Surfing UA-cam and just discovered your channel. Michigander, age 66, so I grew up listening to Beatles and folk music. You and your musical partner remind me of some of the duos I heard in local Michigan pubs, back in the day. There were more good bars around back then(all gone now), and they all had live music, whether a soloist or a 5 piece band. It was all great music. Appreciate your sound, and you pair well with Josh also. Thanks for doing what you do!

Hoping your finger cut isn't too bad! You are an incredibly talented singer/songwriter. You have an incredible "presence" in your music. Did anyone ever tell you that? (But don't let it get to your head!!) Toni and the rest of the Cidizens complement you so well. You have such a natural rapport with each other, it is truly incredible. Also when you play with other musicians, the rapport is there as well. PS I had a finger cut once. Ouch!! They can be incredibly painful for a moment. So many nerve endings and so forth. Have a great week Reina!

In a just and fair world, your songwriting talent is Legend.
    Can you describe:
    • how you conceive the unique themes for your original songs
    • how you manage to craft compelling visionary verses that dovetail to form an amazingly cohesive "story"
    • whether you make lyrics fit melody, or make melody fit lyrics (chicken/egg phenomenon)
    Also:
    • which personal characteristics do you admire most in others (please don't say "biceps")
    Also:
    • Have you finished building your cold fusion reactor YET? >:-(

Not necessarily, because often a song can have multiple meanings intended or unintended despite the assertion of a performer that the song has one and only meaning which is the apparent or obvious one. But in all probability Reina's interpretation that a song retains the obvious meaning is the correct meaning due to her professionalism.

Hello Reina, thanks for the clip this morning, interesting. Actually I heard a song, I thought may be of interest for you and Josh, too rock it up a bit, if ya keen. The Bootleg Family, with Ya Mama don't dance, always enjoy that one. Your lead vocal, great rhythm guitar, an excellent chance for Toni with Fantastic lead guitar and vocal, Josh with some Funky Bass ( loved his funky bass in, stuck in the middle ) and Carson McKee with his tea chest for a bit of earthy rhythm and a great vocal as well.
Been following you and Josh for quite a while from Adelaide, South Australia, keep up the great work, Cheers

    Nice Sunday from Barcelona, Reina!
Let me ask you: have you ever heard the album "Missing... Presumed Having a Good Time" from Mark Knopfler's country band "The Notting Hillbillies"? If not, I may suggest you Spotify it urgently. I'm sure you would love it. Besides, you and Toni probably would make a great cover from some of its songs. Let me suggest again, in case you like my idea, the songs number 6 and 7 of the album, called "Blues Stay Away From Me" and "Will You Miss Me". I really can't wait to listen to your own version, as they both do fit so well in your band's style and are great tunes. Ok, that's all. Be good, you guys!

Reina, although I'm in the "upper age level" of your fan base as a retired gramps in Fargo (the city, not the movie), I am fascinated by the success you've enjoyed with your videos. You, Toni, Josh and his friends (along with yours) perform my kind of music. As I look at your Q & A video, I do have a question I've wondered about for a long time, so I'll ask it here: realizing you perform a lot of "cover songs," in other words, copyrighted music, and you do this very well and with confidence, e.g., "Tennessee Waltz," Paul Simon songs, etc., and many others, I've always wondered what kind of "clearance" you work out with the copyright owners. OR, does UA-cam/Google do that piece for you? Although I have a couple of non-music blogs, I'm always concerned about intellectual property and, of course, that concern applies to copyrighted music. Keep up your great work and, no doubt, you've got my concern covered...but, if you would, please enlighten me. Thanks!

Great Q&A, always good to hear more about you. Small suggestion, make the camera left light the main and move it to 45 degrees off you (camera being at 90 degrees), drop the camera right light and replace it will a white reflective scrim ( like a white piece of 4x8 Foamcore) just out of frame and bounce back the main for your fill. Move the main back, or the scrim in, to control contrast and get a pleasing ratio. If the light box and the scrim are the same size you will get beautiful vertical catch-lights in the eyes... The giant dual shadows with you in between-were a bit distracting...

You should keep an extra set of fingers handy in case of something just like that! I bet you have an extra set of guitar strings... Always nice to hear from you - playing or not!

At my old job there was a music studio in the same building. We used to love listening to the music. except the drums. So maybe your neighbors did too. then they moved.
