Deciding it was time to have chickens on the property, I spent a lot of time researching and re-learning. The coop was a big part of those studies. Not willing to pay for the amazing pro-built coops, I've been building my own. I have tools and skills enough to do the work, but had NO idea how involved this project would become. So... Great job on your design and execution. I respect and appreciate how much went into your hen house and run. It's amazing! Thank you for sharing your work.
@@ranchlife5050 ohhh my I have to go there tomorrow for my girls and im going to see if they have any , thank you beautiful, now if I could get my husband to make me a coop lol now do you use their waste for fertilizer, I have been putting the waste in a container and hopefully I can use it next spring for my lawn, I only have 5 girls egg layers, in my backyard and I love them
It depends- my coop is really too small for my 10 chickens and 7 guineas! But they are now free-ranging all day, so they only return to the coop to sleep. From what I've read, a coop should have a minimum of 2-3 square feet per chicken, and a run with a minimum of 10 to 12 square feet per chicken.
@@ranchlife5050 I only have 5 chickens and I got them for the eggs, and I have anxiety and I have them as my emotional support animals, I live in a township and I love spending time with my girls, but I do need to make them a wooden coop,, hubby said we have all the supplies just waiting on him lol , I could be waiting a long time for him, hell I’m still waiting for him to build my Hope Chest he promised before we got married lol and yesterday (8-8-1985 ) was our anniversary lol

@@kathymaurer3123 I'd like to use the waste for fertilizer, but I'm not doing that yet. I will at some point.😊
So I need a coop for only 5 chickens what size do you recommend for me
