
Well can I ask you about today
How close am I to losing you
How close am I to losing
👍
This movie, should have sweeped the oscars, Period. The world was not ready for this movie. Wow.
This song is such a powerful and perfect fit for this movie. The feelings you have for your family are very complex. This becomes even more evident between the parent of an adult child who only remembers the pain of the past not realizing the parent is only human and did the best they could even if it was wrong. Great, great movie!
"Just tap! It´s okay tommy! I love you" - such a great movie! and song!
I'm Sorry, Tommy...
I'm Sorry...
.
Tap tommy...
Tap
.
.
.
.
I Love You, Tommy!
I love you...
*tap tap tap*
I LOVE that he only taps out after the "I love you". Otherwise I believe he would've just let himself pass out. But he needed his brother. And I love that they walk out together. Such a good ending, despite the sadness
one of the bestest movies in the world. i cried in the ending. i admit it. AWESOME FUCKING MOVIE LOVE IT
yup lol TRUE
Me to Bro!, just one of those underestimated movies...My fav even.
I'm four years late, but I cry when their dad goes on a drinking binge and starts having war flashbacks, so Tommy wraps his arms around him in the bed to calm him down and get him to sleep. Very emotional movie..
Yeah, it wasn't until Tommy saw his father as a broken man, helpless and lost, that room for compassion entered his heart.
Completely agree!
I cried like a little baby ! This movie is amazing
Why did I let April go. I sob. All the time. Great fiiilm
Made me cry at the end, I lost my dad many years ago when I was 18. My younger brother passed away a few years back after we kind of had a falling out. You never know what life is going to bring you so stay close and love your family
hell of a movie. Every guy whose watched this has cried. If you say you didn't your lying.
One of the best movies I have ever seen,Tom Hardy was absolutely incredible in it. I'm so excited for Dunkirk now.
Love is the pain, but is also the remedy. It makes wounds, but also heal wounds. Love breaks all, but can fix all. I kinda think that the hole MMA thing was a backstory to make context for a story about love, about family...
well said, hats off !!!
Wonderfully said my brother
A great song to jog to at 6 in the morning.
Found this on a blog, don't know the man's name or such but thought this was a pretty amazing interpretation of this song-
"This is the sunset of a relationship. All this because a man loves a woman."
duuuuude that text... is priceless :')
+Casey DeHaven From all of the things I've read from Matt, "how close am I to losing you" is not unrequited love, but death.
My friend you seem to have it exact
This song reminds me of my brother and father.
Truly a beautiful movie.
Anyone else listening in 2019???
To all the WARRIORS, where has the time gone????
08/13/19 and had this song on repeat for 30 min now😆
Right here
This song .. helped me through a very hard time in life .. a huge fight with my father .. it’s all good now but this song was the soundtrack
Yup, because music doesn't have an expiration date.
Yeah, it's a beautiful song.
I lost my best friend in the whole world at the time I first heard this song. The end sums up my emotions at the time. I lost him. This song gives me strength and at the same time makes me crumble.
One for the road
Excellent Movie....Excellent Work by Tom Hardy.... And the Music is...Oh man...!!!
Just love this movie... gonna watch again and again....
I can watch this movie a thousand times and still feel the same emotions I always felt. Hits deep within. One of the greatest movies ever, so sad it wasn't a box office smash. EVERYONE I tell to watch this movie can not believe they haven't heard of it or seen it. No one has never not loved it
I am sorry Tommy...
I am sorry tommy...
"I love you"
i love this movie.. its sad.. i cried each time i've seen it... but that just show how good it is..
me too :(
One of the few movies that touched me like it did- so raw, so incredible. I have to admit this was one of the only movies I did not want the underdog (Edgerton) to win in, just because the direction, character development... literally everything was tear wrenching.
No importa cuántas veces vea la película. Siempre me hará llorar. Y la canción ayuda.
The tears don't stop falling! Resonates so closely to my heart!!! Life's hard thank you for this song
A short time before my beloved mom passed away this song came on I had never heard it before and all through the song I could not stop looking at her thinking what on earth would I do without her in my life.
RIP to your mom.
Awe I hope you told her that ❤️
I'm 23 years old and I still cried like a little girl when this came on :(
I'm 38 and probably cried harder 🤣😭
Crazy. I’m reading this at 23 years old and seeing your comment is from 9years ago when you were my age. Music truly is timeless
@@osamamahmud9391wow, exactly same boat right now
This movie aged like a fine wine.
I was not expecting it to be so good, came out of nowhere. My favorite movie.
