It would be very cool if that workflow would be possible with a h.264 encoded file. Simply drag'n'drop and play.... hopefully that will be possible in the near future on the Hyperdeck Studio Mini!
You can go into Settings in the ATEM Studio application --> Click HyperDeck at the top --> Enter IP of your HyperDeck --> Assign an input for the HyperDeck & tick "Auto Roll". The video will autoplay whenever you switch to that channel.

However, I have yet to find a simple way to switch the active SSD for playback. I have to literally eject the SSD that my wanted clip is NOT on in order for the Hyperdeck to select the required SSD! This is an incredibly clunky workflow. I have checked the manual and can find nothing. Surely BMD has a button combo for this. Am I missing something?
I've also used a computer with either a Blackmagic Design UltraStudio Mini Monitor card (for PC) or an external one that connects via lightening (for Mac)

I am liking the HyperDeck as a recorder... but not as a playback device. Matching the codecs for playback is a not easy (I use Resolve) and the having to pluck media out of the ATEM Media Player and Clips out of the HyperDeck just doesn't seem an easy thing to do. Thinking about going back to a PC with CasperCG and a Declink Duo card installed for all playback of graphics and other media. More to carry around, but much easier and efficient to use on the job. Thoughts?

I can playback anything that has been recorded on the hyperdeck but when I try to make a commercial from my mac and render it in Premier 18 i can't get the file to play. What settings do I need to have the video render set at?
Hard to trouble shoot but there is a good chance that one of the encoding settings you selected was not quite right. These devices are indeed very picky.

Do I have the wrong settings in the Hyperdeck? I have also rendered out various settings in Adobe Premiere such as different frame rates...with no improvement.

Typically the real advantage of Key/Fill is much cleaner lines on your fine output. Chroma keying can typically create not-so-nice edges however the two step process of Key/Fill makes for cleaner lines.
No...but the deck supports Avid xHD... the trickiest part about the avid codec is picking the right codec in the drop down menu in your editor which is a little confusing. I mostly use xHD for master on windows box, but if your card is fast enough should be no prob

I need to insert comercials on my sports games with the hyperdeck mini but i cant get it to work like you teach. Do you have any idea what can be happening?
Just to confirm, have you plugged the output of the HyperDeck into one of your 2M/E inputs over sdi? They reason that "HyperDeck" shows up in my software is because I have labelled one of my inputs as "HyperDeck". It will still show up no matter what it is called, but this way it's easier to choose the right one!

For the ATEM Mini Pro you would need to use chroma key and use the HDMI output from the Hyperdeck Mini. Stinger transitions are actually possible is the ATEM Mini itself

Something you didn't mention is make sure your hyperdeck is set to whatever codec you export from final cut. I.E. I record on my hyperdeck at ProRes 422 Proxy so I set it at that. For me, final cut exports playback when they are ProRes 422 Proxy. This was something I kept getting frustrated with when my hyperdeck was set to h.264 to record and I could not playback videos exported in h.264 or any other ProRes codec.
Is it possible to loop playback from the Hyperdeck Studio Mini? I would like to put a video background that I would key in over green screen in our studio. If not, I guess, I can just make a long file in final cut, but it then obviously makes for longer file transfer time.
I just installed my new HyperDeck Mini and I have the following problem: I can record from my mixer and playback the files. If I add a file via Mac on the SD card I can not see the file in HyperDeck and not play it. If I put a file via MAC on a formatted card I can see it and play it. My codec is ProRes 422 LT and so is the file I am trying to play. Any idea?

Hey - there are no stupid questions on this channel! You can only perform one operation at a time or the HyperDeck mini. If you want to record and playback and the same time then you will need two of them :(
That's what I figured, thanks for clarifying... I was looking at picking up a HyperDeck Shuttle 2 for playback (and as a backup recorder) at 1/2 the cost.
I have not yet tried connecting a console to the HyperDeck, however it accepts a HDMI feed in so it may work. Not sure how it handles any sort of HDCP though.

@@emilyb1641 Hi! What I ended up doing was connecting the ATEM and the Hyperdeck using a gigabit ethernet switch with ethernet cables. Then they were able to "talk" to each other. So, when I put the IP address of the Hyperdeck into the ATEM software, it recognized the Hyperdeck. I hope this helps!

Can you set up a macro on an ATEM to cue a specific clip on a Hyperdeck and play it automatically?

I was almost certain you could hold down one of the buttons to change between cards, but now I cannot recall (and I do no have the device near me)

NHRDA Prores 4444. If using the v6.0, any ProRes will work. Your frame rate and resolution must match.

I recommend wiping all the files and only loading a single file onto your SD card that you want to test.

If I remember correctly you should press and hold the Record button to change between cards.

I don’t see how that would be possible either though if qLab supports they UltraStudio Mini HD then you could do that!

You need an ATEM that supports clips. These are the more expensive ones though.

You can accomplish that using ATEM software add the hyperdeck and you will get the controls

yeah you just hit the play button a second time for loop clip.
And three times t ok loop all the files on your sd

NHRDA I think all your Clips have to be the Atems frame rate or even all clips on sd have to be the same frame rate
That’s absolutely right - you’ll need the video to match frame rate and size of your ATEM

You’ll need to be very picky about what you encode your file as. ProRes should work though.
@@heretorecord I realised that if you encode the audio at more than 16bits the audio has problems being encoded when the HyperDeck plays it back

You are correct. That’s how the Hyperdeck outputs the key/full graphics.

That is correct. Although any of the input would work just as well (5,6,7,8)
