Cool! Steve sounds like an interesting guy to work with, he had more impressive career then I'd realized wins in Modifieds, Trucks, Xfinity and Cup series.
Steve Park is a name that isn't mentioned enough. Awesome to see him get some shine here. On the off chance Steve scrolls these comments, you were a HUGE part of my childhood growing up around racing. Thank you.
Steve Park got robbed man. Two bad accidents that weren't his fault at all ruined his career and it's a damn shame. He'd have won more than a few races in the 2000s
Out of all the drivers hurt in accidents Steve Park is the one I feel for the most, everyone talks about Ernie Irvan, but at least he got to compete for a title, we never got to see how good Steve Park could, and that’s pretty sad. There is nary a morsel of my mind, body, or soul, that doubts the idea Steve Park could’ve been a champion of the sport. In my heart, he is a champion. I was born long after his cup days were over, but his story will forever inspire me. I hope I can meet him one day. So many of my hero’s have been long dead before I discovered them, but I’ve wanted to meet Steve Park more than anyone else in my life. I’m glad he’s doing well today.
I was at the race at Darlington. Never knew how the accident occurred. You are a great race car driver. I'm happy for you that you are enjoying your retirement with your son. Best wishes Steve
I love this story. I've been watching NASCAR for over 30 years and I don't think I ever really knew this story. I can't believe it. What a great man. Doesn't matter what happened in his career, he's an inspiration and that to me is success. Thank you Steve, for who you are.
Scientists legitimately think there are a few, something like 6-7, other universes or dimensions running along with ours. If true, it makes you think what is going on in the others… even when discussing stuff like this.
Got the opportunity to meet Steve at the Daytona 500 in 2019 - such an amazing person to talk to and it’s such a shame his career was derailed by that fateful day in Darlington…
Steve Park my forever favorite pennzoil driver!! 2001 Rockingham raced version pennzoil diecast my very first 1 24 diecast!! My one and only treasure! Thank you Steve!!!!
Steve Park was a great guy and great racer but his 2001 accident kind of ruined his career, and he had a lot of hard crashes. I feel like he came back too soon. He did not sound right and then Steve had a crash-filled 2002 and he just never could get that form back. I wish he could have had time to really get his head right.
It was heartbreaking to watch him go from a charismatic, fast-talking New Yorker to someone with a noticeably slower speech pattern after that Darlington accident. Thankfully, Steve seems to have made a full recovery today. I legitimately believe he had a great shot of competing for the Winston Cup Championship in 2002 or 2003 had that tragedy not occured.
I still have a Steve Park diecast on my desk at work. When Steve, Mikey and Jr were teammates. That was like the all star team for me. Always pulled for the guy, he just always seemed like an awesome person to be around. Glad to see him well.
Saw both his wins at Rockingham and Watkins Glen...glad I saw this wish you all the best steve...because you are destined...I miss Dale to and I never got to meet him. Take care enjoy that and time with your son...😊
I agree 100%. Steve is always the forgotten man. I re-watched Blink of an Eye and Steve is non- existent in that movie. Michael and Jr are prevalent but Steve is basically ignored@SingerDinger
I can say this without doubt it may have not worked out for Steve but one things for sure Dales proud of him. I can promise you that means a lot man. It’s truly means a lot. Proud of Steve and Paul Andrews they overcame a lot in there time in this sport and they are truly the good guys of the sport. Always a Steve Park fan
Steve was a great driver, and he was likeable from a fans perspective. The wreck at Atlanta where he broke his leg was a portent of things to come. Im glad Steve is doing well these days.
Great little film about Steve , i always thought he was a great guy , never heard anything at all bad about him or his attitude . That had to be just a bad luck deal at Darlington, if you believed in bad luck , whats the odds Steve doesnt get the wheel back on properly ,and the other car crashes him taking the lucky dog lap . I'm just glad to see he's enjoying life with his son .
Seems like so much was lost when Dale passed, the memory of all those that he touched is still being recalled,DEI was on par to be a championship caliber organization, much like Hendricks or Penske, I miss those days of great racing.. Rest in Power , Dale
I own a LR tire off his 1997 #14 Burger King car from Watkins Glen. My favorite piece of racing memorabilia. He absolutely could have been one of the greats...
The Robert Kubica of NASCAR ‚ i watching the entire 2000 NASCAR season and Park is one of the fastest drivers in that season. I think we need a video about Jerry Nadeau
I guess I am one of the few who just didn't see the same potential in him as Dale & everyone else. I never thought he was gonna be that good even if the injuries didn't happen...
He finished 11th in the point standings in 2000 and was 10th before the freak accident in 2001. Keep in mind Dale Jr finished 16th in the standings in 2000, so Park showed he could be a better driver, and he always ran better in the second half of the season as evident in 1999 and 2000. I reckon he would've finished 7th-8th in the 01 standings had he finished the season, and even better in 2002.
I watched the last 100 laps at hooters in Houston wearing my Earnhardt shirt. Steve park had me out my chair cheering next thing you know everyone in hooters started cheering They weren't even Nascar fans they knew what happened. The manager didn't except are money he said it's on the house. I was at the race when we lost dale
What if tho, What if Steve Park had been succesfull. Would Martin Truex Jr go to the 15 intead of the 1. would dale Jr had stayed at DEI. Would the mergers with Ginn and later Chip Ganassi have happend. Or would things be diffrent. We will never know..............
I used to work with Steve on the #1 NASCAR modified in the early 90's. It was a great time. And Steve was a VERY rare talent
I love this!
@@dereksellers yes Steve has a very intriguing story.

