First of all, I enjoyed your thoroughness in your review presentation. That being said I think you beat the non-stereo sound to death. I find it a non-issue simply because you cannot get good quality stereo sound with speakers an inch and a half apart. Stereo sound requires the separation of the left and right channels by much more than that... I am changing from an iphone xr to this Motorola simply because I want a 5G device and I don't want to spend $1200 to do it! For under $300 with this device, I think I will be happy. Time will tell!

The stereo audio is a big deal. My old 2020 Moto G Stylus had good stereo audio, and I could really notice sound separation from video viewing distance. Too bad it got destroyed in an electric bike wreck...

I just upgraded from a Motorola g6 to the Motorola One 5G Ace and I have to say, so far, I am pleased. The amount of internal storage is impressive and it's pretty fast. Also, I go it on a super sale for about $300 CAD. The only thing I found lacking is a protective rubber case like the one I got when I purchased the g6. Otherwise, I think I made a good buy here.

I had a Pixel 5A and returned it when I switched carriers. I picked up this One 5G Ace- half as expensive as the Pixel 5A, but, I like the motorola more! It's snappier than the Pixel, and like you said, keeps the gimmicks to a minimum. The battery is great. There are a few things I'd like to change- not having to unlock the screen every time I wake the phone, for example. But for a couple hundred bucks, I think it's a great value.

  • @ArtofServer
    @ArtofServer 3 роки тому +9

I'm happy that the bezel isn't as thin as other phones. I find thin bezels are cosmetic and look great, but practically are a pain because holding the phone by the edge causes unintended actions. absolutely sucks if you're playing a shooter game and it accidentally freezes the game while you're getting shot at it to confirm whether you want to exit the game. I love the practicality of the large battery. Sad about the stereo audio though...

The lack of stereo speakers is a bit disappointing, but considering this phone was free when switching to T-Mobile, I can say without a doubt that it's the most premium-feeling phone I've had, in terms of build quality and specs. The speaker that it does utilize is very punchy, and doesn't sound "tinny" like all others I've had in the past, even when those models had stereo speakers.
The cameras are great, the haptic feedback and vibration motors are very solid and distinct, and the lack of a Google Assistant button is a definite plus, for me at least.
My last device was a Nokia g300, and the extra 2GBs of ram and bump from a 4 series to a 7 series Snapdragon chip is a night and day difference! You will absolutely *not* be disappointed with this phone, if you need a no-nonsense device.

I've been a motorola customer for years. I am in agreement that their new phones that have gone away from stereo speakers is a huge disappointment. I just purchased the TCL 20 Pro 5g and was also a Motorola user for years. My personal experience with the TCL is the inscreen fingerprint sensor is abysmal, I added a screen protector and now the keyboard barely registers, face unlock would not recognize my face apparently beards must throw it off. I'm a Total Wireless user running on Verizon towers in my area and the TCL won't receive texts neither mine or my wife's. Anyway I plan on returning the TCL' s I got one for my wife too and plan on purchasing the Motorola one 5g Ace to replace the TCL. Just an FYI.

Mixed emotions on this One Ace 5G doubting spending $550-$600 CAD would make it a real worthy upgrade over my present Moto's - $300-$350 more than paid for G Power/Stylus (actually got both for what this will likely retail for here in Canada). Better SoC more RAM may be nice yet already own phone's that rival my present Motorola's in that department and truthfully, ain't making a huge difference in my day-to-day usage/life stepping down a few tiers. Last year's models w/stereo speakers are hard to beat, will be missed by those who had experienced them. Paying extra for 5G capabilities is a waist for me too, likely 1.5-2 years away yet where I live if not more, by that time we'd hunting for another device LOL. And really why Android 10!!! Was really hoping Motorola was going to launch "one" device this year that sparked my interest like G Power/Stylus did but so far nothing.

Just purchased this yesterday (it is early September 2022) for $220 at Best Buy on sale. Normally over $350 it said. On the box it said Feb 2022 as the date of release for the phone I bought. So far, it is great but I've not made a single call with it as I bought it for use in India using an Indian Airtel SIM. Oh, I could put my USA Spectrum Nano SIM to test the voice quality but I don't think I'll bother, I'm sure it is just fine! :) Compare this to a new Samsung S22+, which has wireless charging and dual SIMs (one eSIM and one Nano SIM) but is that worth the extra $800...user to decide I guess. I think those Cadillac phones are overpriced by about 30% at least. I predict that within 2 years, dual SIMs will be standard. Apparently an eSIM setup can allow 2 separate phones.

