Sorry about the re-upload. The video had still a small, yet major error left in it, so I decided to take it down and edit it for a bit. I apologise for the inconvenience.
Let me guess, some personal information you forgot to censor? Dont worry about it, it wasnt gone for that long (and I can also feel like an absolute pro fan because I did actually see the first upload)
Yep, forgot to censor the information that's displayed on the photo of the box XD (Too bad I actually created another error by removing the previous one so.. I really just wanna jump off a cliff now)
Yuunarii I'd totally love to see a few more videos for a few of different little niches and details of proxy shopping. (Especially if ZenMarket decided to sponsor you for one of them...)
this was EXTREMELY helpful to me! i have been wondering how people are able to buy such cute and exclusive japanese merchandise when they don't live in japan so watching this video was a dream come true! i'm worried for my wallet, but thank you so much! also, you had me cracking up at some points! love your artwork and your sense of humor!
I never knew proxy shopping was a thing until now. I learned something new today thanks! Also, from one fellow youtube animator to another, you got awesome content yo! =)
Very thanks by this explanatory video, now i feel more confortable in start buying japan stuff, for a Brazilian is kinda painful make orders from other countries so i really appreciate the effort on this video.
shipping prices have always scared me, especially when ordering from america (a small package costs like 80 bucks to get here), but this video has made me feel a little more confident, so i can try ordering stuff i’ve looked at for ages soon
Ah no need to worry about shipping prices!! As long as you don't order very heavy weighing stuff, and use a cheap shipping method you're good. I always manage to keep my parcels under the 2.5 kilo weight limit and I usually pay between 10 and 18 euro of shipping (depending on the weight) Which isn't a lot at all considering I consolidate at least 3 items or more into a single parcel.
Thanks Yuunarii. I've had my eyes on that one acrylic Clownpiece keychain on Amiami for a while now. Since I've never actually bought anything online aside from some Touhou nendoroids from local online stores. Great video 👌. I really needed this.
Holy bloody duck fuck. I heard buying stuff from Japan was tricky but that was fucking ridiculous. Major props to you for making this video for everyone. I'm way too lazy to deal with that so I'll just grab my shit at the conventions I go to.
Tbh it's not that hard once you get used to the process. It just takes a while for the item to get to you, due to the many buffers and other parties involved. But in the end, if you want to save money (and decrease the risk of buying bootlegs), it's very much worth it ^^ And thank you ^^
Cool to see a fellow Dutchie use Zenmarket. It's also the company I ended up at after having used many different proxy services over several years. The first automated bidding site I used was FromJapan. It was, and is, great but did not suffice for me since I realized I wanted to buy 18+ material as well sometimes. Thus I looked for other automatic proxy bidding sites and ended up at Noppin. They, however, at one point stopped their 'undervaluing' service', so I had to wave goodbye to that one too. Then I found J-Subculture, the last one which I used for a long time in conjunction with FromJapan, as they were a bit more expensive iirc and had uncancellable sniper bids. They had great and helpful customer support though, really saving my ass by negotiating and then cancelling a won bid by a deceitful seller, even if it was against their company policy. However, shortly after that, they just completely screwed over everything by, for some ungodly reason, only allowing one to add deposit to their account by literal bank transfers through some weird third party site or whatnot. Basically it was slow and only made it feasible to deposit hundreds of $ at a time. Yeah, I was not going to bother with that crap. I then luckily found Zenmarket and they're still the only one I know of that do all 3 of the things I value the most: 1) Allowing manual undervaluing of your parcels, 2) automatic bidding, 3) allow 18+ material (yeah I know, it's a category I use sometimes). To be honest, 3) is the reason I opted to use Zenmarket over FJ. If you don't need 18+ support, FJ is about on par with ZenMarket I'd say. One plus of FJ is that they offer very a very cheap (but slow) shipping option, 'Surface Small Packet', which ZenMarket does not. In fact I just placed a shopping order through FJ for the first time in over a year for that reason. edit: another plus of FromJapan, is that they have an automatic deposit withdrawal system, while Zenmarket's is manual and thus takes some time. Wew, that's quite a wall of text. Just had to vent a bit I guess :p
I just wanted to say that thanks to this video, I started using zen market and I love it! This video was big help! 💕 Also, I've found out that using proxy shopping sometimes isn't possible. For example, if you want to buy Levi re-release, i think It's the best to purchase it from goodsmile company sides, since even on second hands sites is price four times higher (Levi at goodsmile company cost 5500¥ and the cheapest one on surugaya cost 18000¥) ofc the price Will get higher w goodsmile company (i think you'll pay Abt 7500¥ w shipping) and plus customs.. but ofc, even w zenmarket you won't avoid customs as well 😅 This isn't any hate or something! I just wanted to share my experiences!💕💕
If you are shipping many doujin albums from Japan, it would be highly recommended to choose EMS option to ensure your packages in the small possibility that it gets lost in the mail
True, though SAL small packages are insured as well, but only up to 6000 yen yeah.. So far non of my packages have gone missing though. (plus EMS is hella expensive)
I can't believe I haven't seen this vid before :O you actually inspired me to look up US proxy services, and they exist! I already gave up ordering from the US, considering that often times shipping costs more than the actual item...
