Looking back at the melodious era of 50s and 60s, it is an absolutely brilliant and mesmerizing duet by Rafi and Asha! The dreamy and magical composition by Ravi simply takes one's heart away to an ethereal world. The listener is attracted by the sweet, introductory prelude as well as the brilliantly arranged interval pieces of music.The beautiful rhythm of the song enhances one's mood and elevates the listener to a romantic world. The melody, the prelude, the interludes, and the rhythm, all are beautifully balanced. While listening to this melodious duet, one enters into a dreamland of orchestration which is soft, sweet and soothing. The lyrics, likewise are profoundly beautiful.
"Baadalon se duur, aur bhi hai ik jahaan".
"Ye muskuraataa chaand, ye jagmagaati raat,
keh rahi hai gungunaa ke, do dilon ki baat,
Hai gulon pe nikhaar, aajaa chhedein dil ke taar,
pyaar ke taraane milkay gaayein saath-saath".....
these lovely words, and some others in this song depict nature in all its glamour and one feels like escaping into some other world, far away. It reminds of a similar song by Kishore Kumar
"Aa chal ke tujhe main leke chalon
ik aese gagan ke tale, jahan gham bhi na hon,
aanso bhi na hon, bas pyaar hi pyaar pale,
Ik aese gagan ke tale
or still another,
"Chota sa ghar ho gaa badalon ki chaon mein".
The desire of the loving hearts to go far away from this world, in a quest to find another "jahaan" where only love prevails, has always been a dream in the movies and imagination of lyric writers, expressed in several songs but very well covered in this one. No doubt, such songs representing grace of human sentiments and filled with romance, purity and innocence will always be remembered and will never lose their charm and charisma.
One likes to sing such hypnotizing melodies to revive them and keep them alive so that the newer generation knows how melodious was the music once upon a time.
In this attempt, Miss Shanzay Salman is a co singer with me in my humble endeavor. She is a bright student who has received training in singing, sitar playing and acting at the Alhamra Arts Complex, Lahore. She was guided by Ustaad Saleem Khan to play sitar, has performed at ‘Doha International Music Festival’ and across various colleges and competitions in Lahore. She is a talented artist with varied intellectual interests and a strong educational background. She did her B.A.(Hons.) from Beaconhouse National University, Lahore. The following are a few more glimpses of her glorious achievements.
*Embarked upon an academic road trip to Hunza to observe educational practices and teaching methods at a primary learning center in Karimabad, concluding in a 3-hour long mountainous trek up to Fairy Meadows.
*Performed in plays for ‘Pakistan Youth Festival’ and in Comedy Competitions.
*Represented LGS, in debates on National and International issues/policies.
*Volunteered as writer/researcher for WWF’S magazine ‘Natura’
*She is interested in Yoga, Dance, Folk Literature,Travelling, Sustainable Development
Programs etc.,
*She is good at Languages: Urdu (Native), English (Fluent), Punjabi (Basic), French (Basic)
Singing and Playing Musical Instruments specially Sitar, however, stand out as her strongest passion. I am sure she will one day create a name in music. I wish her success and hope viewers will like her brilliant attempt as a co singer in this duet cover.

Jagjit ji, I appreciate your view that it is a very melodious song made by Ravi ji. You are right that Shanzay has sung it most beautifully. She has received training in singing and sitar playing at the Alhamra Art Council, Lahore.
This song is a marvellous melody composed under the baton of great Music Director Ravi Sahib. He was the creator of some ethereal songs which I have always loved, like,
Ye raatein ye mousam nadi ka kinara, In hawaon mein in fizaon mein, Ye hawa ye nadi ka kinara, Chalo ik baar phir se ajnabi ban jayein hum donon etc.

Looking at the special quality of her voice I encouraged her to sing this melodious duet which is my old favorite. She has sung it very brilliantly. She sings Faiz’s ghazals like, “Dasht e Tanhai Mein” and several other songs immaculately. I wish her success in her future plans specially with respect to music.
