- We tested Toyota RAV4 Hybrid 4x4 on our rollers. Is it as bad, as it Lexus brothers? Or does the now legendary RAV4 stand out? Let´s find out.

I wish there was someone out here who could tune the AWD system to work differently :(
I REALLY wish Toyota and Subaru would come together and make a great AWD hybrid/plug-in hybrid SUV =/
thanks for taking the time to do this, so I know my car better.
Definitely not an AWD or 4WD or a Trail SUV, it's a city hybrid car with eco tires.
I have a 2024 rav4 awdi and it handles the driveway in deep snow great. I have very good winter tires of course.
Such a bad result is quite surprising for a company which released with the Land Cruiser and offroad legend.
It's made for a different purpose
The test exposed all marketing lies of the RAV4 hybrid
Pretty good in the trail mode. For 99.99% of the situations, it's great for reliability and great fuel economy. For the 0.01%, get the best winter tires and don't go in a Land Cruiser territory. Let's not forget that there is no perfect car, each has its own advantages and disadvantages. Like there's no perfect tire...
Toyota Highlander hybrid has a more advanced AWD software - even though the powertrain is similar, then Land Cruiser is one of the kings, so there are plenty of options, everything costs money and there's a trade off with everything. Let's also not forget that no AWD/4x4 system can overcome ground clearance and appropriate tires.
Nothing costs money, all they have to do is activate the brakes on the slipping wheels and the open diff would send torque to the wheel with traction. They just didn't care, the car is bad.
That looks pretty bad. How does that compare to other 4wd SUVs?
With other AWD maybe, 4WD is a different mechanism
@@zmirc The gas rav4 is a different animal and quite good.
Does the gas version get thru the last two tests successfully?
Everything could have been fixed with LSD!
My fart has more power than that rear electric motor.
If you are so worried about the cases where only 1 wheel has traction, get a different true AWD car or get a set of winter tires. For most of the real world driving, it is not a real problem. If it snowed or is cold too much, just stay home, regardless of whatever car you have.
lol. some of us wait for snow to go skiing, camping. You need a capable car to get you there and back
you listen to what to say? "just stay home"??? what's the point buying a AWD car for then dick
Can you do the same test for 2020 Highlander V6? The one that's with a regular AWD
What brand rollers were used?
Suzuki a cross is the same car how can be so much better?
Amazing is the suzuki acros did everything without any problems and that is the same car !!
normal hybrid vs plug-in hybrid, more battery power to drain from
@@zmirc This isn't a power problem, you have no clue.
Looks like it's old 4wd, rav 2020 and 2021 in some countries has a new 4wd and it should pass roller test
none of those Toyota hybrid with the 10HP rear motor can pass
@@723lionrear motor is not 10hp, its 40hp and 110 torque! And just so you know rav4 hybrid after 2021 reprogrammed logic passes roller test.
Toyota needs to fix this. So ridiculous
Thanks, awesome testing! Looks pretty good for normal daily driving like starting from icy stop. Good job by Toyota indeed. Rav4 usually fails in off road tests and if you compare other similar cars it's usually worst off road car.
Test the tiguan
Any "AWD" system that can't pull with only one wheel getting traction is dogshit. It means the project managers just couldn't give a shit about building the car properly. Hard pass.
This must be a problem that for some reason the toyota's brain doesn't acknowledge the rollers, i mean there's NO way that a company launches a car with such a bad traction control i mean they must have tested it
I hated the rav4 hybrid when i test drove it..
Shame on Toyota.
as bad as it gets
as weak as usual
this awd is garbage