This saved me, I didn't know where to even start and this helped out so much! Good humor and a easy to follow tutorial too! Thanks for the help, I'll be using zenmarket from now on!
Hey! I just saw your "college" video, and I loved it! your art style is nice, editing is pretty clean, awesome humor, and a pretty chill voice. You have gained one more sub!
Good thing I bought Christmas gifts early this year. I don't think my family would be happy if all I had to give was touhou plushes 🎁😭. Thanks for another great video, can't wait to start ordering.
I recently bought a package which is in pre-order and have been extremely paranoid about whether it will arrive safely or not, but this video is really reassuring. Thank you :)
Oh congrats on your preorder!! No worries though, I've pre ordered some figures using Zenmarket before and they'll always sent you an email when the pre order item has arrived at their warehouse. You can then dispatch it the same way like any other item you buy using them.
Stellar work as always. One thing that was left a bit unclear for me was whether or not you get tax hammered (like I always do when I order) when using proxy services though, could you tell us your experiences regarding that?
-Tbh I avoided talking about that part a little as I don't want my video to be flagged for breaking UA-cam's guideliness XD- Yeah sure ^^ Well.. Like I mentioned in the video; usually you can import goods from foreign countries tax free (and import fee free), up to a certain value. This threshold varies from country to country though, but.. Generally this value lays somewhere between $20 and $25 Some proxy shopping services allow you to change the declared value of the contents of the package, while others do not. Technically this is illegal to do, hence why some services do not allow you to edit this value. So.. As long as the value of your package is underneath that threshold, you won't have to pay extra taxes or other charges once the package arrives to your country. So yeah, personally I always just make sure my package is valued less than the max amount you can import tax-free XD
I recently got a craving to buy some Tohou discs and remembered your video Yuuna, I placed the order and waiting for zenmarket to get them, wish me luck ^.^ .....now, If only my pc actually had a CD drive...

I'm going to have 3 items for my first parcel! 2 already in warehouse, 1 is still on its way to warehouse (5 days, still counting) -- so excited! I hope it will arrive safely >
I never leave comments on videos but I absolutely had to after watching this. You could have just done a simple screen capture explaining the steps and the video still would've been more then enough. But the extra editing and memes had me weezing🤣 haven't laughed like that in a while. Thanks so much for the guide I've been trying to get aot nendoroids but had no idea about proxy shopping till now but now I know where to go
You're doing a good job in balancing your educational vids between being funny elaxing and informative\smart. Great work! :) Also goddammit, if only I've seen this video like a year ago it would help me to save a considerable amount of money...
-finally got around to watching this- but very nice, I thought the editing -and memes- were very well done! The video took a while, but you definetly spent time on it 👍
a recommendation! its better to order multiple things in a box instead of just one single thing. bc for example if you buy 100 small trinkets and the shipping is 100 dollars then technically that will mean 1 dollar for every trinket, but if you buy just 1 thing in a box the shipping can be 10-30 dollars for js that one thing!
Ahh thank you so much for this tutorial aha. :> I've been buying from plazajapan (mostly pokemon merch) but it's nice to know you get can merch for cheaper :O! I also love the effort you put into editing your videos
This video is everything. And I love ur humor too. Omg I felt in love with u 😮💨 if u can make an update on 2022 if any changes. That’ll be awesome! Keep up girl ☺️
Depending on where you are from (e.g. U.S.) AmiAmi has no custom fees, so anyone from the US is more than welcome to order AmiAmi at their own comfort. As for Canadians or people from other nations, not so well.