My first favorite nascar driver, saw him win at Rockingham in that awesome pennzoil yellow 😅

Maybe 10 to 15 wins.
@@johnfrench9328 i like to think 25 or 30 wins
Just think about how good he could’ve been if Dale wasn’t killed in 01
What a guy. What a life. Truly beautiful to see him happy and just loving his life.

A short career can’t diminish the talent or character of Steve Park… 🏁🏁🏁

I had the honor of meeting Steve. I can tell you he is a class A individual, a truly good person, and everything they say about him is true.
Steve is one of the good guys! Always pulled for him and always will. #1
In 100 realities, Steve Park is a NASCAR great 99 times . It just so happens that we live in the 100th.
Scientists legitimately think there are a few, something like 6-7, other universes or dimensions running along with ours. If true, it makes you think what is going on in the others… even when discussing stuff like this.
Well done , the end is what it's all about. Thank you for the memories Steve Park.
Some love for Steve Park, this is awesome. Good work Nascar
He also went to Modifieds and won the race at Daytona
Great job man. You are awesome. Thank you. I cried watching this. Im a big fan. wish you the best dude
Long Island legend
this was a great film
Steve Park. If you are reading this you are still loved by all of us. Winning the rock gave us all what we needed at the time too. Thanks for that.
You're a great driver. I'm still rooting for you Steve!!👍💯
Growing up, also as a Long Island native going to Riverhead Raceway every Saturday night, I always loved Steve. Still do obviously! Thanks for this!

Great guy for sure heck of a wheel man
Big fan , have a few of your die-cast ! Glad you're having a good life !
I met him at Richmond the year before Dale passed away with Michael Waltrip. Really nice man. Glad to see him doing much better.
We love Steve👍♥️😁 Thank you for this!
Steve, Dale would be proud
Steve Park should of been a Megastar

Steve is an amazing talent. Loved seeing him win in the #1!
I always get bummed thinking about how close D.E.I. were to having a dynasty. Steve,Mikey, and jr. Especially had Dale Sr not been killed in 2001.
The fact that he lived through his NASCAR career is rather amazing
Wow, an excellent production @nascar! Great piece on an immensely talented driver. What could have been...
What a great video, what a great guy
He was one of my favorite drivers ever. It’s truly sad to see someone who worked so hard have it all derailed by injury.
So my curious question is why the race at Rockingham isn't displayed as much as Kevin's win at Atlanta?
I'd say its because of Kevin being the direct replacement of Dale at RCR and also the fact that Harvick had a great career in Cup
I have no idea. Everyone brings up Harvick and Jr’s wins but Park won the very next week!!! It’s so bizarre
I agree 100%. Steve is always the forgotten man. I re-watched Blink of an Eye and Steve is non- existent in that movie. Michael and Jr are prevalent but Steve is basically ignored@SingerDinger
I met him in Brendan Gaughn’s shop in Vegas.

Great piece for a great guy!
Met steve I think in 2014ish at one of the memorabilia stands at texas motor speedway. He was so nice took a picture and signed my car.
We love you Steve.
All in all it's not a sad story, It's a GREAT story.

Someone said Steve Park looks like Ray Liotta and now I can’t unsee it.
I always thought Joshua Jackson

What an amazing attitude on life after getting your career cut short.
Luckily, I got to see Steve race on Sundays He got my vote.
Steve park used to watch him he was going to be one of the great ones
Always liked Park! So glad he won Rockingham the week after Dale died. It was fitting as he was Dale’s first driver
Never clicked something so quickly
I remember that 2002 season, and a lot of crashes weren't Park's fault. Sadly few others felt that way.
It’s so weird seeing Michael Waltrip talk in a serious, somber tone because he’s always so goofy on the tv broadcasts.

When I would go to his home to work on his boat he was always friendly. Just sucks his career was cut short
What's the last song in the documentary?
Che bello
Sad. Saw him win in 1996 at Thompson Speedway in CT.
Steve really had a good Truck Series career after the Cup series.
I missed seeing not being in the car
❤️
Great documentary but lucky dogs or the “free pass” didn’t exist until 2003. Larry Foyt was simply catching up to line up on the inside as a lap car
