I just pulled one tiny bit of goose grass out of my backyard. That trick BYD tough us on taking a picture and clicking the star key to google it is priceless. I lean on your knowledge a lot and appreciate what you bring us.
Great video. Sometimes one of the hardest things for DYI home owners to do is identify the pesky weed you want to get rid of. Then determine what herbicide is the most effective. I have tried various combinations of the herbicides you have mentioned. Sometimes takes a few tries to get the most effective recipe.
Hey Jason, I just recently built a house and had 2 acres of mature St. Augustine in the lot before the build. Since we moved in, there were a lot of ruts in the yard (due to construction and it was a farm field before) so we spread a thin layer of top soil across the entire property. Since then (around April), we have not gotten ANY rain here, maybe .5 inches in 2 months, so the St. Augustine really didn't sprout through the dirt layer like we were hoping. Due to this, barnyard grass and foxtail grass had pretty much taken over the lawn. I'm in south Louisiana. I'd really appreciate any tips on this. Should i try to even control it now or just wait until winter and go with a pre-emergent? Can't be mother nature with this one it seems as I tried to plant grass a few times and the 95+ temperatures and watering every morning didn't seem to germinate anything...
Also how do you get rid of dandelion grass? Sometimes I realized that the only reason I might have to mow my lawn is because the dandelion grass gets so huge that I have to mow it than I notice even when I mow at the 4 or 5 cutting height the grass will look spectacular & the dandelion is what made it looked bad.
What do you think about Tenacity? Some people say that it kills all kinds of weeds but supposedly you can't use it on Zoysia grass as it will kill that grass but all Northern Grass including Centipede, Bermuda, it should be okay.
So if you were to spray a residential lawn full of these weeds where it would take a long time to spot spray. Would you just just blanket spray or spot spray still?
Great video and perfect timing. After a neighbor brought in several loads of top soil, I've been overran with new grassy weed, now after watching your video I'm 90% sure it's Goose Grass. One question, is it easily pulled up when the soil is wet? The weed I have seems to lack a tap root like some other grassy weeds and after a rain I can usually just pull it up with a little bit of effort.
@@lawncarelife I just went outside and took a close look at it, it's goosegrass. Maybe because the soil down here in SWFL is just sand with a bit of organic material it's easy to pull up when recently watered. It appears to have a bunch of smaller roots, no main tap root like torpedo grass.
Here in the Houston , Tx area i have an issue with goose grass. Goose grass is sometimes difficult to kill with roundup especially once the plant is more mature. In the part of my yard that is common Bermuda i have tried Dismiss NXT and Solitaire. Usually get good burn down but often require multiple applications and still may not kill it. The best success is have had is multiple applications of Revolver. Revolver may take several weeks to beat the goosegrass into submission but often kills is with multiple applications. I have used a combination of Revolver and Change Up this year in early March. It eliminated poa, young goosegrass and about 90 % of warm season weeds. You may get sticker shock when you see the price of a quart of Revolver but it gets results.
Im getting some msma to use right now, and plan on a second time in 3 weeks after mt first application by spot spraying. I have common burmuta in the big lawn (about 20,000 sq.ft.) and tif tuff burmuta in 3 other smaller lawns (close to 8,000 sq.ft each). To kill both the crab grass and the dallas grass. My queston is after the burmuta lawns go dormant can I use the msma then effectively in my big pull behind sprayer and carpet spray? We live in North Carolina just above Charlotte. Your channel is great, its a little hard to understand the different chemical names and mixing ratios for me just starting to get into the lawn thing but I reallt enjoy the learning process.
Dallis grass in a Fescue lawn... its killing me especially down south in Oklahoma. Its in my back yard and im considering renovation and just reseed this fall.
Celius, changeup and MSM turf mix will control every weed in Bermuda. If you have a lot of dallas grass, you might have to hit it a couple of times. The mix is cheap enough to blanket spray
Celsius WG is a post-emergent herbicide that comes in the form of water-dispersible granules and is an excellent dallisgrass killer. Celsius WG is also great to use on St. Augustine grass, Bermudagrass and other labeled warm-season grasses to control perennial and broadleaf weeds.
Curious what the process is for applying these different applications when you have all of these types of weeds in one area? After watching this video I can confidently say my whole half acre lawn is comprised of all of these weeds.
You do the best job educating folks.
Thank you

Great Info!
What is the weed at 2:15...light green...behind the seed head...spikey looking?
I was just thinking of this question. I have seen this weed for the first time in my lawn along with maple tree seedlings and pine tree seedlings.
It looks like it might be dog fennel, although it is usually darker green.

What’s the best treatment for Chamber Bitter? It’s taking over one pasture and starting in the yard grass!
I like change up or Blind Side
Bahia grass is used for lawns in sandy soil where the soil is too poor to support a regular turf grass.
I really appreciate your knowledge and sharing with us. Great video, weeds are always an issue and now I feel better armed to take em out. Thanks
This is a great video! Thank you!

I don't think goosegrass is easy to pull

I’m in Austin and goose grass is an issue. Sulfentrazone takes care of it, but you have to be very careful with that in the hot temps.

If I had a Fescue yard, that is probably what I would do

My yard is literally nothing but ALL of these weeds combined. I have Absolutely no idea where to start. I just wanna nice yard.

Those are three of my most commonly used products
Have you mixed them 3 together
@@Gruerradetitaneslopez13 I typically just mix Celsius and certainty
@@lawncarelifewas about to say that combo of 2 will smoke just about everything. Safe in 100 degree temps as well.

If your yard is a mess, I might just wait until winter and start with a pre-emergent next year. That should thin a lot of the annual weeds out
Or just pick a combination like Celsius and certainty and spray those two period it should have some effect on a lot of the weeds
How do you kill clover grass & that weird looking popcorn grass?
Sucks dallis grass is so hard to kill it’s the weed I find most in my lawn (Northern California)