I'm guessing the threshold for importing tax and duty-free items is a lot higher in America in that case. Lucky XD Over here the maximum value for importing non-EU items tax and duty-free is 22 euros ($26).
I've never heard of proxy shopping until now. Thanks. But ah, yes, customs fees. I bought a phone case from Society6 for 12e once and Dutch customs smacked me with a 20e fee. Thanks... Glad I found out Society6 will refund you said fee once. Made my trip between Nijmegen and Eindhoven productive, haha.
1) Was the part around the end of 1:34 where the audio cut out for a few seconds intentional? I'm not entirely sure. 2) Was the date displayed on the webpage at 11:45 anywhere around the time you started making the video? (I feel like it'd be helpful to keep that as a reference.) 3) Overall, really great and informative video! ^_^
1) God fucking dammit. seems like I made another error when fixing the previous error.. Oww welp, lets just hope people think their internet fucked up for a second XD 2) yep
i like that disclaimer, if i could be as efficient as that in real life, i wouldn't wish there were 50 hours in a day so i can do work and work on the things i love
I would totally use that page but I'm not sure how it would work since I live in Mexico. Personally I use a proxy but it's not a proxy company. Is an actual person. I contact him and he does the thing. I just pay. I did my calculations and I pay like... 20% more but... I have no paypal or credit card and a lot of other stuff so.... Yeah.
Hmm.. I believe there are other paying methods you can use in order to add funds to your account, though tbh setting up a Paypal is really easy. Oww and they do ship to Mexico. Having a personal proxy is pretty awesome though :D
6:30 It's not that hard to learn how to read kana (ひらがな/). I'm learning Japanese and I used an app called Tinycards, which is a flash card app, to learn them. It took me only a few months to get somewhat proficient. Though I guess I've been passively trying learning them for something like two decades.
Proxy shopping is so IT ish... Let's call this Weeaboo Lifting, it refers to all of us who are trying to getting Japanese, ACG goods out to the western world.
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I was also wondering what the song name is at 13:10? I can tell it's a remix of Utsuho Reiuji's theme but I'm unsure of which one it is.
So I heard about ZenMarket, wanted to learn more and found your video. Although I found it very helpful and nicely animated, as a fellow Dutchman I would like to ask you something about changing the declared value of the package. I’m aware that according to our law, if I import anything outside of the European Union, I need to pay taxes if the value of the package (including shipping cost) is more than €22,00. According the exchange rates of the our national tax authorities, this would be 22 x 134,16 = 2.951,52 in yen. At 14:08 you’re hinting to pay attention to the total value of the package, and I can see a “Change” button, but can I just click it and use it to change the values of the content of the package, so that the total amount becomes less than the maximum tax-free import value? The only downside to this I would think of is that, if the package takes damage during shipping, I am only insured for the value that’s on labeled the package. So if this happens, I would receive less money than I actually paid. I’m sorry this comment got kinda long, but I’m curious and would like to know! :)
Yep, you change the declared value to any amount you like. This will however cost you a couple extra yen. And as far as I know: nope. ZenMarket will refund all money of the content's real value, in case your parcel gets lost. The only exception being the SAL small package option (which I personally use). With this option the max amount of refund you can get is 6000 yen. I've never had any of my parcels get lost though (have ordered 10 parcels so far from them).
Thanks for the reply. I also asked ZenMarket about this and they told me that the extra fee you have to pay only is about 1-3% of the difference between the real and the lowered value. They also said that you only receive a full refund if the package is lost, but only the declared value if it got damaged. Another thing they told me though is that if customs asks for documents, they won't be able to help me and are not responsible for problems that might occur. Did you ever had any problems with customs yourself?
True yep. Nope never. Tbh I don't think you won't really get into much trouble for this. Unless you of course decide to buy some super expensive accessory (a watch for example), and list the item's value to be 500 yen. In that case perhaps customs might get a little suspicious. But overall I wouldn't worry too much. I also usually limit my parcels to about 3 items or so, to prevent my parcel's value from going over the 6000 yen refund limit (for SAL small packet).