Got into martial arts as a kid and got this movie for Christmas. Great movie
I find myself here way too often
Emanuel Perez Same!
Emanuel Perez same
Me too sensei killer 😭
Anyone else realizes Warrior started off with "Start a War" by the Nationals and then ended with this. That hit me hard when watching the movie
I cant even explain, how this song just gets to me. Its so powerful, it really is.
hearing this after maybe a decade and it still doesn't stop those flood of emotions that came through when i first watched this movie.
this will live on forever
This song is so beautiful. For me, it brings up memories of sitting with my father, as he was dying. Thank you for this song.
Until you both meet again brother...🙏
My kid brother committed suicide August 2022 . This song was special to us both, so when planning his funeral and the family asked my opinion about what the music should be I didn't eveb need to think about it and this song was playing as we carried him in the day after his birthday. R.I.P Matt and I will see you when I get there x
Why did he do it...
I really don't know. He had been reclusive for a long time and developed an alcohol and drug problem, he was the type to keep everything to himself and shut everybody out. He didn't leave a noteam to help us understand. He was just deeply unhappy and had been for years
Wow, totally sucks...
I can't stop listening to this song. Love the movie Warrior that this song ended the movie. Ahhh so good!
I just love the text. Becouse it is sometimes as true as it's funny (or sad?) :)
i have been crying for months listening to this song, i cant see the fun in the lyrics
It’s awesome! 👍🏻
One of my top fav movies
This song resonates with me in the movie I cry every time. Still I come back to revisit that movie moment and this song.
Love Tom Hardy❤
i loved this film. so many lessons i learned just from watching!!!
To just Frozen lost my Dad last month. Thought I would have more time, but fixed most things. Time to let go, move on. My Dad knew I loved him........
Denise Pascal peace and love for your dearly departed Father's soul miss
lost mine to suicide few years back youll get through it man
This song brings up so much emotions to me. Found out devastating news about my wife's health and brings me to tears. I'm not much of one to show emotion but this song does it. Not trying to sound like a sob story but everybody has a story. Some greater than others. Just remember there's always an ending.
Lost my grandma last year, hurts more this year. Raised by grandma and I couldn’t give a text in the past couple years. I couldn’t see her one last time. But I know she’s in a better place. Definitely better than anything here
👍
It pains me how underrated this movie is. Damn, a movie hasn't made me feel the way this movie has made me feel in a long time.
The most perfect non-mainstream movies are underrated, unfortunately.
Lovely band. My heart gets warmer every time i listen to them.
Best movie of 2011 for me, for sure. Very underrated movie that captured my heart instantly and still does to this day
I told a friend about this movie a couple years ago. He asked me what it was about and he rolled his eyes thinking it was going to be something like Bloodsport with JVCD.
Still my favorite movie, and my favorite song in this movie! ❤️😭
My wife fell in love with me when we watched this movie together. For that alone it's in my top ten.
Seriously man, that’s beautiful.
you meant top 1? Haha.
Family is everything, isn't it....
for all means brh
it definitely is.
The pain we feel is one from abandonment and how we channel this energy - I’ve been lucky, my brother was my role model when my father passed, although he never was on my side at times of need, I knew he loved me. My brothers outside blood I will never forget
My son introduced me to this film.I cryed like a baby ,and still do when I hear this song.
Damn good movie. This film pulls at ur heartstrings like crazy. Definitely one of the best films I've ever seen
i have depression in my life and only thing that helps me is watching this movie.
keep your chin up depression is awfull
We're all in this together. You got this...
I had it too and this movie helped me. Seek Jesus he is real and loves you. I never believed he could care for me but if you seek with a sincere heart you will find him.
Whatever storm you were going through, I hope it’s passed. Sending you my love bro ❤️
Never thought it was possible but I admit I cried at the end. This song is just perfect for the ending.
Man. I used to be a high level wrestler in the NCAA. I dabbled in MMA in a few amateur fights. This is one of the best storylines in an MMA movie. Reminds me of me and my older brother who taught me how to wrestle.
Just saw warrior...way better than any Rocky film and I almost cried one or two times...keep making movies like this one
ooooh, right in the feels!
Every time this comes on my playlist at work... come on man, keep it together...
One of the best movies I've ever seen!
I have the habit to read comments while listening song and while reading comments of this song I was like please no bad comments and trust me guys you will hardly find any.... It is obvious such a masterpiece movie and song should only deserve good comments :-)
Beautiful song; Beautiful movie; had a lump in my throat throughout the film!