This is going to be a very unpopular opinion about this phone. I actually traded my Pixel 5 for this. Yes the Pixel 5 beats this in nearly every category for smartphones (Especially the camera) but this phone still has some physical features I missed with the P5. Notably the SD card slot and headphone jack.
Motorola definitely lags behind some of the competition but their phones are among the most practical. This phone being no exception. Still has the headphone jack, SD card slot, plenty powerful processor, big 5000 mAh battery, and the Moto Gestures. And the camera is surprisingly decent, kinda surprised the night mode is actually okay.
The only problem with the phone is the price. $400 for a phone shipping with Android 10 is ridiculous. Thankfully it is on sale for $350 right now. A good phone but the launch price is laughable.

After reading the reviews below this review I have to agree on a personal level with the guy who said that the surround speaker isn't that big of deal. I would assume the phone at least has Bluetooth capability and if so, its simply a matter of getting a Bluetooth speaker, that's what my husband has for his phone. The reason I'm not worried about the speaker is because I'm upgrading to this phone from a Galaxy Note 5. My biggest thing is battery life and whether or not it heats up when being used.

Just joined Verizon two years ago. I love them & received an iPhone 6s for like $5.00 a month. Literally, within one year, though, the iPhone began to have glitches. The battery doesn’t even last an hour sometimes. The endless updates make it impossible to have a phone for a long time because they actually make old phones obsolete on purpose.
I don’t know what happened to Apple over the years, it’s like they sold their soul. All they care about is money now. I thought the entire purpose of Apple was that they made amazing devices. Nope, I’m now shopping for another phone already.
The screen constantly goes pink or gets stripes. One thing that was good is that I dropped my iPhone in the washer & it was washed for about 5 minutes & still came out fine. My LG that I traded in lasted 6 years with zero memory or battery issues. May get the Motorola but I didn’t want to have to get on another phone payment plan already! Thanks for this video though.

I was looking for a 5G unlocked phone. I was looking at this one. You suggested running the benchmark, which I got 275 single and 1172 multi on my Moto G7 Plus. I have no idea what those scores mean, but the top one is much lower than the 5G Ace. I really miss the days when Motorola did have dual speakers, especially the Harmon Kardon in the Motorola HTC One. I liked that phone a lot since it was loud and I am hard in hearing. I really do hope that they start making phones with dual speakers. I mean, what's holding them back? Is it real estate space within the phone?

Hi, some of the cons you say are actually pros. For example the plastic back is a good thing because it makes the phone more durable to being dropped. Wireless charging generates heat and is bad for phones. The lack of water resistance allows the phone to breathe and heat in the phone to exit.
But a big con is how tall this phone is, should be 1 inch shorter. The tall height makes the phone bend in your front pocket like a banana. See some photos on the Amazon reviews.
And then when something else breaks on the phone then moto will deny the warranty repair saying "phone is bent" and this can be big problem for men that carry phone in their front pocket and use pants that are not baggy

Thanks for the review. I appreciate how thorough they are. I’ve been waiting for the new moto g/surprisingly the 1 Ace to come out. I’m coming from a moto g7. I see a lot of upgrades. I ran my singe processor score and it’s flailing at 271. I didn’t even think that could degrade to that point. I’m going to miss the dual speakers and the bar on moto g7 was a joy. I’m not as fond of the Android bar. I was really looking forward to the moto g power 2021 and to say that it’s a letdown would be an understatement. I wished this started at android 11, especially with the pixel 4A 5G is about $60 more unlocked with 3 years of updates (at this moment on Best Buy without the contract), more ram and a slightly better processor. I hate how I’m spoiled with moto actions/display. I won’t miss the glass as I always felt like it was going to slide out of my hands and shatter itself on the floor. I use a case to begin with. The cameras looked surprisingly good. I will miss the “stereo speakers” also having 5G is kind of a bonus. To me it seems you get a lot of bang for your buck. I’m not sure I expected to pay over $300 for a moto phone, but I think this seems worth it. I’m scared to read user reviews... lol.

I've only used Android phones, mainly Samsung. Went with this model because of the storage space. This new phone is almost as big as my head, compared to my S8. The S8 is still working fine, other than the battery is draining faster and Verizon is not providing good service/signal here in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Comcast showed this phone in an email they sent yesterday (I think that's when...) and I went looking. Getting out of my Samsung Galaxy Note 9 seems relatively comfortable at this point (except having paid near $2K for it) if I can find a phone with an acceptable processor, RAM volume, a MicroSD card slot (virtual impossible to get now) and a headphone jack (I bought Grado's for a reason and being absolutely forced into Bluetooth is an absolute no-go for me). This seems perhaps acceptable (minus the processor), but it depends on whether or not it can Screencast in 4K or not.