Alright, thanks for your reassurance. The reason why I was a little hesitated was because I got screwed when I bought something from China on Alibaba.com once. Although the seller did included an invoice which included the price of the items, they forgot to write down the shipping cost. In the end I had to pay DHL almost 50% of the original package price, which kinda sucked. xD Anyway, I ordered a couple of items to try out their service and I hope they will arrive soon. :D
Great video. Informative and entertaining. I am planning on using zenmarket for the first time but before i do i have 2 questions. After you put in the url to the item you want to buy a page pops up and at the bottom you can get a estimated shipping price. Is this price accurate? Also when i add funds, is it instant or does it take a day for the funds to show up?
Thank you!! And that's great to hear. The domestic shipping is just an estimate, usually quite accurate though!! International shipping will highly depend on how heavy your pracel is and what method you choose. So shipping there can easily range from 900 yen to 3000+ yen. I know creditcard and PayPal are instant. I haven't personally used any of the other deposit methods.
@Yuunarii HI, me again. I made sure the shipping price I looked at was the international one and the estimated international shipping says ¥3,245. So even though I put in how much the item weigh and chose my carrier the price can still change?
@@Cartoonjoker15 Ah I'm guessing for the estimated calculation they chose EMS as shipping method. That's generally a more expensive option. Depending on your country you do have cheaper options!! Usually they're restricted to smaller sized parcels. If you want to have a look at what shipping methods are available for your country, there's a tab to the sidebar on ZenMarket that says "how much will it cost". There you can type in how much your parcel weighs (or you can estimate it yourself) and what country you live in. It'll then show you what methods are available for you and how much it'll cost. In case you need any reference, CDs usually total to about 100 grams or so. Nendoroids are about 500 grams. And scale figures can easily go up to 2500+ grams.
**G A S P** NO HALF A-PRESS REPLIES?! Well, TJ / """"""""""""Henry"""""""""""" Yoshi. A half a-press is a half a-press. You can't say it's only a full.
I actually see that you like very good YT channels, I saw you also in raocow's videos, you follow really good channels (no panenkoek jokes cause I know it can be stressing).
lol ben jij Nederlands. If so: je maakt hele goede ge-animeerde video's. I have subbed to you! You deserve way more subs then you have right now. Well, I will stay here, bye!
now that's a tutorial thanks a lot for this tutorial i bought once from rakuten directly with their normal shipping service. and i can totally agree with you. the price fucking skyrocketed. this will be very useful so i wont end up doing the same again
Sorry about the re-upload. The video had still a small, yet major error left in it, so I decided to take it down and edit it for a bit.

I never leave comments on videos but I absolutely had to after watching this. You could have just done a simple screen capture explaining the steps and the video still would've been more then enough. But the extra editing and memes had me weezing🤣 haven't laughed like that in a while. Thanks so much for the guide I've been trying to get aot nendoroids but had no idea about proxy shopping till now but now I know where to go
My Lordy I love this channel sooo much!! 💜 it’s so freaking adorable and enjoyable along with being funny as hell
Thank you very much ^^
Man, I love your voice and also the anime references are on point
Your humor and memes and references are on point. Love it!
Thank you :D
Hey, thanks for this! I didn't know about this at all and now I might be able to get something I've been looking to get for ages! Thanks.
You're doing a good job in balancing your educational vids between being funny
elaxing and informative\smart. Great work! :)
Also goddammit, if only I've seen this video like a year ago it would help me to save a considerable amount of money...
Thank you very much ^^
Ah I would love for a video where you give tips. I’ve been wanting to do proxy shopping, but didn’t know where to start so thanks for this video
No problem at all ^^
-finally got around to watching this-
but very nice, I thought the editing -and memes- were very well done! The video took a while, but you definetly spent time on it 👍
Thank you very much ^^
literally my struggle lmao. thank you so much for this video! you're so adorable!!
a recommendation! its better to order multiple things in a box instead of just one single thing. bc for example if you buy 100 small trinkets and the shipping is 100 dollars then technically that will mean 1 dollar for every trinket, but if you buy just 1 thing in a box the shipping can be 10-30 dollars for js that one thing!
I like how you did your Corporate Commander impression! "I don't need it!" XD
Tbh it was a Spongebob reference but... Fair enough XD
Ahh thank you so much for this tutorial aha. :> I've been buying from plazajapan (mostly pokemon merch) but it's nice to know you get can merch for cheaper :O! I also love the effort you put into editing your videos
Your content is quality. Your hardwork shows!
The artstyle is so cute
Me:*sees this vid and clicks
Yu:*says disclaimer so fast*
Me:WOAH WOAH HOLD ON HOLD ON!!!!!!
This video is everything. And I love ur humor too. Omg I felt in love with u 😮💨 if u can make an update on 2022 if any changes. That’ll be awesome! Keep up girl ☺️
Aww thank you very much!!
Bless your heart for making this...! I've been looking for a complete guide because I'm too afraid to do it on my own.
I hope the tutorial was helpful :D
* reads title *
step one: *have the fuckin money*
omg that pachirisu is sooo cute owo
Depending on where you are from (e.g. U.S.) AmiAmi has no custom fees, so anyone from the US is more than welcome to order AmiAmi at their own comfort. As for Canadians or people from other nations, not so well.
I'm guessing the threshold for importing tax and duty-free items is a lot higher in America in that case. Lucky XD
Over here the maximum value for importing non-EU items tax and duty-free is 22 euros ($26).
This was a great tutorial. I never knew about proxy shopping.
hahahaha you are so funny. This is the first video that I watch. I love how you edited it :) New suscriptor!
Awww thanks!!
1) Was the part around the end of 1:34 where the audio cut out for a few seconds intentional? I'm not entirely sure.
2) Was the date displayed on the webpage at 11:45 anywhere around the time you started making the video? (I feel like it'd be helpful to keep that as a reference.)
3) Overall, really great and informative video! ^_^
1) God fucking dammit. seems like I made another error when fixing the previous error.. Oww welp, lets just hope people think their internet fucked up for a second XD
2) yep
Mind telling me, then, what you said that got cut out?
"So.. you can't really blame them"
Love the spongebob reference. I've seen that scene too many xD. Good vid too.
finally i can get my touhou merch. thank you yuunarii. this helps me a lot
No problem ^^
OML thank you 🙏 I’m like a sonic collector and most of the merch I’m looking for are in Japanese sites. Now I’m gonna try this
Good luck!!
i like that disclaimer, if i could be as efficient as that in real life, i wouldn't wish there were 50 hours in a day so i can do work and work on the things i love
How's the shit in Mexico? I remember hearing that 5 people (i think) were found hung on bridges. Hello from the golden state
It would probably be raided by the cartels
this video saved me from buying an old nendoroid (nendoroid 149 Kurisu, to be exact) on shady ebay lmao
many thanks 🙏
Definatly the best tutorial.
The moment the dekafumo Cirno was mentioned I looked to my left to look at mine.......I have no regrets.
Thank you very much for making this, I now know it’s legit, now I can buy Touhou figures myself!!
No problem ^^
6:30 It's not that hard to learn how to read kana (ひらがな/). I'm learning Japanese and I used an app called Tinycards, which is a flash card app, to learn them. It took me only a few months to get somewhat proficient. Though I guess I've been passively trying learning them for something like two decades.
I love how Yuu uses memes and coarse language. xD
nicesu!
Arigato
Weeb merch
*detected*
Edit, thank you so much for posting this
Proxy shopping is so IT ish... Let's call this Weeaboo Lifting, it refers to all of us who are trying to getting Japanese, ACG goods out to the western world.
I don't know if you've ever been told this, but I think your voice is really cute! ^-^
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I was also wondering what the song name is at 13:10? I can tell it's a remix of Utsuho Reiuji's theme but I'm unsure of which one it is.
Ah that's "artillery firere (warning)" by Foxtail-grass studio
@@Yuunarii thank you so much! i didnt expect you to reply to a 4 year-old video but thank you
New favorite animation youtuber. Says fuck and doesn't care about it.
For those who don't know the conversion, 100 yen is about, ABOUT, 1 USD.
Please please PLEASE make a separate video about your proxy shipping tips.
Thank you for creating - So easy to understand- Tutorial video 😊💐
No problem at all!
10:22 Really love the easter eggs in your vids!
@@Yuunarii OK. Thank you!
@Yuunarii Awesome, thank you again!
Thank you, for this video. I've always wanted stuff like this!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
13:40 Dammit Yuu! you played me like a fiddle!
